Inmate No. 06581138Z: What Awaits Harvey Weinstein Behind Bars
Yes, he’s going to Rikers, but he’ll be at a medical unit where he will have a television and possibly a private pay phone, too.

Snipped.

If because he is a celebrity he needs to be in special protection room, so be it. It's still prison. If he were in general population, they have TVs and pay phones too - it's not as if those items are special. He will still be behind bars in the middle of the East River, and Rikers isn't a cushy prison.

From the link, bbm

"The city correction department on Tuesday declined to say where Mr. Weinstein would be housed or why he was still being held at Bellevue."

He was convicted on Monday. It's now Wednesday morning and he is still at Bellevue rather than prison. He went Bellevue for chest pains but was well enough on Tuesday to have visitors.

Rikers is not a long ride away and Rikers has an infirmary - WHY hasn't he been moved there by now? That stinks!!

If "he's in good shape," according to his lawyer, get him the heck to Rikers prison, just like anyone else who had been convicted in this court. He is a common criminal now - he is supposed to be in prison.

Infuriating.

"Nearly 48 hours later, Weinstein is still at Bellevue 'hangin’ in there,' according to his lawyer Arthur Aidala. 'He’s got his own room” and is not in handcuffs. No update on his condition, or why he still hasn’t been transferred, but Aidala noted 'he’s in good shape.'"

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is having a tough time acclimating to life as a convicted rapist, battling insomnia and being reduced to scarfing down bologna sandwiches, according to a source and Weinstein allies.

Its not like ol’ Harvey has ever had to pop a Tuna Kit from the Dollar Tree for lunch...
I hope he’s in a nose dive spiral right in to his Karma. JMO
He doesn't like being confined, having things on his mind, and eating crappy food? Well, neither do all the other criminals who are sent to prison.

You're no different, Harvey.....except you're not in the actual hell-hole of a prison where you're supposed to be.

Gotta say, maybe having a rapist Father in jail is better for his young daughters, than having him at home.

I hope that he has zero access to a phone, no visitors but his one attorney, same as it would be at Rikers. And why, are tax payers paying for him to have private guards? He could get the same care at the infirmary at Rikers, like every other criminal does.

I bet HW is trying to stay in Bellevue until he’s back in court...
2 more weeks.
And then of course right after that, in his elitist unicorn world...
his bail appeal will be granted and POOF ...he’s back home.

Well, to be fair, Bellevue Hospital has a ward for prisoners so there would be a staff of guards who work that job, not special for Weinstein. I don't think he has "private guards."

However, he's not so sick that he can't be at the infirmary on Rikers prison. He doesn't need to be at Bellevue....but there he is.

And it sounds like he is not handcuffed, which I assume prisoners usually are when in the hospital. I recall reading about a woman prisoner who gave birth while handcuffed to the bed! (What, was she going to escape during labor?!)

So infuriating.

I agree he will try to stay at Bellevue until March 11 - which is an insanely long time to be in a hospital if he's not actually being treated for anything! Then, he'll go to sentencing hearing - and then be whisked to L.A. where perhaps the jail conditions are nicer than Rikers??

He can't go back home because he was convicted here in NYC. He will be required to serve whatever sentence he gets on Mar 11. When he returns to NY for his sentence, I read he will be in an upstate jail for the remainder of his sentence, not Rikers.

I think he is doing whatever he can to avoid going to Rikers between now and Mar 11 It is a hellhole.

If he’s telling his legal team to go back & look at an accusers press conf statement? eating a baloney sandwich & pacing the floor? ...he’s not in any cardiac distress!!!
I cannot believe he’s getting away with delaying going to Rikers!
So transparent!!!

I know! Where is the judge on this? Can't the judge say "enough is enough" and send the convicted criminal to prison??

I read that he had a private room, with a guard outside.

He needs to go to jail. The privilege here reeks.

https://pagesix.com/2020/02/27/heres-how-harvey-weinstein-is-avoiding-rikers-island-food/

Weinstein attorney Arthur Aidala said the disgraced producer, 67, dines on the same hot meals other patients get.
“I was sitting there when they delivered food and took the cover off. It looked like meatloaf, mashed potatoes, spinach, coffee and dessert,” said Aidala, who visited Weinstein at the hospital on Tuesday. ”It smelled pretty good.”

—It’s like Arthur Aidala enjoys telling the press this...almost like flipping off the judicial system, victims and jurors. I’m waiting for the outcry!

From your article, Weinstein was convicted of rape. He is not eligible for bail by New York code, and his victim would also have a say in this.

He is going to be dragged into Rikers, or take an Epstein out.

"One of the jurors who found Harvey Weinstein guilty has gotten frightening threats after speaking out about the bombshell verdict, forcing her into hiding, her sister told The Post...

On Tuesday, the juror told “Inside Edition” she hopes the guilty verdict gives victims closure. She also described being disgusted by seeing naked photos of Weinstein that were entered into evidence."

https://pagesix.com/2020/02/27/weinstein-juror-in-hiding-after-getting-threats-sister-says/

I'm not a big fan of jurors giving interviews - I think their role is to reach a verdict and that's it. The deliberation is private process for a reason, imo.

But it is completely unacceptable to threaten anyone. To threaten a juror has horrible consequences - can make jurors on a future case afraid to reach a verdict that will cause people anger.

Bad form all around.

Oh, and Weinstein was convicted on Monday an as of now, Thursday night, he's still in a hospital feeling pretty good rather than behind bars where convicts are supposed to be.
