Just confirmed Gianni was in fact the victim of homicide. Very sad story. I am not going to post why I think it was a drug deal gone bad due to speculation but I have my reasons and it's my belief as it has been. Good luck solving this WS I have enough closure. Sorry to whoever I offended with my earlier posts. Ciao!

thebestinthewest, you can share or choose not to share here. But if you have details about how these murders would have come about, please do contact the investigators working the case.

Anything to speed the capture of a ruthless murderer(s), attempt to bring answers and closure for the families and help the community deal with making sense of this tragedy.

This is a cut & paste from the story:

"Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to contact Det. Rick Wheeler at (951) 353-7134 or Det. Rick Cobb at (951) 353-7135."

Just to clarify, does the term homicide here definitely mean murder and not suicide, unlike before?

I think it's safe to say it does, combined with the first coroner press release here that states 'suspicious circumstances'. I have only ever seen coroners state ' 'no apparent suspicious circumstances' (or similar) when they suspect suicide.

If finger prints were still possible. It seems like he was in the trunk for a much shorter time then we presumed. Sounds like the 2 day report is likely the most accurate.

I agree AmandaFast. There were two different timelines given on how long the car had been there. 1) only a couple of days, as the Subway employee usually parked in that space 2) a little over a week from the woman who placed food out for the stray cats.

Either one could possibly fit the decomposition of the body to use fingerprinting for ID. Of course this is MOO as I'm certainly not an expert!

I am no expert, but I think the skin would preserve better than softer tissues. They just need to get the skin under a microscope and shoot some pics and then compare them.

Then I wonder how they got confirmed fingerprint matches? How did LE get a fingerprint match; was Gianni booked and printed in his past...

I'm thinking they are pretty clear it was a homicide/murder and not a suicide.

BBM:

Local court records show that Gianni Belvedere doesn't have any criminal record except a speeding ticket dating back to 2009.

IMO there was not just one killer, there were at least 2-3 involved. This goes back to the possible suspect seen at the mall after shooting IF and SB getting into the back seat of a later model grey Honda.

Please forgive me if I missed this earlier. Is there any surveillance video of the area of the mall parking lot where the first two victims were found? I wonder if there's a car visible nearby that might somehow match up with a suspect vehicle, or trigger someone's memory who maybe saw it but didn't think anything of it at the time.

I have no clue how they match fingerprints. Of course people are printed all the time for other things such as becoming a notary, real estate license or almost any professional license. Maybe they lifted them off of things from some other property at his home, etc.

So, now we wait and see if they disclose his COD

At least they found Gianni and his family can bring some closure. I can't imagine losing two sons like this.

I was going to be shocked if it wasn't Gianni, but I'm still sorry to see it confirmed. RIP Gianni.

Regarding the fingerprints, just a few thoughts. First they could be on file for all sorts of reasons. The first one that came to mind is maybe a previous employer. For example I used to work in financial services and I know my prints are on file with at least one government agency from that - it was required to get my license. I also did volunteer work with autistic kids at one point and they took fingerprints... no idea where or if those are on file. There are a number of 'innocent' reasons someone could have prints on file, IMO. ETA: Sandyggo you and I were posting the same thought at the same time.

Another thought, on how they identified him - it makes me kind of sick to think about but I wonder if there were prints inside the trunk, particularly under the trunk lid or on the back near the taillights. If he was in there alive for any length of time, I imagine there would be (sorry for the visual, I tried to word it delicately).

There was never any video released and LE was very hush, hush on anything they had viewed on CCTV. The car description came from witnesses in the parking lot at the time and LE reported on it.

I'm certain LE has a lot of information that was withheld in the event it turned out the way it did. MOO

There are 3 Jack in the Box stores in my area. All of them are in the parking lots of other stores. One is in the side parking lot of Babies R Us and Old Navy. Another is off the side parking lot of Walmart, and another is in the back of the mall but shares the parking lot. I have never seem one with it's own parking lot, not connected to a group parking lot. Is this Jack in the Box the same? I guess my point is, he could have been in a parking lot close by and moved there later, or unless JITB has it's own cameras, not sure if other stores would be able to catch a vehicle on theirs. ( I feel like I used tpp many words trying to make sense!!)

It might be that LE has an idea of who is responsible for the first two murders and that is the reason Gianni was never named a POI.

I hope so. LE has been investigating the mall shootings for a month now. There was some reason they held off naming Gianni as a POI. LE already has some idea which direction to go in investigating the person or people who did this, IMO.

Two or more people? I have a hard time imagining only one person was able to do this alone.

Meanwhile, there's at least one assassin on the loose, ice cold enough to take lives at Christmas.

Heartbreaking and scary....

Yes, it's a disturbing thought. Wonder if they live in San Diego, and are in the mall right now. In other words, it's scary. :scared:

In California they take your thumb print when you get a drivers license or ID card at the DMV. I just had it done last week. If he had a CA license then they would have at least his right thumbprint on file.
