Hans Lamaack was last seen in Fresno on August 30th.

The case turned up no leads until the weekend of September 20-21. On that weekend, a bicyclist was riding in a remote area of Trimmer Springs Road and spotted a Volvo parked along the upper Kings River near Balch Camp. Search teams arrived to the area and started to search of Lamaack. Fresno Police were able to match a the Volvo to a missing person case.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to contact us if they have any information about seeing Lamaack or his vehicle between August 30th and September 24th.

Lamaack is described as being 6’1”, 165 lbs. with brown eyes and gray hair.

A post with more information from the LE agency that actually located Hans' vehicle, and whose Search and Rescue unit has been looking for Hans:

FSO Search and Rescue Team Looking for Man Missing One Month

Deputies and volunteers with the Fresno County Search and Rescue (SAR) Team are searching the wilderness for 65 year old Hans Lamaack.

He was last seen in the City of Fresno on August 30, 2019. The Sheriff’s Office was made aware that he was missing on September 24th. On the 24th, deputies found Lamaack’s car, a 2001 Volvo. It was parked near Garnet Dike Campground, which is located along the upper Kings River near Balch Camp. Search teams are actively looking in this area for any sign of Lamaack.

At the end of August, family members reported Lamaack missing to the Fresno Police Department. No leads were generated until the weekend of September 20 -21. On those dates, a bicyclist riding in a remote area of Trimmer Springs Road saw a Volvo parked with no one around. The cyclist thought it seemed out of place and took down the license plate number. He later reported it to law enforcement. Fresno Police discovered it matched a vehicle in its missing person case. Fresno Police then asked the Sheriff’s Office to check the area for the car, which deputies later found.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to contact us if they have any information about seeing Lamaack or his vehicle between August 30th and September 24th. Please call (559) 600-3111. Lamaack is described as being 6’1”, 165 lbs. with brown eyes and gray hair. It is possible he was in this area near the Kings River as early as Labor Day weekend, August 31 – September 2.

Funny that on the Help us Find Hans Lamaack page the findings of their PI is not mentioned (that I can see, although I can’t seem to view any comments there, if there is any) but from this one article from YourCentralValley it seems he discovered quite a bit:
  • HL had recently cashed out a small 401k worth around $5,000
  • He recently renewed his passport
  • There’s indication he was looking at his retirement money
  • Some Miller Lite beer cans (which is Hans’ preferred brand) were found by the car
  • A can or two of another brand of beer was also found by the car
  • He and his wife were not on the best of terms
Based on those findings, it may be a voluntary missing case? But, wouldn’t his passport usage be able to be traced?
