The troublemaker in me feels like the whole text thing is weird. I worry someone who knew about Erin's "affair" (and maybe it was only kissing) sent them from Erin's phone to try and direct the blame squarely on someone else. It seems so specific...two hours away, hunting? Maybe even someone who knew about CL's hunting plans. Obviously this doesn't line up with a lot that is going on, but the texts really don't seem right to me. Maybe if I saw them, word for word, it would make more sense...but it currently doesn't add up.

Evidently, JC said his wife left the house at 7AM on June 28th. Do we have confirmation that he actually saw her leave? And we know her phone was shut off shortly after. So IMO, any texts would have been sent prior and would be from Erin herself.

I think the texts do make sense and fit perfectly with what we know now. I think to work in someone else getting Erin's phone and sending texts messages to set someone up is trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. JMO.

Not uncommon for a U Haul to have out of state plates. It could simply be because the last person rented it in AZ, moved to CA, and turned it in there. IMO

The family that founded and operates U-Haul is based out of Arizona. The majority of their rentals are licensed from Az. so they can keep tabs on them from the home office in Phoenix, even though they are distributed nationwide.

Warning, could be troubling to some, as it depicts physiology of death.

Except that for those 6 hours the body isn't actually decomposing yet. In fact the vast majority of the bodies' cells are still technically "alive" long after death. What happens is the oxygen levels in the blood deplete but oxygen still makes it's way into the body through the skin and the concentration gradient effect through the air passages of the lungs. The result is that the tissues can still achieve modest oxygenation of between 30-45% of normal which is used by some of the cells. The rest switch over to anaerobic respiration and start burning sugar the hillbilly way, making massive amounts of waste products that unfortunately have the effect of feeding the bears or rather, the microbes that will eventually cause sepsis and systemic cellular death, but that happens later on. The reason that the core temperature can tell you time of death is because the switch over happens gradually and when the cells switch to a less powerful form of energy production they no longer make enough energy to heat the body to regular human temperature. The more cells switch over, the less heat the body produces and eventually the heat drops so low that crucial enzymes stop working and some of the cells start to die off. It is at this point, more than six hours later, that the body actually starts decomposing.

Nicole Lee has stated that they won't ever find her body, and without her body they got nothing on 'em.

The cops have said repeatedly that they don't know that Erin didn't just run off on her own.

In a court of law, a defense attorney is going to have a heyday with the cops own admissions.

Seems like to me, the cops are now in the position that they HAVE to find her, no matter what.

No body, no proof of a crime. I'm pretty sure a jury would agree.

If the perpetrator (or perpetrators) who made this woman disappear really planned it out carefully and thoroughly, they may in fact be right. If they hid her well enough, this will never go to trial.

I disagree. I don't think it matters as much what LE has said for public consumption as it does what is going on behind the scenes. If I couldn't force him to remain in the state until forensics are back, I would probably publicly posture that I'm not very far along to keep them from trying to vanish on me.

This makes me sad. I know nothing about running a horse rescue ranch or the space needed to do so. But it seems IM has devoted her life to helping mistreated horses. Just can't understand why people are so eager to throw her under the bus. So far, that I know of anyway, there's no reason to believe anything other than she landed smack dab in the middle of a personal crime between people who volunteered at her ranch.

this is OT but I am familiar with horse recues and it can be heartbreaking as often horses are seen as disposable commodities. It takes so much time and money to operate a rescue and I too feel badly for IM for landing in the middle of all this. Makes me sad that people- IMO- read a nefarious slant into her involvement. I might be totally wrong but to me it just doesn't fit the profile.

IMO, hunting was a lie to lure Erin to a spot to kill her. What better way to bring along a firearm and not alarm your intended victim. And not everyone goes by the rules, and hunt when they feel like it. I don't know how it is in JTNP, but here, you can hunt and shoot small game year round. No hunting license needed either.

I am wondering if CL told her the trip was 2 hours away in order for EC to justify being gone for a long period so that her absence would not initially cause alarm.

I thought I had read the "special day" was when Erin planned to tell CL about the pregnancy. Was that just early speculation? And now we know CL planned the "special day" to celebrate, via the texts to the friend in Tn? Someone enlighten me please....because that would say a great deal about if this was premeditated or not.

I agree. I'm familiar with the area and people do go there frequently to hike and "sightsee", but this is the first I've heard of someone going there to hunt. Struck me as odd.

I think arresting him for the potato gun was their attempt to keep tabs on him, even though the charges will never stick. A potato gun ? Really ?

It's enough to help keep him in the system for a little while longer though. I think that is why they arrested him for something so ludicrous. Also it was listed as a felony, therefore they could legally extract DNA from him and get it into the database. State laws allow for that now, but that doesn't apply to misdemeanor crimes, thus the felony.

These are the kind of statements made by LE that make me want to scream! Why don't they make a statement saying that Erin is missing under suspicious circumstances and that they suspect foul play!? Then they can ask the public for help, and if anyone has any info to please come forward. LE could have a tip line opened and ask that if anyone has any information that could aid in the case they could call the tip line. It's very frustrating to read these kind of statements by LE! :banghead:

There are MANY faux rescues (for-profit entities masquerading as rescues to tug on the heartstrings of the unsuspecting populace)... In my neck of the woods, there are as many bad as good. Google around, or I can recommend some blogs/ pages that out a great number of rescue imposters.

White Rock does appear to have 501(c)3 status, which is a bit of an undertaking, and does speak to the legitimacy, to a degree. But there have been several 501(c)3 "rescues" outed for their less than admirable practices and intentions... just saying.

IM may just be a standup lady who has been totally fleeced by the Lees, who knows?

I think Eileen may have been implying what I was thinking. Why would she be trying to get pregnant with a married man? (That is, if that is what she was trying to do.) One poster brought up the blackmail angle. She found out she was pregnant on "Father's Day". What a surprise that might have been if she contacted CL on Father's Day (He already a father.) and told him he was going to be a daddy again. I guess she told JC he was going to be a dad as he did seem to know she was pregnant. I have no idea!!
