Below are some photos of the mines they mentioned in the press conference. I'm not certain which one *exactly* Erin was located in. I said it before (and now it takes on a whole new meaning)....these mines are both daunting and incredible at the same time. It hurts to think of what Erin went through out there. I can only hope that it was quick. My heart aches for her family and loved ones.

Looking at these photos, I have an even greater respect for the firefighters that brought Erin out. It's one thing to have to descend into one of these dark mines with low air quality and unsafe conditions yet quite another under these circumstances not really knowing what is waiting for you at the bottom and if you are really prepared for it.

I am feeling now like I did on the days that little Caylee Anthony and Laci Peterson were found. Extremely overjoyed that Erin was located, that her family has closure, knows what happened to her, and can bring her home to Tennessee yet also extremely saddened and disgusted that her life was cut short because of a selfish monster unable to look past his own self-centered wants and desires.

Praying for swift justice. I am confident CL will not get the opportunity to spend anymore time with his beloved Humorous.

Slightly O/T: I was really hoping they'd find April Pitzer while they were searching for Erin.

Ex-Marine Christopher Lee was arrested Sunday night in the killing of Erin Corwin, a missing Marine wife who was found crumpled at the bottom of a 140-foot mineshaft in a remote area of the High Desert.

Authorities have also said that Lee's wife, Nichole Lee, is a "person of interest" in the death.

I'd be running to the DA and providing all the co-operation I could, if I was her. I'm certain he is going to seek the harshest penalties in this case, against anybody charged.

I was hoping for that too, that case is haunting. I hope April will be found.

Not sure if this has been posted. According to People magazine article, there was evidence in the mine shaft that may lead to more arrests...:

"With assistance from the FBI, officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department found the body about 140 feet inside a mine shaft. Due to the depth and air quality of the mine shaft, Corwin's body was not recovered until 6:30 p.m. the following day. Lee was arrested at 10 p.m.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Corwin, who would have turned 20 in July, was pregnant at the time of her death. Officials say that there is "potential for more arrests," adding that other evidence was found in the shaft."

But, if NL is just as involved as CL, as I suspect she is, what kind of deal could she hope for? I'm thinking NL will be arrested too, and IM will be the one who makes a deal, as it appears she had some knowledge, IMO.

  • #329
I too, believe NL will be arrested, as I believe she helped to plan it. It just BOGGLES MY MIND that these people think they could get away with something like this. I just cannot understand it - which is pretty much how I feel about most cases. but UGH!

Thank you so much for posting these pics. I will admit, when the conversation here first turned to the mines in the area, I really worried Erin may never be found. I feel such relief she has been found and can be returned to her family. I think LE has been hot on CL's tail from the beginning and I'm confident they have more than enough to put him away.

Underground Explorers posted in regards to the case on their FB page, still nothing from WRHR or IM regarding the tireless efforts of LE, SAR, etc. to find a missing volunteer of her organization...

I finally really understand why the public was not allowed to help search.

The logic these dumb criminals use is just amazingly stupid. Think of all the stupid logic.
1-First thinking he would even get away with murder.
2-If he owned up to his transgressions in the first place and just asked for forgiveness, his wife may have even forgiven him over time.
3-Like you mention, even if there was a divorce then there is a chance he could have gotten visitation at least or joint custody was even possible.

But no, lets immediately choose to commit murder. That is a good plan....NOT
Geeesshhh.

I don't want to accuse someone without knowing the facts. But, Chris himself told Erin he was scared that Nichole would divorce him and take their daughter away from him. Many guys have been in Chris' boat, yet did not kill their pregnant girlfriend.

You have to ask yourself, what's his primary motivation? Fear of losing Nichole? If he loved her so much, why was he messing around with Erin?

I kinda lean towards Chris being weak and Nichole wearing the pants in the relationship. Let's hope he tells the truth and does not fall on his sword for her, if that's the case.

Yeah. Between the heat, the mines, the dangerous fauna, etc, the public helping could have been a disaster.

I know it has been mentioned already but this case sure sounds an awful lot like the South Carolina Heather Elvis case which is at the top of the Missing Forum Discussion thread.

Way too similar and way too similar sick minded perps.

Just now getting the news. So glad that she has been found, so horribly sad that our worst fears have come to fruition.

Now, to go back and read the last 13 pages.

  • #337
No word from IM because she's probably busy changing her undies!

I was just looking at this profile pic of the SB Cave Mining SAR. I couldn't even work out what it was for ages.

The things these guys do to find our missing. I hope whoever was injured finding Erin has made a full recovery.

ITA! NL wears the pants! I'm also worried that CL will take all the blame and claim NL had nothing to do with it. I hope CL just tells the truth. I don't want NL to get away with her part in all this. I think the idea to kill Erin was NL's, and I think she helped in the planning as well. I wonder if NL has an alibi for the day Erin was killed? And I hope IM tells all she knows as well.

Yea, Thanks. Ive been scrambling to read up on this case and you are right that we dont know for sure yet who or how many people actually participated in the murder and dumping of the body and car movements.

At least now we know LE will get to the bottom of it all. I just posted about another case that sounds so much like this case. It is frightingly similar.
