CA - Hannah Rachel Collins, 30, from Mississippi, found dead & wrapped in plastic by mom inside son's LA bedroom, Aug 2023 *hunt for 26yo suspect*

So now there are at least two women that have been recently murdered, suspects are unidentified male Hispanic men with ties to South LA and in their late 20s. Hannah Rachel Collins and Rachel Morin (found murdered in Maryland, suspect seen on a Ring camera during home invasion in March in LA).

My guess is, there's zero connection at all between these two cases.

I'm confused why the young man hasn't been named. I mean I get they don't know COD and therefore cannot charge him with causing her death. But at the very least shouldn't he be charged with abuse of a corpse or failing to report a death or any one of those crimes that apply to mishandling of remains? Why is this guy's name not out there?

I mentioned this on the thread for Rachel. The timeline does not seem to match, but I wondered if it could be why the suspect name in Hannah’s case was not released.

And why no contact by LAPD to Hannah’s mother?
BBM

Collins’ mother, choosing to remain unnamed, said that she was notified of her daughter’s death by the medical examiner’s office at around 8:15 a.m. on August 14. However, she has yet to be contacted by detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department. Expressing her distress, the grieving mother stated on Thursday, “Someone murdered my daughter – that’s homicide. Someone wrapped her in [plastic] wrap, someone did that to her… I don’t understand why his name is kept a secret.” Collins’ mother questioned the timeline of events, wondering, “I don’t even know how long she was dead. Did his mother give him time to run, then call [police]? Something is not right here.”

I think the Hannah Collins murder could be linked to Rachel Morin. The video of the home burglary/assault suspect fits the description of both. The suspect in the Hannah Collins case has been missing for weeks and if he is on the run, he could be using gyms to shower at.

LAPD has not been sharing information with the media in either the Hannah Collins case or the home invasion burglary/assault. Even for LA, the Hannah Collins and burglary/assault cases are weird. Why would you leave a body in your bedroom for your mom to find? Why would you break into a house and leave via the front door with salutations to the kid in the house? It makes me think this guy maybe suffering some sort of mental illness and is not thinking rationally all the time but has periods of clarity.

I'm wondering how the conversation went when she asked her son about the body under the bed.

He knew that she found it because he took off before police arrived. She had no choice but to call police when she found the body.

Was the mother away often and he was home? <modsnip - not victim friendly>

The cause of death will take 4 to 6 months to determine, so I assume manner of death was also not readily apparent. Could be a homicide, suicide, or accidental death, possibly an overdose.

Why would someone wrap her in plastic and just leave her in a room, unless said someone had some involvement in her death?

Not necessarily, but it is unusual that his mother did not know she was in the apartment.

She might have died accidentally and he might have panicked - afraid that he would be implicated. Hide the evidence?

We have no details on timeline but I can’t imagine the shock his Mother experienced in discovering the remains and also realizing her Son’s involvement. JMO Future info may call into question her actions but much respect for her calling LE. MOO

Why hide evidence if there has been no crime?
We see that frequently in cases of overdose. Not saying any drugs at all were involved here but that is one scenario where the cause of death can take time to determine. If there was a gunshot wound, LE has to rule out if it was self-inflicted. In any event, we don't have all the info needed here to understand LE's approach. I do hope they explain more to her mom though, she must be devastated. And I hope if this person is considered a threat that they ramp up efforts to track him down!!
