Yosemite National Park is asking people to help locate a missing teen who was in the park this week.

Gerardo Cruz Hernandez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds. He has a tattoo on his right wrist and was last seen wearing Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, according to a statement from the park.
People who were in the area of Glacier Point on Wednesday are being asked to contact officials if they saw Hernandez or know of his whereabouts.

The number to call is (209) 379-1992.

Glacier Point isn't really a place you'd park to "hike" - it's an overlook. https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/glacierpoint.htm

This article has more info: http://www.mercedsunstar.com/latest-news/article186401333.html He lives in Santa Barbara and was there seen there Wednesday morning. It's at least a six hour drive to Yosemite from there.

I have a horrible feeling.

I suspect your horrible feeling is the same as my horrible feeling. I hope we are both wrong.

Yep. Presumably they're looking in the fall zones beneath the overlook and beneath any trails associated with it.

I wanted to note in the body of the thread the first name is Gerardo but the photo at top of the post the name is Gabriel.
Picture below with the name of Gabriel?

The first name in the title is Gerardo.
I will check the original post to see if it is the same and reply back to my post. Just seemed needed to be shared.

ETA - No name posted with the photo as above.

As far as I can tell, all earlier reports as well as the post on the Yosemite National Park Facebook page refer to the young man Gerardo Cruz Hernandez, or just Gerardo. It looks like the SFGate piece and reports in news aggregator sites that may have been based on it are the only ones that refer to him as Gabriel Cruz Hernandez. While I guess those earlier reports could've been wrong, my guess is that his first name is Gerardo.

(Several years ago a different and older man, accused rapist Gerardo Cruz-Hernandez, was on the FBI most wanted list. I wonder whether that might've influenced news reports in either direction.)

In any event, he's still missing. :-(

Lately it seems I am finding more errors in what is being reported.

I make many myself but I am not a paid reporter. I am old, like to talk and should have paid better attention in school.
