Someone spotted something with clothing in the ocean about 50 miles away from crash. However, they still haven't found anything even though they immediately searched.
35 gas stations along their route. Fliers are all along the coast looking for info.

The search warrant for the Washington home included:
Travel Itinerary, bank records, credit card receipts, phone records, restaurant receipts, credit card receipts, hotel receipts, notes related to travel and notes regarding care for children. They do not know if any of is was found (according to staff writer from the local newspaper). A Laptop and ipad were found.
Need to watch the next hours report now....

I did post the link that says a job like Sarah's makes $53,000 a year. I wonder how they traveled all over, bought a $375000 house on that income only. Even if they paid no taxes because of so many deductions, it would not cover the mortgage, utilities, clothes, food, gas for a family of that size even if they shopped at Goodwill

Another consideration...taxes are due April 15th. It'll be interesting to see if their financial situation played any part in this.

Only 1 each of those? Some have said they were gamers. If true, seems there'd be a bit more computer equipment. Wondering if any implicating iPads or laptops were taken on the trip, with intention of losing them in the crash as well.

The tooth can still have its root if it’s knocked out. If taken immediately to a dental specialist they can often be reimplanted successfully. My retired teacher husband more than once searched for knocked out teeth on the playground for just this reason. Why this poor child wasn’t taken to a dentist with the tooth is beyond me and more proof of abuse.

Oh yeah, you put them in milk and go straight to an emergency dentist. I'd forgotten that protocol
Anyway some of my baby teeth did still have the root but I never had one knocked out they either came out on their own or the aforementioned pliers eventually got 'em.

I'm one that doesn't see anything unusual about this. My husband and I work from home. We homeschooled our son last year (our daughter wasn't in school yet). We run on a completely different schedule from everyone else in our part of the world-we flip our days and nights for no other reason than we simply prefer doing things at night. During the kids' breaks, we don't even give them bedtimes. My 11-year-old can frequently be found doing things as the sun is coming up because he hasn't gone to bed yet. And if you were to sleuth me and look at my You Tube channel, or my son's, you would also find 2am "dance sessions." You'd also find "midnight adventures" with us going on walks through the woods, to the next county over for Steak and Shake, or boardgame marathons.

You are right. Hopefully the kids really enjoyed the dance sessions. It probably wasn't a torturous activity, but it does show that Hannah being up at 1:30 with the rest of the family might have been a regular enough occurrence.

It also shows, whether I love it or not, that Jen had some awareness that kids dancing in their undies should have some privacy about it, if they so desire. Jmo.

I'm pretty sure we can discuss this 'til the cows come home, as everyone has a subjective opinion as to where they draw the line concerning healthy-thin and dangerously skinny. Also pretty sure there will never be a consensus based on appearances alone. (I'm one of those that would not have become alarmed just looking at the photos, FWIW.)

What we can all agree on is the fact that LE and social services and even neighbors and former friends were made aware along the way that some of the kids were being punished via withholding food. So, yes, it appears likely that was done as punishment. Regardless of how anyone thinks they looked. So...IMO, it's sidetracking to go into detail about why we each have the subjective standard we do. Maybe we can just agree it sounds fairly certain at least a few of them were hungry as a result of increasingly bad disciplinary tactics.

Even Stevie Wonder could see that photo of Jeremiah I believe? looking like a "75 cents a day will feed a child in africa" commercial behind a guitar was all kinds of wrong. There is a photo of Abigail skin and bones that I saw today.. so abnormally tiny and skeletal. So it wasn't just a few of of them being hungry, there are photos of each child looking like stick figures.. except for Sierra. I cannot find many photos of her, probably as she was not a favorite like Devonte. You are right we can go back and forth for days.. but I'm not sure why you are trying to control the narrative of them "being hungry as a result of increasingly bad disciplinary tactics" and not just call it was it is/was: being starved to death, per Devonte's words out of his mouth to his neighbor. So I respectfully disagree with your reply to me.

Years ago, hubby took one of our kids skating when she was ~7. She got tired (later turned out to be ear inf), started crying, so hubby heads to parking lot, with sobbing child in tow, and comes home.
Within 10 minutes of them getting home & daughter calmed down in her room, police were on doorstep asking questions. Someone had taken plate number, descriptions, etc and called 911 immediately. When we told police she was ours and fine, they asked if they could see her. Called her downstairs, they asked her a few innocuous questions, thanked us, and left.

We were stunned - and relieved! - that a stranger erred on the side of care and caution.

BTW, we used inside-voice words-only for discipline, always. No deprivations, certainly never physical punishment.

I've wondered the same thing. If the neighbors left the food DH asked for, and if they left the food, was it still there?

Poppyflower, your thought that they were sleeping at the turn-off makes complete sense to me. I couldn't get my head around everybody in the car--or even both adult women in the car---being conscious and aware of what was going on from the get-go. Your theory makes all of this much more plausible. Explains why people weren't wearing seat belts, too.

Did we ever hear if the neighbors did end up leaving the food DH asked for (the case of PB, cured meats, tortillas)?

Ashleigh Banfield has the sheriff on again this evening.
They are still waiting on news about the cell phone found nearby.
The SUV tumbled several times - most likely hitting the front end first. Sheriff said there's a large V shape in the bumper. A door was torn off and is laying part way down the cliff.
Ummm......I'm trying to remember. He verified again that NO ONE was wearing a seat belt. The SUV was smashed down like an accordion. Sarah was found inside rear between the seats and roof.
I'm gonna rewatch to get more info.

Remember those shape toys for babies where there's either a big cube or sphere with shapes cut out and the baby takes little plastic shapes and matches them to the right shapes to put them in? The older ones were spheres that you had to pull apart and twist to open the middle then you kinda shook the toys out of there? And sometimes if you or baby angled them (cube kind or sphere kind both) just right while shaking it sometimes a piece or two would slide out?

IMO

Not run, just that there was late night activity at the house. I do think dancing into all hours of the night is a little odd, especially if they are undernourished, but they could just keep late hours, as another poster mentions. Many kids do love to dance until they drop all on their own, it is true.

Ashleigh Banfield Thursday Second Hour Info:

No Accident, Intentional.
"Wet" cell phone found in the area on the side of the road. Still waiting on forensics to see if it belongs to one of the Hart women. Hoping for more information on the phone sometime next week.
She's (Ashleigh) doing a great job shouting from the rooftop about anyone spotting this car or the family and calling in.
They are positive that the woman in the picture IS Jennifer - she used a club card from the grocery store. The clothes she's wearing in the photo are the same clothes she was recovered in. Also they have the video of the SUV in the Safeway parking lot at the same time. They are unable to see how many people are in the SUV in the video. They also cannot see the license plate.
Jennifer was the one driving - they know via autopsy.
According to the Sheriff - They have no reason to withhold information from the press so as they learn the info, they will share it with the public.
The sheriff also requests that if anyone sees three children anywhere, hitchhiking or hiding in the woods, they'd like to know and requests the public to call in.

Ashleigh is hell bent on wanting to know if all the windows were blown out - but I personally think this is a moot point - of course they were if the vehicle tumbled and landed hard. But I see where she's going, she wants to know if the missing could have been thrown out as the other three were. There was also a sunroof that a body could have been thrown from.

Sheriff says there is a lot of 'stuff' missing - luggage, camping equipment if they had it, etc. They are still trying to find out where they were, if they were at a hotel or camping.

Actually, interestingly enough, when I moved from Midwest to west coast and got a relocation allowance it was to a new company. It really just depends on your relevant experience and how badly they need your specific skill set in their district or region. In my case I posted great sales numbers, I went into a store where sales had slumped under the current management. Not that it makes a big difference to any of this, just offering an alternative perspective to your line of thinking.

It could be another factor, of what seems to be many, but I looked up their property on their county assessors site, last year's taxes were paid, since their loan is so new I find it likely their property taxes are rolled into their mortgage and not due as a lump sum. I know mine are. As far as income tax goes, any assistance/subsidies they may have received would be tax free, and with 6 dependents on Sarah's income they would be looking at a tax refund, not have to pay in. IMO

Tooth photo was dated May 15 2012
I got the order of incidents wrong, the one needing stitches to the mouth, busted lip was a "few years ago" at the time of the loss of the front teeth (it would appear the comment I was looking at is in relation to the tooth photo post). Reason for the 2012 incident was same as last time "running in the hall and tripped on shoes".

I wonder if they parked on the cliff to watch the sun rise, or meditate. They were meditating in the birthday video. I could see them driving out there, parking, and then dozing without seat belts for a little bit waiting for the sun to start coming up. While sitting there, Jen hits the gas and over they go. It would happen so fast they would have had NO time to react.

O really don’t think they meditated regularly. That was for photo ops. JMO MOO.

Yeah, that is one answer to the question "what could you do?". Get the license of the car & report what you've witnessed.

OT My aunt had a similar experience. She had to leave a Walmart because her small child was throwing a fit about a toy. He received a swat on his clothed & diapered behind in the parking lot and LE knocked on the door once they were home. She invited them in, showed them the now napping in bed kiddo had no bruises (pulling back blankets, lifting his shirt) and all was well. She wasn't exactly relieved someone cared enough to call, but she certainly fully cooperated with nothing to hide.
