Authorities have also said that Lee's wife, Nichole Lee, is a "person of interest" in the death.

Arrest in 3, 2, .....

Yes, I was wondering whether she made a deal with the D.A. and squeeled, or if CL is going to get the death penalty waived by testifying against his wife. And let's not forget sympathetic Horse Ranch Woman in all this. I want to see her cross examined. Hinky. Very Hinky.

Can medals be "stripped"? And wonder if the circumstances now would be sufficient to change his honorable discharge to dishonorable.

Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

I hope so. If he's convicted of murder, I think they should since he committed the murder while in the USMC. He did them a grave dishonor.

I wonder what's been going through NL's mind since Erin was found and CL arrested? I wonder what's been going through IM's mind as well?
Disbelief? Fear.

I'm curious to know if he will be tried in civilian court or UCMJ. I think to utilize the UCMJ
courts, he would need to be placed back on active duty, then if found guilty, would be dishonorably discharged.

Thanks Mrs. G! Can't help but to wonder what his defense claim is going to be!

Absolutely no idea on this. Accident, witness to suicide? Nichole better get her thinking cap on.

I'm willing to bet, though, that they have so much evidence against him, he'll be begging for a plea deal.

Woohoo! Knew it. I kept saying she was at the bottom of a mine shaft.

And I'm so glad to read that SBCSO has been right on top of everything from the beginning. They had many reasons to not go public with what their knew, because it would compromise their investigation, as well as not want the public help in searches for it turns out it was a very dangerous mission, to get in the area where they eventually found Erin.

I'm so glad she's going to be coming home. So many others don't. The family gets closure and the perp gets justice.

Almost from the get go, once hearing about the "special day" and the "hunting trip", most of us knew this was the likely outcome. It was a waiting game, letting SBCSO do their work, take care of their business and complete their investigation.

I imagine a lot of the time was spent in waiting for the warrants for the cell phone records. I only hope that it doesn't come up later that Erin was alive down in that shaft for days, precious days when LE could have had cell phone ping locations that may have made a difference to whether she could have gotten out of this alive.

Good work to SBCSO, and great work for the search and rescue crews who risk their lives every day to bring criminals to justice and missing family members back home.
OT: but locating Erin makes me feel hopeful. Anyone else think if they can find Erin that there is a chance Susan Cox can be found???

I'm thinking of something in particular he or his atty may try to use and if he has any traumatic experience(s) to claim such.

Oh yeh, NOW the Alaska news media is interested in doing a story on this case. Several sleuthers here tried in vain to get them to do a story there and turn up the heat on the Lee's in Alaska.
Actually, it may have turned out better this way because if the media in Alaska DID turn up the heat, the Lee's may have gone into hiding beyond Anchorage, and maybe they wouldn't have been found. Glad I'm not in Nichole's shoes tonight!

You may be right on this. I wouldn't be surprised. At this point, I'm not sure anything would surprise me.

I'm wondering how difficult it may be to determine much about the pregnancy given the time that has elapsed since her death? Especially with not being far along.

Not sure, and I think researching this subject is not my cup of tea. I'll wait until the Coroners office issues their ruling.

Yes! This was almost Mission Impossible!! Over 100 mines and hundreds of square miles of desert and lakes and stuff. A proverbial needle in a haystack. They can find Susan Cox, Susan Powell, April whatshername and many of the missing that have never been heard from again. There is always hope Linas, there is always hope.

Such a sad, sad outcome. I wonder if her phone was found with her. Rip Erin-I hope this will bring Jon and her family some peace. So sad. How does Jon even go back to his life in the marines?

Susan Cox Powell, I dropped the Powell, as Cox was her maiden name. I don't think she'd want to be associated with Josh Powell. Just like Nicole Brown's family not putting Simpson on her grave.

ABC 7 is airing commercials that they will cover Erin Corwin's murder and Lee's arrest later in the broadcast for those in So. Cal.

Gotcha. I'm sure she wouldn't.

I'm wondering if Jon can get a "hardship" discharge from the Marines, with all this going on. How can he ever give 100% after all this, especially since this all came to his doorstep because of his assignment to 29 Palms.

While he likely can, I don't know that that would be the best thing for him. He may want to stay in. His wife is gone. If he leaves the Corps, he'd likely go home to where he met his wife and have to come up with a new career on top of everything else. I hope, whatever he decides, he can eventually have a happy life.

Does CA do DP cases now? Aren't all of the current death row cases in some kind of hiatus?

Also hope JC will have option of transferring if he wants to do so.
