I have the impression it was suicide... although I've been looking into it and Ventura is more than 5 hours from the Golden Gate Bridge... logically, it's not the only place to commit suicide... otherwise, I imagine he might have fallen somewhere like a quarry or succumbed to the elements in a forest...
