Because data handling is important in ensuring the integrity of the data since it addresses concerns related to confidentially, security, and preservation/retention of the data. In the case of data handled electronically, data integrity is a primary concern to ensure that recorded data is not altered, erased, lost or accessed by unauthorized users. Therefore it takes time. A set protocol must be followed when extracting and securing data.

I don't understand the motive. If all of this was already out in the open between both households and he was about to be out of the Marines and move back home, why do this?

Nobody knows at this point if a crime has been committed or not. With all of this stuff that is being revealed lately, maybe this girl Erin is just in hiding. I think I might be too, were I in the middle of it. Things are sounding pretty complicated.

Hi steelman
It's possible that she's in hiding, but very unlikely. She has no support structure there, apart from her husband. There has been no activity on her credit cards, bank account, etc. Her mother was coming to see her.

Of course one may ascertain from media reports and hearsay many different scenarios and probabilities maybe it is just me but I tend to deal in factual information. When reviewing situations such as what we are discussing now, I ask myself the following questions:

Does the report come from a credible, authoritative person or organization?
Does the reporting agency have a reputation for seriousness or for sensationalism?
Is there evidence of thorough research?
Is the story based on just one source?
Are the sources reliable, fair, and objective?
Is the report balanced, or is it written to convey only one point of view?
When the tone is angry, spiteful, or highly critical, it suggests that an attack is under way and not a reasoned argument.
Are the facts consistent with those in other articles or reports? If stories contradict one another that is a clear sign to be careful in what we assume to be factual.
Is the information recent enough to be acceptable? Something thought to be correct 2 years ago may be discounted today. On the other hand, if the news item is a breaking story, it may lack complete and comprehensive information.

In addition to the above in today's technology it is very easy for those in the know how to Photoshop images that are nearly undetectable sometimes even to a trained eye.

I just tread lightly thru all the muck and mire until such time either the evidence provided is enough to reach a factual or a reasonable conclusion.

Just my two cents worth.

I am not really sure what exactly you are referring to LadyLems.

But in this case since July 11th the information has been consistent with what continues to come out today by other media outlets.

Some didn't want to believe the radio article on July 11th was true. Yet from what I have read they got the scoop before the larger media even began investigating it which isn't surprising. Local news stations often know much more much quicker than other outlets. Also I have read that this local radio station has won awards for journalism. So I knew they weren't some fly by night station. Plus every media outlet in the land knows if they put out false information it can come back to haunt them civilly. I felt at that time all said in the article would come to be true.

Finally other stations began to investigate this case concerning the players involved and really verified what had already been reported way back on July 11th.

I have no doubt what the media has reported is correct.

As far as comments being said on social media sites before this ever came to light.... I think they just backed up what has now been discovered by the media.

I don't think she is in hiding. Nothing was preventing her from walking out and getting a divorce.

If she is in love with the 'other' now ex-Marine imo she would not want him to become the center of attention with LE thinking possibly he has murdered her.

If she was alive she would contact police to let them know she is ok even if she refused to give her location telling them she doesn't want to come back but also wanting them to know that no one has hurt her.

Common sense says Erin is unable to reach out to anyone because she is a victim of homicide. She was very close to her mother from what I understand. I just do not believe Erin would simply walk away and contact no one.

IMO

Can we link to a public record for CL? Alerted on my post for Mod help.

That was meant to be a general statement about myself when dealing with "ANY" information meaning that is how I deal with "ALL" media reports, hearsay, rumors and so forth. Can you provide to me the links where it is stated that she was having an affair?

You may very well be right. But a person can hide for a long time with a couple thousand dollars in cash on their person and a meddling girlfriend helping to keep them hidden. Last I checked, cash transactions aren't that easily tracked. None of us have any way of knowing who she may know that could be aiding her. I agree it seems unlikely, but as messy as all of this is sounding, I could see her running off for awhile just to get away from the shame of it all.

In a telephone interview, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Randy Naquin said neither Corporal Lee nor his wife have been named as suspects in Corwin’s disappearance.“Just because their names are in a search warrant or you received their names from some other source rather than the sheriff’s department; they're not listed as suspects or persons of interest so we wouldn't have a comment.” Naquin said.

But they haven't been cleared either. But it is what it is and we have to go with them not being named POI's.

FWIW, POI's or suspects are rarely named before an arrest.

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say. Could the fact he was being discharged (and Erin would have known he was) had something to do with Erin disappearing. Cause: CL was being discharged Effect: Erin disappeared.

Ah ha!! Absolutely. The timing sure is odd!

Anything is possible at this point in time ....time and investigative results shall tell the tale.

Because LE has precious few resources. We live in a land of great abundance, but that abundance doesn't seem to get allocated adequately to the heros that protect us or study and solve these crime at the city and county levels. This is why it takes so long to prosecute cases as well. While great advances in technology are making huge leaps in solving cases, we still need the criminologists to use that technology. Therein lies the dilemna

You and I and WS'ers understand what you are saying. But a family thrown into a nightmare like this doesn't realize that keeping up appearances hides the truth, and the truth is what will lead to the victim being found and justice being served. They really just do not know any better. JMO.

Also, people in this situation are often not thinking clearly and simply do not make good decisions.

No we can't link to this record. CL is not sleuthable, you can discuss him as far as what we know thru main stream media/the articles about him but nothing more.

No, but they would be required to report that she is alive and the case is closed, IIRC.

I can't recall who it was, but I do remember one case like that. LE announced they had located and spoken with the person, they were not under duress, and their involvement was ending. Wish I could remember who that was.

Also from the cbs8 article:

Cpl. Christopher B. Lee, 24, was discharged from the Marine Corps on July 7, 2014 and is currently serving in the Individual Ready Reserve. Cpl. Lee served as a rifleman with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division.

Cpl. Lee entered the Marine Corps July 7, 2008 and received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps on July 7, 2014.

So that's the full 6 years. Why did he IRR?

From everything I read for Marine enlistment - it is usually 8 years with at least 4 years active duty. So, he would do 6 years active duty and then 2 years in IRR.

I had to ask my Air Force hubby to clarify this for me. Ok, even though he enlisted for 6 years (some do 2, 4, 6, etc), if he didn't reenlist, then he still would owe 2 years (in the IRR) on top of his enlistment. Everyone that joins owes the government 8 years regardless of enlistment time.
