I've seen it happen a few times, not a triple homicide, but two friends where the lender gets angry and talks about revenge. It seems to stem from two factors:

1. The financial loss.
2. The lender being insulted when the borrower uses the lender's "jerk" behavior as a reason he's not paying.

There are many, many proverbs about not loaning money to friends, but people still do it. It rarely ends well.

Agree, but killing the debtor guarantees you'll never see the money. The old breaking a few bones technique works better and won't land you the death penalty if you get caught.

A boat of ecstacy is 1000 pills and probably $2500-$5000 you can sell each pill of x at a rave for $15-$20 it's been a long time since I went to a rave but I'm pretty sure the big new years eve rave is 2gether as 1 I'm not sure if it's still going on because Monster Massive was canceled the past few years (my personal fav rave)

After a while, it becomes pretty obvious you're not getting the money anyway. People with broken bones can call the police. Dead people can't even talk to anybody.

That it happened on Christmas Eve is a possible indicator that fuel may have been added to the fire. The killer may have had to buy his mother and girlfriends lesser gifts because he had less money due to somebody pocketing his money as their own.

Do any bangers still wear khakis? Maybe someone with friends in low places hired some kid(s) to carry this out.

There is a $10,000 reward. Putting out the details of the clothing may get one of the POI so called friends to dob him in. People know what other people wear. O/T can't believe so many places have tan pants as their uniform. Trying to think back when I last saw a pair of tan pants. Here in Australia it is usually black with white shirt or blouse.

Or if you buy something with your own money on the premise someone else was going to buy it from you but you get stuck with it because they don't hold up their end of the deal for whatever reason such as fear of getting caught etc

Like many others my first thoughts were Target or Best Buy, but I think khakis/tan pants are very common just about anywhere with a "business casual" dress code... in other words you have to dress up, sorta, but you can't wear denim/jeans. At least near where I live this means thousands of people who work in customer service/call centers too. Unfortunately that doesn't help narrow things down much. :( I think the hoodie is probably much less common so I hope that sparks a memory for someone.

It bothers me that after LE has had time to look at cell phone pings, computers, and business records that they seem to be depending on who spotted this man wearing tan pants. Wonder if they have nothing else to go on. It also bothers me that they can't say which race this man is from what they have on camera.

Why did they include how this case was going to be investigated morally and ethically?
What a strange statement.

BBM I don't know why it needs to be said unless they're paranoid of their reputation.

"Person of interest" sought in triple murder

"I understand the want for information in this case. ... I can assure you that if this case can be solved, this case will be solved, and it will be solved lawfully, morally and ethically," SDPD homicide Lt. Mike Hastings said. "I expect to be releasing additional information if it is significant and as it comes about."

I have been thinking of this statement since I watched and listen to it live. Why say this in this way?

Adidas makes jackets that are black with 3 white stripes around the biceps. Three white stripes is a trademarked logo for Adidas. I haven't found a picture of one that has a hood yet.

Maybe that's what they meant by unique stripes -- brand logo stripes.

Maybe the suspect had on a regular black hoodie and then the Adidas jacket over it?
My brother has a striped green/white/black (Artic Cat) jacket (no hood) OVER a (purple or gray) hoodie.
Many people might describe that as a jacket with a hood... but it's actually 2 different jackets.
If both jackets happened to match then it'd be even easier to think they were ONE jacket. :twocents:

Because a lot of people are not fans of them because of other cases.
So yes, he's worried about the departments reputation. :twocents:

The most valuable info released at today's press conference was the POI sightings, but facts remain vague as noted in following timeline . . .
10 p.m. Gianni last seen, conflicting reports where - mall, Mission Valley, Tierrasanta?
11:15 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. POI seen at the mall - security cameras, Macy's, parking lot?
1:15 a.m. Ilona and Salvatore were shot in mall parking lot
1:15 a.m. POI seen leaving in dark gray Honda sedan - witness reports

There's a strong resemblance between the described POI's vehicle and Gianni's dark green Toyota Camry. Since Gianni was last seen at 10 p.m., it's possible he was abducted before the shooting.

I recall one witness reporting him as a black male. From the start, I found it odd he was described as "race unknown". The conflicting reports lead me to believe he was dark complected. Italian and Hispanic can be indiscernible.

Gianni was known to be missing immediately following the shooting. I'd think the border checkpoint surveillance cameras would be the first place to look for his car. To get from San Diego to Riverside, you must pass the Temecula checkpoint on the I-15. Just saying.

I didn't watch the PC so am I to assume from what has been posted here that there was no standard "this person is considered armed and dangerous" and "don't try to apprehend him yourself" type warning? No warning to the public at all?

I did not hear a public notice nor a plea. Tan pants, between 5'10 and 6ft. If they can catch him they will, morally and ethically of course.

Nope...not a word about the publics safety. IMO it's very clear LE knows this is a "personal" killing. LE has knowledge of the POI being in the Mall at two separate times which means they have him/her on video. It's not just a witness statement.

Thank you.

Well now that is odd. Apparently they don't believe there's a threat to the public at large. Hmmmm.
