Dosen't this complaint remind us all of the Anthony's reaction after thier house was searched??? LE is not expected to clean up after searching anyone's home...they have a search warrant & are NOT required to put everything back in place after executing a search warrant. :banghead: Thier main goal is to find a missing person not being maids after a warrant!

She said that when she returned to her house Monday after being released from jail, every room was a mess from a police search conducted Friday after the couple's arrest. A couch was flipped over, things were pulled out of dressers and cupboards, Hasanni's clothing was out of the closet and some of her paperwork was missing. "Everything is everywhere," she said. "They went through every single room."

From the same article

"Thomason said the Oakland police investigation has not included searches in Monterey, where Ross lived until about nine months ago according to a former housemate."

WTF?? Then unless Jennifer was living in Monterey until nine months ago, and driving 88 miles a day, ONE WAY, to get to work, then she was NOT living with him prior to getting these children!!!

Most of his more worrisome things were NOT in California.

Also, FBI database may only have real biggies in it. Keep in mind a restraining order for DV is not the same as an arrest, too. It still displays a pattern of abusive behavior but it may not be a technical findable "red flag".

I'm guessing that CPS, overloaded as it is, runs a basic few checks and moves on with the process, instead of really putting together a character sketch.

Yep, the FBI background check is a fingerprint check. It will find any charges in all states, but only if the person has been fingerprinted.

Ross described his four days in jail as "hell."

He said investigators tried to deceive him on Friday afternoon, shortly after they arrested his fiance at the Union City BART station without Ross's knowledge. Ross said the police started texting him messages posing as Jennifer.

"Her text messages didn't make sense," said Ross. "I find out she wasn't texting me. They had her in custody. They [police] had her cell phone ... basically coercing me to come out come get her at the BART."

Ross said police then ordered him to come out of his Fremont home. He said when he came out, "about four or five police officers with automatic weapons pointed at me. [They said] 'Walk back up...kneel down'."

It's all about Ross and his indignation. What about Hasanni?

Yeah, I've still yet to hear either one of them mention his birthday. I wonder if they even know when it is?!?

Oakland Acting Police Chief Howard Jordan said Tuesday that the foster parents of missing 5-year-old boy Hasanni Campbell are still the main suspects in the case even though prosecutors say there's not enough evidence to charge them at this time.

In a one-minute statement to reporters, Jordan said, "We're asking for the public's help to solve this case and potentially re-arrest Mr. Louis Ross and Jennifer Campbell."

...........

Oakland attorney John Burris, who has consulted with Ross and Campbell, said Tuesday that, "I hope the attention now turns to trying to find Hasanni and the people who possibly kidnapped him."

He said that because Hasanni's body hasn't been found, "The district attorney was placed in a position where kids do turn up and are found and there's no proof yet that Hasanni is dead."

I think LE needs to put a "mole' on the forum or SOMETHING! If they don't tell us anything, how are people supposed to know where to look, what time frame or what to look FOR?!?!

ETA: wishful thinking, I know

Personally, I'd be glad they didn't pick up after themselves after searching my home - I'd want to know exactly where they looked and what they saw, even if that was simply everything. If it was neat as a pin, I would be paranoid.

If Hasanni were my son, I wouldn't be able to stop pleading with people to bring him home for his birthday.

Missing boy's foster parents lash out at cops

Outside jail on Tuesday evening, Ross told reporters that he was angry at the couple's treatment by police.

"See, I trusted their work, but they've shown through their actions their work cannot be trusted," Ross said. "They've shown through their actions they have an agenda."

Ross said he has repeated his account of what he did before Hasanni disappeared. "They got the same story, but they were not happy with the story that they got," he said. "They wanted something else."

Campbell agreed, saying, "I don't know what type of evidence they plan to come up with or what they plan to do, and I'll leave their investigation alone. I know I'm innocent, and I know Louis is innocent."

Louis Ross calls police investigation "irrelevant" after release from jail

Louis Ross, foster father of Hasanni Campbell, described jail as "hell" and refused to answer questions about the police investigation into the boy's disappearance after he was released from jail tonight

.....

Hasanni's 1-year-old sister was taken into protective custody after the boy's disappearance. Campbell went to court today and learned that her parental rights are being severed and that the girl will be put up for adoption. "I basically will never see her again," Campbell said tonight while awaiting Ross' release from jail

....

Campbell said police have told her that they have evidence that the couple is implicated in this crime but that they will not say what it is.

"I don't know what type of evidence they plan to come up with," she said. "I know I am innocent, and I know Louis is innocent."

Campbell said she last saw Hasanni around 7 a.m. Aug. 10 while the boy was still sleeping. She said she kissed him goodbye and went to work. "It's been a living a nightmare ever since," she said.

.....

Thomason said the Oakland police investigation has not included searches in Monterey, where Ross lived until about nine months ago according to a former housemate.
"There are probably only two people who know where Hasanni is, and those are our suspects," Thomason said.

Burris said he has lined up criminal lawyers to defend the foster parents should charges be filed in the future.

....

There will be a search Saturday at Fremont's Lake Elizabeth at 40000 Paseo Padre Parkway. Volunteers may meet at the main entrance at 9 a.m. Experienced divers are needed to help out. For more information, e-mail [email protected] or call 510-276-9090.

From the article posted above...

"....but they've shown through their actions their work cannot be trusted," Ross said. "They've shown through their actions they have an agenda."

Was this early damage control for any evidence that LE uncovers?

JC and Ross are the true victims here. How could we have possibly thought it was Hasanni?

BTW This was a great chance for media coverage, did anyone mention Hasanni? Plea for his safe return? Ask for anyone with information to come forward? Just wondering.

Good morning Shutterfly: Unbelievable isn't it? Not far from Monterey is Big Sur, one of the most beautiful spots I've ever been to. I tried searching Monterey County for Lewis W. Ross - except for the parking ticket, he must have been a pretty good boy...couldn't find anything.

ITA with everyone: Everything I've read & watched LR & JC seem to be more concerened with what they have gone through....all the turmoil, being questioned & handcuffed...nothing about pleading for a kidnapper to please return Hasanni. :furious:

All the while Hasanni is still somewhere out there....it's been too many days....the longer it is the more upset I am about Hasanni not being found yet! And from what LE has said, I truly believe they have video from camera's in the area, that show Hasanni was never in the car in Oakland that day.

It's just the DA needs more to go on than grainy videos....where a lawyer could say....well he took his seatbelt off & was on the floor of the car or something like that. They need more solid evidence to charge them...IMO

You're all right no mention of PLEASE bring Hasanni back in time for his birthday....Nothing like Kristi Cornwell
case where the very next day, both her mother & her boyfriend, were all over the news media begging for the kidnappers to let her go. :shakehead:

They both in my opinion are still the ones I suspect the most & the the only ones at this point & time. If I'm wrong I'll eat my words...I promise you all & even LR & JC I'll apologize from the bottom of my heart.

Hasanni :sponge: is waiting for you to be found....send some messages to someone near you to walk towards you PLEASE little guy....try your hardest honey.

Wondering.......Worried........Where is Our Little Handsome Guy????

Hasanni Never Made it to Oakland: Police

Ross insists that someone took the boy because his physical condition prevents him from running.

"We know for a fact that Hasanni Campbell never made it to Oakland Aug. 10th at as was previously reported." Oakland Poilce spokesman Jeff Thomason said.

....

"I gave them receipts, cards, bank statements. I gave them times I was there." Ross said. "I gave them everything."

The couple believes they are the targets of a witch hunt.

Does anyone know off the top of your head whether or not the park they searched near Rockridge was Robert Sibley something or other? I see it referenced only as "Robert's Park" and I'm just too lazy to go look at the moment.

  • #220
Yes, IIRC, he went to his car to get his phone, and called from the alley.

They haven't released that 911 call, have they? Hmmmm
