Sad news to hear because it is confirmation of what we have known but so glad they arrested him.

Question: why would federal agents arrest him, as opposed to local law enforcement? Is it because he is a Marine or because crime possibly happened in a national park?

My guess and opinion, which is totally uninformed, would be that it's because he was in Alaska and has to be brought back to California (and -perhaps incidentally - will have to pass thru Canada to do so)

Could be a combination of all that. Plus he is out of state now and it might be easier for Federal Agents in Alaska to transport him back to California

A nineteen year old girl and her unborn child have lost their lives by the sounds of it. What a sad day. Of course we must wait to see the news conference to know for certain, but his arrest doesn't leave much hope.
