HURON, Calif. (FOX26) UPDATE — The search for a Huron man who had been missing for weeks is now over.

Friends and family confirm 34-year-old Francisco Madera has been found dead after his body was recovered from a canal.

In an update provided to YourCentralValley.com on Friday, the dive unit with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office recovered Madera from the California Aqueduct, near Goldenrod Avenue and Gale Avenue, southwest of Huron.

Francisco Madera’s body was found on Dec. 31, but his vehicle was found on Dec. 15, crashed into a tree near the aqueduct at Mitchell Avenue and Highway 145. Tracks suggested he had gone into the canal, according to investigators.

I don’t recall seeing that his car crashed into a tree, nor that there were tracks leading to the canal? I wonder why they withheld that information as it seems clear he had an accident and was likely injured or disoriented and went into the canal.
