Found Deceased CA - Erin Valenti, 33, from Utah, en-route from Palo Alto to San Jose, 7 Oct 2019 #2

  • #281
My son works in the tech business and started out in Palo Alto.

His Dad (my ex) disappeared in the Bay area several years ago, and the family dealt with trying to get the police to search for him over the phone,as they lived in another state. The police went to his apartment and searched it twice- but he was in his car, parked on the street. They found him there on their 3rd visit :-(

I guess both those things have caused Erin to be on my mind. My son calls and texts me from all over the place as he travels for work- I can only imagine how helpless her parents felt.

Wow....doesn't get more relatable than that :(.

LE already reported no foul play. Also reported her last contact has been cooperative with both family and LE from day one.

We've heard that before.. Not saying they are wrong in this case, just saying it's not always 100% accurate.

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry you and your son had to go through that. :( It's eerily similar. Can't believe it took the 3rd visit to find his car. How horrible.

Interesting... if bipolar can be detected in autopsy
Autopsy Studies Show Brain Inflammation in Unipolar Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Suicide : Bipolar Network News

Also on a side note. My family uses Life360. An app that you invite people to join. It works great as long as gps on phone is activated.

Husband provided early on that their phone pairing, find, tracking, options normally available to him and others failed.

I'm wondering if EV reset her "privacy settings" not to allow her location shared with others.

And just because she said she was friends doesn’t mean she was. The parents had been on the phone with her for hours so they probably had a good idea whether this was true or not. If she suddenly told the police she was with friends, they could have just dismissed that as one of the ways she was being nonsensical.

Not relying on nonsensical here but more so VE alluding to she was not being held against her will (i.e., victim of a crime), and reason not to disclose her location to police.

I think the consensus between family and officer when call ended was that she probably was not currently with "friends," and why Officer spent hours trying to locate her --based on most current info provided from Verizon (re. Menlo area).

I understand the family's need for privacy, but why not make the whole page private or delete the profile? Seems strange to delete certain posts but not others (or were the posts simply made private/friends-only?). I'm no longer on facebook so I can't see her page. fyi, facebook used to allow you to download all your stuff before deleting, so it's possible to retrieve all the memories before deleting a profile.

Makes me wonder whether they've received the autopsy report.

I'm sure EV's fb will eventually be set to legacy but I think they may have more pressing things on their agenda at the moment.

I also think to protect both EV's privacy, and the privacy of her contacts/friends, her prior posts that she had open have been set to private (viewable by friends only).

If you've been here (WS) even a short time-- you're likely aware of the sleuthing that takes place of victims friends off of fb-- including reporters looking for any soundbite.. It's incredulous -- They don't need that invasion now either.

Today, Autopsies results are more efficient than ever. First, coroners/medical examiners are experts, and can determine a significant amount of information for a preliminary report prior to toxicology results. Second - the mandate of electronic healthcare records by physicians generally make it easy to access patient history that will confirm any Rx, and dosage victim was taking.

Family has a very good idea by now -- I've no doubt. Toxicology results will only serve to confirm.

Her Facebook page has been scrubbed almost clean. I've had two people close to me pass away, and while there weren't "circumstances" like this, nobody went through and wiped out their post history, their photos, etc. We left them up for friends and family. We memorialized the page.

Really strange :(. Even if this was some kind of drug thing :(.

Respectfully, they probably were not a national, "mysterious missing person" news story trending for over a week.

EV's page was initially open, and I hate to think of the messages that individuals tagged, exposed on her page, have been receiving both when she was missing and now. Media and others with their own agenda can be incredulous.

I've heard that even the Art Museum in Japan is being harassed about her August 2019 visit -- all from info derived from her fb page.

Not all sleuthers are as respectful as our group.

maybe they donèt want random strangers taking screenshots of her stuff

they may have just changed the privacy settings viewable to family or friends only

ETA: I would likely do the same

On Twitter, user @MariaKPIX (a reporter) posted two photos at 7:27 PM - Oct 12, 2019, one of the police at the death site, and the other of friends and family members crying nearby. Many Twitter users are begging Maria to take down the photo of the crying family members (identified as husband and parents by one user), calling it an intrusion on their grief.
