This case is strange. Seems they can't ID her as they have no info and no PMI. I'll catalogue matches from Sacramento County and it's bordering counties until the beginning of 1970. I just realized this Doe is probably a child but I'd say her age would stretch to about 25. Still cataloguing other matches just in case.

Teresa Faye Hammon - May 1981

Gail Deann Skelton - September 1980

Khymbrly Marcella Scruggs - January 1980 (Already mentioned)

Alma Violet Root - January 1980

Teresa Lynn McKinley - September 1979

Tara Cosette Cossey - June 1979

Margaret Ellen Rucker - December 1978

Gabriele Uralli - September 1978

Norma Louise Houghland - July 1978

Julie Elizabeth Soracco - August 1977

Rebecca Rodriguez - July 1977

Evangeline Rodriguez Silva - July 1977

Kimberly Ann Stewart - May 1977

Lisa Dickinson - September 1976

Christine May Gregg - June 1976

Laura Maureen Davis - July 1974

Paula Ann Pope - September 1972

Ingrid Angela Anderson - May 1971

Denise Kathleen Anderson - April 1971

Donna Ann Lass - September 1970

Ooh. This’ll be tough. Gosh, she could literally be anyone. It’s so difficult when you have just a few pieces to work with.

While there are many possibilities, I am planning to focus on just one for now. Alma Root matches best IMO. She's a child, she went missing from Sacramento which is less than 30 minutes from Gristmill and she's missing from only a year prior which seems like a match considering what we're working with.

I’d submit her. We don’t have an idea about the Doe’s appearance so she could be anyone. Is there any confirmation the Doe was a young girl and not a woman?

The only confirmation we have that this is a child is the fact that while the age says unknown on the main page for this Doe, the listing says "child". This leads me to believe that the think she's under 18, but don't know if she's a small girl or a teenager.

I would guess if she’s listed as a “child” they checked her bones and determined based on density that she was prepubescent, probably pre-adolescence. About 5-10 maybe.

I wonder if this was a case of a known drowning.

Sacramento Coroners website has multiple jane does listed as unidentified that are actually identified. This case isnt in doe Network or NamUs, so I have no way to definitively determine that this case is open.

I think our best bet is to look for matches regardless.

I have reached out to confirm this case is still open. Hopefully I hear back

This case is still unidentified.
Now that we know this is still a Jane Doe case, I wonder if these remains belong to Alma Root.

I believe they are working on getting her into NamUs. Fingers crossed
Hope so too. Thank you for bringing this case back into the public eye and the eye of law enforcement.

That’s great news. She deserves her name back. I see her age is listed as unknown. Some sources are saying child. Especially some here. Is there any conclusive evidence that she was in fact a young girl and not a woman?

"The teeth show considerable wear and marked flattening" - Possibly means she may have grinded her teeth in life?

I grind my teeth - this is exactly what happens. It could be a possibility. Or since her age is uncertain, if she was older she may have had orthodontics at some point in her life and had her teeth shaved down for a more clean and straight look. I had this too when I was in braces. My teeth are super sensitive as a result. Even breathing sometimes makes them hurt. I wear a guard over my teeth except when I’m eating or brushing. Could be a possibility with the grinding teeth.
