FREMONT — A hiker found a decomposing body in the muddy marshlands west of Fremont on Friday, authorities said.

The discovery was reported about 4 p.m., said Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.


The Menlo Park Fire Protection District sent one of its specialized boats to help Alameda County Coroner’s Office officials reach the body, which is in a remote area south of where Marshlands Road ends.
Bosques said the body, which was clothed, appeared to have been lying there in the mud for some time.

The coroner’s office will try to identify the body and determine a cause of death, said Bosques, adding that the body isn’t connected to any cases her agency is currently investigating.

FREMONT (KRON) - A body has been found in the Fremont marshlands on Friday afternoon, police said.

Police found the body at around 4 p.m. They say the body has been there for some time.

The body was found near the Dumbarton Bridge.

A person who was walking on a trail far out in the marshlands discovered what appeared to be clothes.
Multiple agencies are investigating.

The coroner is on scene to determine the cause of death.

This man was identified as a 65 year old suicide victim, although his identity was not publicly disclosed.

A man whose decomposed body was found Friday afternoon in a mudflat near the Dumbarton Bridge was identified Tuesday as a 65-year-old Union City resident who committed suicide, authorities said.

A missing persons report for the man had been taken by the California Highway Patrol on April 27 after his car was found abandoned about 5:30 a.m. that day on the San Mateo Bridge, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
