If he has been named by LE and they are obtaining and executing search warrants, he is fair game. Not his mother, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, etc. But you bet you can sleuth him.

Go Sleuths!

Salem

Thank you.

Has he been named by LE? Has the female resident/homeowner also been named by LE?

I realize both have been named in articles.

Creech v. Superior Court of Los Angeles County et al.
Division 2
Case Number B230854
case in 2nd Appellate Court. All I found via free search. Not familiar w court/criminal records search. Hope more experienced posters will search.

Looks like a John L Creech, right age, was released from Federal prison in 2003. Can anyone find the charges? Link

  • #124
I think we can sleuth him, because he was named in a mainstream news article as the man LE was searching for with a warrant. So according to WS rules, he should be sleuthable

I am new here. Can you please tell me where these sleuth rules are ?
I looked in the FAQ but didn't find anything tthere. Thanks

* Sleuthing guidelines: We don’t permit any posts discussing the sleuthing of non-players. Considering there have been no suspects or POI’s named to date, that means pretty much no one is permitted to be sleuthed, except Mickey, This is done to protect the innocent. Think about it – suppose your son (or daughter) gave your next door neighbor a ride to the grocery store, dropped them off with the understanding that they had a ride home. That neighbor disappears and is now missing. Do you want hundreds of people sleuthing your background? Knowing where you live, work, your kid’s names, ages, where they go to school? Would you like every skeleton in your closet to be shaken and posted on a public forum for the world to see? It is not right and not fair to innocent people. Most of these people are only a friend or acquaintance by sheer circumstance. They do not deserve the public scrutiny. It is completely understandable for Law Enforcement to take this approach. However, after their investigation, if they find no basis for suspicion and clear these people, they don’t make their records public either. Simply put, it just ain’t cool to do and we don’t do it here at Websleuths.

* Sleuthing other members: It doesn't matter what they are doing here, we do NOT sleuth other members. Anonymity is taken very seriously on Websleuths. If this continues, a member could lose their posting privileges permanently
recent mod post here from another thread

It can vary a little by case, but in general, we can only sleuth the missing/victim and named POI/suspects. I'm sure a mod could better explain it, if it's not listed in the Terms of Service or Rules threads. You can either pm a mod or alert your own post if you'd like a clearer explanation. I.e., good find on the info above, but since the CP name above has not been named as a suspect, you might need to edit your post above.

It can take a little while to get used to everything, but the mods, environment and fellow posters' honest concerns and hard work make Websleuths a great place to be. :). Welcome, and glad you're here. Not many here for Gavin.

Hi 2rose and WELCOME! :welcome:

You can find the rules right here: The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

As a reminder - sleuthing noncase players is against the rules. Cut and paste from social media sites is against the rules and posting the names and addresses of innocent people is against the rules.

Hope that helps. If you need additional assistance, please feel free to pm me or any other mod and we will give you a hand.

Thanks!

Salem

Thanks for the info! It looks a mod deleted my post. I don't want to break any forum rules ... so can you tell me if that post have been ok if I had JUST given the url & NOT named the actual people in my message ?

Also can you please tell me what is "pm a mod" & how to do it? Thanks!

Each thread has a moderator that assists with keeping members posts in line....and they help us in other ways too. They are very happy to answer any questions you have. You can send a private message to any mod or member. Salem is the mod on this thread so you can contact her in message and ask questions.
If you look at your posts, you will see a triangle with an exclamation point in the top right corner. If you think a post is breaking the rules or is ugly, you can hit that triangle and a mod will be alerted. I hope this helps.

ETA: Salem has a post just above at #127. You can click on her name and there is an option to send her a message.

I am not sure if new members have options to send private messages. I think you need 50 posts or something. But new members CAN use the alert button.

Oops! Looks like I'm speaking in WS (Websleuths) code, lol. Sorry! PM stands for private message and mod for moderators. Salem is our Super duper mod on this thread right now. To reach her, you can click on her name in upper left of her post above, and a drop box will appear with the option to send a private message. Click on that and you can write to her...(I think Salem's a her :blushing:??). You can also go to the very bottom of the page here, click on View Forum Leaders. Those online while have a green light next to their name. There's a "Send PM" box on the right column to select.

And um she's a better source for the answer re: your disappeared post, so now you can try that PM thing. :D

OK, this is new to me too (and I'm not new here). So, let me get this straight:

LE has reportedly been investigating many others, via warrant or not. If I find who these individuals are, they are ok to sleuth as well?

Also, may we sleuth the female resident/homeowner of the Canoga Park residence too, the one who reportedly had contact with Gavin Smith?

Salem's post said since LE gave his name and two search warrants, ok. ^^up there somewhere, LE says they were looking for Johnny. So, IMO, it's no to wife and others, unless LE mentions them, but feel free to double check with Salem. :).

Sorry, I don't see that post.

Just for my own info, would you please link a source that says LE named this individual?

Company Name Pawbucks Cafe, INC.
Contact Person Mr john creech
Company Address 8306 Wilshire Blvd. #491, Beverly Hills, California, United States
Annual Sales Range(USD) US$2.5 Million - US$5 Million

This ad seemed odd for a cafe'...electronics??

Perhaps they wanted to make it an internet accessible cafe to attract more business ?

I am wondering whether the cafe is actually located at this address or somewhere else ???
It might be just a mailing address because all of the businesses for John CREECH use this address. And google maps shows that this address belongs to ...

Beverly Hills Postal Center
8306 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA 48 ft SW
(323) 658-8988

There's also a West Hills Trading Company here that looks to be associated with John. You can click through rudimentary links on this page. Cannot find record on SOS. Info about the website where the West Hills info is posted:
link

There appears to be an error (not yours S&F) about the business info.
John CREECH has a 2004 business "West Hills Trading Company" (WHTC).
But the description given is for a 1998 business HIWTC which stands for "Hi World Trade Centre"
according to this page ... http://www.hiwtc.com/others/about.htm

It is interesting that John CREECH is not otherwise associated with the West Hills area of Los Angeles
... but Gavin SMITH lives there ... so maybe they have some kind of business venture together.

As already noted, it's linked in a previous post. Please read back.

Hadn't looked at criminal records yet.

Peoplefinders shows a birth date of July 22, 1972 for John CREECH @39 associated with wife CW
... that might help those able to do criminal searches.

The link I provided was to the West Hills info. Info re: that biz can be clicked through at the link. The biz info quoted was to describe the context of where that biz was listed, ie as part of the HIWTC listings. That's why I said "info about the website where the West Hills info is listed" in that post. If you go to the West Hills link, And click on the home button at the top left, you'll see the WH post is on the HIWTC website. At the home page or at the WH listing, you can go to the bottom of the page and select About HIWTC to see the info quoted. I provided it as context for the WH listing.

Yep, could be a joint biz venture...?
