Very interesting, this new information makes me wonder why Ilona didn't know exactly where she was when she called 911. If she was actually working at macys, and had not yet been shot, why would she not know she was right outside macys? I previously attributed that to her being in shock from a head wound.

This whole thing makes my stomach hurt. If there is an unknown assailant SDPD needs to let people know more details before it happens to someone else. Where do we locate a copy of the incident report? Also without sounding morbid i wonder if there is a way to get a pic of Gianni's body to see how long its been there ugh that stupid news blurring maybe me even consider it. There is supposed to be an interview with the homicide detective at 5. I remember right after it happened and the few days after maybe over a week media wasnt giving the story much attention maybe because of law enforcement. I figured Nancy Grace would have covered this by now with one of her names "The Christmas Eve shooter. Between my friends and myself Mission Valley mall is considered the ghetto mall maybe it was a disagreement? This needs to get solved so everyone can feel safe and be safe for that matter.

Maybe because the Macy's home is separate from regular Macys. Might have caused the confusion?

Well at least now I understand why they pulled the 9-1-1 tape after it was released. I'm assuming it wasn't known right away that she had died during the call. Unfortunately now that this is known it means there's no hope of it being released again. Now its evidence. Unless this goes to trial we won't hear it again. I'm also assuming that Sal was shot before she made the call. I always thought he was shot first because there was no attempt to drive off. I also thought the gun shots through the lower part of the window on passenger side were strange. Now I'm thinking they were so low because she was ducking down to protect herself. So sad.

Certainly not clear as to why Ilona was confused about her whereabouts but IMO it was nerves when placing the call and the possibility that Sal was already shot that caused the confusion. The car was not located over on Camino de La Reina where Macy's Home is located.

Thank you Curious Me for keeping us all updated! We should be hearing soon on the COD of Gianni as the coroner's report should have been 2-3 weeks for completion since finding him 1/17. I check regularly on the site and still no update. The recent news reports state that LE has many leads and are working on the case as a first priority so I can only hope they are close to finding the killer(s) soon!

  • #907
Did anyone catch the interview that was supposed to happen at 5 with LE?

Here's the news article and there's also two short news videos.

You know I'm curious. Is x-ray a common term for a woman? I didn't know that. What's the term for a man?

Gosh, if only officiers got there sooner, they might've actually caught the killer. Seems like the killer was taking such risky chances. I really want to find out who did this. These murders have got to be solved.

911 call reveals new information in triple murder
http://www.cbs8.com/story/24631133/new-details-revealed-in-triple-murder

"The CHP incident detail report shows Flint's 911 call was picked up 1:10 a.m. A short time later, at 1:13 a.m., the dispatcher wrote "X-ray (woman) said I'm at Mission Valley Westhills Mall." The mall's correct name is the Westfield Mall. We're not sure if the mistake was a typo, or if Flint misspoke. We also don't know if Salvatore Belvedere has been shot at the time."

"Twenty-three seconds later, the dispatcher's log reads, "then yelled ouch I've been shot." Twenty-six seconds after that, at 1:14 a.m., the RP (reporting party) stopped talking."

I believe X-ray might refer to the Double - X chromosome we girls carry. I could be wrong, but it does make sense.

Perhaps one of our scanner experts could chime in (hope that's ok to post)?

Thanks. That's what I was thinking.

I couldn't find it on the list here.
http://www.tech-faq.com/police-scanner-codes.html

Here it says x-ray is a scanner code for a burglary, not a woman.
http://www.policecodes.net/nicknames/X-Ray

Thinking of Ilona making that 911 call and how help was just minutes away. How I wish they could've caught the shooter before he ended her life.

  • #911
What was Ilona phoning 911 for before she was shot?

  • #912
I found this link that states:

X = Female involved

http://www.yougetinfo.com/info/polcodes.html

So, I can comfortably infer X-ray for X in scanner/dispatch lingo....

ETA: On some scanners I've personally heard descriptions for white female as Whiskey Foxtrot & black male as Bravo Mike, etc.

Hope this helps....

Gosh I wonder what she was saying when her call was answered at 1:10 and when she said she was at the mall at 1:13. Is is possibly that the "X-Ray" comment might mean she or Sal were being or had been robbed? Maybe someone was trying to break into their car? Maybe they witnessed someone committing a crime? I'm still not sure how Gianni plays in to this though. What are the chances that the two crimes aren't connected? I know it's slim but stranger things have happened.

If it was a robbery you'd think sdpd would put more effort into having the public help. Gianni was last seen at 10pm on Friars according to law enforcement. I thought to myself maybe Sal called Gianni to help him if he was having problems with someone or maybe some guy was hitting on Ilona and wouldn't back off or let's say Sal and Gianni were together on Friars around 10pm they got in a fight with someone that person retaliates at 2 different times with 2 different angry friends after following them? I don't think Gianni was kidnapped from his house his parents would have noticed something. Tierra Santa from what I understand is very closely knit with neighbors and everyone knows each other and looks out for each others kids my business partner lives there and has raised his family there for 2.5 decades. I think this was more than one person and more than 5 people know what happened and there is going to be double that as people talk this crime would give a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 some real street stripes due to how brazen and public it was and for someone to do it that publicly they are not afraid of prison and they are more than likely boastful trying to Impress other dirt bags or scare people into doing what they want

Shot in the head just like Ilona and Sal. Doesn't get anymore personal than that!!!

Now, I just watched 8News and they announced Gianni's COD as being multiple gun shots to the head. I doubted whether that was correct, or if perhaps it was written misleading. Went to their article, and I don't see where they actually report the cause of death in this article. There's a big difference between one gun shot to multiple, so I hope that will be cleared up soon. They haven't told us if there was a gun in the trunk? Doubt there was though.

This article gives the COD in the title, and in the article itself. It sounds like only one gun shot wound in the head from this article.

Police: Gianni Belvedere shot in head
http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/feb/07/gianni-belvedere-autopsy-findings-released/

"Homicide victim Gianni Belvedere, whose decomposing body was found in the trunk of a car in Riverside last month, died from a gunshot wound to the head, San Diego police said Friday."

The 7 San Diego article leaves it open to possibility of more than one wound:
Preliminary autopsy findings reveal Gianni could not survive the gunshot wound or wounds

The third victim of an unsolved triple-homicide case that has gripped San Diego since Christmas Eve died as a result of fatal gunshot wound(s) to the head, the San Diego Police Department confirmed Friday.

The SDPD said San Diego resident-turned-missing-person Gianni Belvedere, 24, was not able to survive injuries sustained in some sort of shooting, according to preliminary findings from the Riverside Medical Examiner’s office. His final autopsy report has not yet been completed, but San Diego police said this gives new insight into how he died.

Interesting article about recent study on how hitmen operate

A few snipped comments from article:

In actuality, the majority of killers select jejune settings for their crimes, have occasionally bumbling performances, and are often hired by contractors with lame motivations.

The majority of the victims were selected by the contractor for murder on the basis of a sour business deal or rivalry

The murders did not occur in the cinematic locations of “smoky rooms, bars and casinos frequented by gangsters.” Instead, the victims were killed in drab suburbia, often “out in the open, on pavements, sometimes as the target was out walking their dog, or going shopping, with passers-by watching on in abject horror.”
