Wow just watching this on abc7 live now. "Looks like a homicide." Body unidentified. Body found in trunk.

:(

Not sure if homicide or suicide is what I wanted to hear but just knew one or the other was inevitable. My prayers go out to the family :(

Wow. Wonder if the car has been there all this time and never reported. Further heartbreak for the family. My thoughts are with them.

Hope finding Gianni's car (and likely Gianni) provides investigators with evidence they need to solve this bizarre and very sad case.

Don't have a link, but CH 10 reported that the car hadn't been there a long time. Time=? Hours? Days? Two women were telling that to a local reporter? Does anyone have a link to a Riverside News Station?

Waiting waiting waiting. At first, I thought, trunk - has to be a homicide. But then again, really it doesn't have to. Whatever it was the whole thing is just awful. Truly desperately, awful. These were beautiful people and it is painful to know all three are gone.
But call me a twisted romantic, I was hoping that if Gianni was deceased, that it was by way of homicide, and not suicide. So, here I am, sad, but still hoping. Somehow I want to remember them, all three, as beautiful as they seemed to be, and not tainted.

Hopefully the restaurant and places nearby would have CCTV of the parking lot? That should answer a fairfew questions: who was driving? how many ppl in the vehicle? if G turned up alone, what happened next etc etc

  • #367
Even though the news is reporting that the car has not been there "long", they also reported that the body was very decomposed. So, where has this car been prior to this? Who was driving? Who is in the trunk? Obviously talking out loud here!!!

I agree, this is so strange!

It would be even weirder if Giovanni's Time of death (assuming it is him) was before Sal and Ilona.

I haven't seen the parents talk much (if at all) and I just get this feeling like there is something way bigger going on here n

This is from Riverside news...not much more than pictures.

An investigation into the slaying of a missing man’s fiancee and brother in San Diego moved into Riverside on Friday, Jan. 17, when a badly decomposed body was discovered in the trunk of the missing man’s car.

San Diego police arrived at a parking lot next to a Jack in the Box at the corner of Van Buren Boulevard and Trautwein Road and took part in the investigation.

Riverside police Lt. Russ Shubert said that about noon, someone reported a foul odor coming from a vehicle. Police examined the vehicle and found the body in the trunk, Lt. Val Graham said. An employee of a business in the shopping center told police that she had seen the car parked there for several days.

Just heard and haven't even had time to get the story. Grateful to all of you for posting the news articles. I know it was only a matter of time before Gianni was found, but it is still such sad, sad news. Prayers to the family and loved ones.

I hope the family gets some answers soon.

I wonder why Riverside. It's about 80 mins from the mall to that Jack in the Box. The restaurant is open 24 hours.

I'm surprised it took that long for someone to notify authorities. The car still had the Utah plate on it which would stand out.

Wow, if this is a homicide, I've gotta to ask, who has it out for all three of these people? I didn't see this coming at all! It is still early but wow.

I really need to know just how long his car was there. Where were all the tow truck drivers looking to tow anybody's car away? I'm guessing that car has been there since the mall incident, but I should hold off assuming anything.

OT- This brings to mind another case here in San Diego where the body of a young woman was found in the trunk of her car and ruled suicide. There weren't any answers in that case, just sadness and questions left unanswered. Truthfully, I had a hard time dealing with what her last moments were like, and found it heartbreaking.

It will be interesting to see what they say.

Girl was supposed to go up north for a job interview.

Her car turned up found here in a business complex in San Diego with her body in it (just over the freeway from Tierrasanta, essentially)

Stab wounds and other things that had them quite sure it was going to be homicide.

Nope. Suicide.
Investigators said the victim had suffered trauma to her body.

“I would say blunt force trauma maybe, maybe a stabbing type of thing,” said Lt. Duran.

<snip>

At this time the death is being ruled as “suspicious”, but signs already point to homicide.

“When a victim is found in a trunk it’s typically foul play,” said Lt. Duran. ”They wouldn’t voluntarily go in the truck of a vehicle let’s put it that way.”

Determination:

A 23-year-old woman’s death, initially deemed suspicious, has been ruled a suicide by the county medical examiner’s office.

According to a report released by the ME on Sunday, San Diego resident Grace Ann Hall – who was found dead in the trunk of her car on Apr. 18 – died as a result of acute ethylene glycol poisoning. Her manner of death has been ruled a suicide.

Yep, you and I notice some of the same things, TravelingBug. We both remember Grace Anne's case.

Oh this is so sad. I hadn't posted on this thread before but have been following along.

For those not familiar with it Jack in the Box is a fast food place, and a lot of them have 24 hour drive thru's.

I have such a hard time believing the car's been sitting there almost a month and no one's called, had it towed, etc. At least around here (I'm in Northern CA), we have a number of people who are recently homeless living in their cars in parking lots, and they're constantly made to 'move along' or getting warning noticed on the cars. If nothing else I can't believe a parking lot cleaning service didn't notice the car.

So sad. :(

Just caught up on this case. Very strange!

Re Ilana's 911 call - I haven't heard any of it, but I will say that head injuries (including gun shot) can sometimes involve an isolated segment of the brain that may impact on the person's abilities (particularly emotional/cognitive/physical) without affecting other functions. TravelingBug, I'd love to know what her emotional levels were like in the call - did she sound flat, non-emotive? Confusion is common, so even if she seemed calm, she may have been struggling with comprehension, memory issues, etc. Then as the brain bleed progressed, she would have deteriorated and more functions would have been affected.

I keep jumping between potential scenarios - I do hope Gianni isn't responsible, but the flipside of that is maybe it was a professional hit and he was taken and hurt somewhere else. After reading the last few pages of posts, I can't help but wonder if there is something bigger going on, and this is some sort of payback, warning.

Here are two more way out (!!) possibilities - seems like everything's worth considering right now with such little reporting.

-could there have been a ransom, and only certain family members are aware (not the ones speaking out)?
-could Gianni be caught up in something, and the FBI, etc have him somewhere safe, but they are keeping this quiet to try to apprehend the shooter/s?

Both these scenarios could explain the lack of new info, the withdrawal of info, and confusion amongst family members.

I warned you they were way out!!!

I posted this a while back (oh dear, quoting myself :blushing: )

I still wonder about a possible ransom, or was a family member caught up in something. It seems very odd to kill 2 people at one site, then leave with another person and kill them elsewhere. Apart from keeping him alive for a particular reason (ransom, threat, encite fear in others close to him) I guess they could have made him drive somewhere just for convenience.

But with two cars involved, I am leaning more towards a much more twisted scenario. I hope the police are onto this.
