CA - Hasanni Campbell, 5, Oakland, 10 Aug 2009 - #2

I have a thought I cannot shake. Perhaps a beating got out of control, and poor Hasanni was feeling cold from the effects/shock of that, so was put in a sweatsuit - a lot of these stories show that parents think the child will bounce back from beatings, and they really didn't mean for the child to die from it. Perhaps by putting him in a sweatsuit, LR, now calmed down from his rage, was going for the "it'll be alright, just rest" angle. But, then, when the child died, he was forced to describe the clothing correctly, knowing the body would eventually be found, and hoping that the beating would be pinned on an unknown kidnapper.

This is wholly conjecture on my part, though.

I don't think this is too far off at all. Often closed head injuries aren't detected but will result in death. And yes, describing the correct outfit he was wearing just in case the body was found and blame it on the abductor. MOO

With the release of all this new and thoroughly disturbing information, it is now VERY clear in my mind why Child Protective Services (or whatever it is called in California) stated that they will NOT be returning Aaliyah and/or Hasanni to Ross and Campbell.

These are just horrific conditions to which any child of any age should never be subjected.

God bless little Aaliyah--it appears you have been saved from an almost certain ugly and abusive childhood. I pray that you will grow up playing princess, chasing butterflies, laughing, dancing and enjoying your little girl life. I pray that you will forever forward only know peace, kindness, gentleness, security, warmth, and love.

I will pray for guidance to all of the law enforcement officers and volunteers who are searching for little Hasanni. May they be led quickly to his whereabouts.

If this adorable little child has been harmed, I pray that justice against the perpetrator is swift, strong, severe, and long-lasting.

Any person who harms a child is not worthy of breathing the same air from our planet and should be immediately extinguished from our lives.

Yes, a closed head wound was exactly what I was thinking, as it often presents as a flu-like illness, with temperature fluctuations. Perhaps the sweatsuit was a too-little-too-late attempt at making Hasanni comfortable.

Any way you look at it... poor little guy.

This little girl, it seems, has been deprived of a brother - one of the closet relationships we know in life. That is very sad.

I just hope she didn't see anything. Having a toddler myself, I have a strong feeling that - though they might not talk much (in English), or even have clear memories - they are heavily aware of the "vibe" going around, and I hope she doesn't have that evil at the back of her memory.

I wish her nothing but good for the rest of her life, as she's already had enough of the bad.

LR obviously did not care one whit about these kids. Therefore, JC, by association, did not care enough about them. She knew, if she didn't know, she suspected, and if she didn't suspect, she's been under a rock.

I know, I know, battered womens syndrome, psychological abuse, blah de blah. Leave anyway.

What is pulling at my heart right now is that I know, deep down, I feel that Hassani was probably subjected to some of the some of the worst verbal and psychological abuse, never mind what he might have endured physically. You can't feel the way that LR feels about Hassani (as evidenced by the text) and not treat them horribly. This poor little boy knew that his father didn't want him, his mother couldn't keep him, and his uncle didn't want him. I wonder if he ever even had a real hug in his life, or just the showy ones done in front of social workers.

Hassani, whatever the outcome, wherever you are, may you at last be loved and at peace.

I am not known for cutting the bystander parent any slack (I think they should be charged with the same crime) and I feel no differently about this case.

Hasanni was a fosterchild. Jennifer stepped in and said let me bring him into my violent home. If she had a lick of common sense or actually truly cared about his well being she would have said hers was not a suitable home for a disabled child, or gotten her sh*t together and tried to adopt him then.

I am of the feeling that the witnesses at the junkyard are mistaken. The text and the neighbors statement that he hasn't been around in a couple of weeks make me think it happened soon. OH- this occured to me while I was typing:

August 10th LR beats Hassani severely.
We know he was at his wits end.
Hassani needs medical care but they don't take him because clearly he has been beaten.
Neighbor doesn't see Hassani for two weeks because he is too injured to be out and about.
The day of the disappearance Hassani is crying in the car because he is injured and needs medical intervention.
LR kills him and disposes of the body.

I hope LE is keeping a close eye on him. My guess is that since all of this information is mysteriously being 'leaked' all of a sudden, he'll skip next. We know he has a history of doing that.

I just wonder if there's a grand jury proceeding going on. We were already surprised earlier this week in Robert Manwill's case and even though Hasanni hasn't been found yet, a lot of circumstantial evidence seems to be coming out in regard to LR. Otherwise, I'm a little surprised at the revelations being put in the media. MOO

The warrant says Ross told police he had left Hasanni and the daughter home alone on a previous occasion while he went to the bank to conduct a transaction.

ETA: The affidavit says neighbors told Fremont police they hadn't seen Hasanni for at least two weeks before the child was reported missing. :shakehead:

Yes. I had to leave my baby with my MIL one day to run up to the bank, and I still felt mean - he was still very little then, and that was the first time I had ever left him with someone else. I can't imagine leaving kids alone in a house like that.

Perhaps that's what happened, and why the sword was important. We all remember our parents having things we were itching to get our hands on but weren't allowed to play with. Perhaps the sword was fascinating for Hasanni, dad stepped out, and the child grabbed his chance to get into the forbidden things. (If the sword was for use for immediate emergency house protection, I doubt it was pushed way in under the mattress, but was likely in general arms-reach.) Perhaps the dad came back, found out what had happened, and, fearing the reprecussions (like losing his own expected child), he concocted a story in which he wasn't that responsible.

Again, pure speculation... guys, let me know if this gets annoying, as I know throwing things out there with no links or proof kind of wastes space on here. :iamashamed0005:

Don't know if you seen the new articles I posted, but LR sent an angry text to JC on July 31st.......

....to leave the child alone at a BART platform just 10 days before Hasanni Campbell vanished, according to court documents released today. :furious:

"This is f- over, I will watch her but he will be out on the BART and its your responsibility to hey (sic) him so f - you," Ross texted at 9:50 a.m., police said. The references appear to be to Hasanni and his 1-year-old sister. :furious:

I drove by his block today on my way home and saw four news vans there at 2:30. I assume they are setting up for the 5 o'clock news but it seems early.

Someone mentioned Quarry Lakes. They are about 10-15 minutes away depending on traffic. There are fishermen here and there. There is also a paid beach. I never took the kids there because it seemed too dangerous and isolated for me. I still can't work out why the police are the most focused on Coyote Hills and the marshes towards Hayward and not to the left of the park at Don Edwards which has the pier into the ocean. Police must have a reason. I was at Coyote Hills on Tuesday but did not see any activity. I will say that least half of the ponds are already dried up. If you park in the upper parking lot you can take a wooden path over the marsh which stretches quite far out. Ross would have had to carry a large backpack to avoid notice. A gymbag would be really out of place. Everything else but the marsh is hard dirt. There are patches of larger scrubby bushes/trees. I believe in some spots you could see where searchers had made a path among the reeds. You would have to hike a long long way uphill to reach the bay from Coyote Hills.

A sword for protection? I will say that Ardenwood had a big crime spree of burglaries for about a year. Hampton Place got their own security company to make passes through the neighborhood and their crime went down. The neighborhood had one burglary with the front door kicked in this year. I saw on crimereports.com that there was a drugbust on the corner of Roxie Terrace and Tupelo on March 19.

This is so strange...he says "HER" baby? Maybe he isn't the father? Does he just stick around so he has a place to live? If left to his own devices he would probably be homeless.
I think you are right. I bet he hates Hasanni because having CP is a weakness, in his eyes, and he can't stand that. That is why he sounded so militant about how much Hasanni had improved while under their "care" (ugh, what care?).
