CA - Father arrested after falsely saying toddler was taken in Oakland carjacking

Oakland police said a man was arrested Sunday and charged with lying that his 3-year-old daughter was abducted in a stolen vehicle — a report that prompted an Amber Alert and frantic search for the child Saturday night.

Police originally said the child, Ciara McCroey, was reported missing around 8 p.m. Saturday. A few hours later, police said the child was found safe and a suspect — who was not identified — was arrested.

But new details emerged Sunday, with police saying that the father of the 3-year-old filed a false police report, which said his child was in a stolen silver 2005 Mercedes-Benz when it was taken in a carjacking.

He has now publicly confirmed his car means more to him than anything else! Now he will probably lose his job, lose his marriage, but by golly, he will have his car!! Maybe he can live in it. Years from now, his daughter will read this and be so embarrassed. Poor kid.
