Just from some quick googling around, it seems a small black stone could be anything from something sentimental picked up on her travels, to a gemstone used to help her sleep or provide calming or protection, to something along the lines of the Kabaa, which I am unfamiliar with, but seems it is a stone thought to be back from the days of Adam and Eve that Muslim's will visit to cleanse their sins..(if I am getting the basic idea of that). I am not sure if folks would carry a small version of that for cleansing or not. (Sorry if I have that one totally wrong).

Then there is the casting of the black stone that would mean some sort of condemnation in some circles.

I know it was after her death, but I saw many references to the movie "Knowing" which I have not seen, but apparently has references to black stones that are left up to interpretation but might represent and invitation of sorts ?

That was all I could find on possible deeper meanings on the stone.

As was mentioned earlier, a general hair ring dates back to the victorian era and was usually used as a mourning ring.

Not much to really narrow anything down, but it is pretty interesting what she decided to keep with her.

Just my opinions, and non-expert ideas on her possessions...

Here is a very rough idea of what I THINK her clothing may have looked like.

Her dress could also have been ankle length, I'm afraid. I am pretty sure it would have been a sleeveless pinafore style though, unless it was cold at that time of year in CA? Then maybe she would have worn a T-shirt under a long-sleeved dress?

I agree this probably had some deeper meaning for her. A friend on mine gave me a purse full of such stones once - every one had a different whatever it is they were supposed to possess. My friend brought hers in a little shop, but I don't know what to term it; a mix between herbal remedies, crystals, windchimes, stones etc? What kind of store would that be?

No, I have not seen any photos of her clothing or jewelry. I was having a tough time envisioning how a black dress, red long-sleeved tee-shirt and pink sweater would look. I was asking myself - was the tee-shirt over or under the dress?

I dunno.

Considering it was 1990, would they have said if it was a corduroy dress?

Here's what pops up in my head:

With a normal red long sleeve t-shirt under it and then something like

Although it could be more like the picture I am attaching

Her Nam Us link doesn't even have the clothing listed. Are we able to "complain" about things like this?

Is there anyone that's in contact with someone working her case? If so maybe we can get some clothing; ring & key photos?

Clothing:

black cotton dress;

a red, long-sleeved shirt;

fishnet stockings;

a pink sweater;

a size 40 D bra; and pink shoes, with the price tags still on.

A ring made of human hair was located on her left ring finger. She carried a smooth black stone, and a motel key inscribed with No. 218. She carried no identification and no credit cards.

I first MET Andrea sometime in the year 1986-87. I was in Seattle before that time but had never met her until then. I think it was spring of 1986 perhaps. I remember that because when I met Andrea for the first time at City Beat, she had a Camellia in her hair that she had picked off a Camellia shrub outside of City Beat. I remember it was so very red against her jet black, big ratted out hair and pale skin. She must have been ( and this is only a guess! ) around the same age or maybe even a little younger than myself. I was born in Feb of 1967. That should nail it down a bit better for everyone. After that night, we would see each other every time we went to City Beat which was every weekend pretty much.- MontanaMan

Curious if you have any pics from back then?
Also would you happen to have a pic of the hair jewelry?

She has a tattoo of a cross between thumb and index finger on one hand.

Yeah, I noticed that difference. I thought that since there was such little information on Theresa the information about her tattoo could be questionable. Between the thumb and index finger is a common place for kids to write on there own hands and do homemade temp tats. So maybe she did not have a permanent one. I just thought the physical resembalance was strong. Probably not a match though.

The nose is very close, but Theresa has a much stronger chin and jawline and broader temples.

We need to focus. We're close to almost identifying this person. I think they should possibly put this on the local news or states for any relatives.

The ring could be a family heirloom.

Huntington Beach, Ca Jane Doe
This unidentified young woman died around 10 pm on April 1, 1990 while crossing Pacific Coast Highway west of Newland, Huntington Beach, California. She died at the scene of a broken neck.

RSBM and BBM

Jumping from the idea of the stone, I was going to look to see if there were stores near where she stepped off. Going directly west from Newland, to the PC Highway is not commercial, I am new to maps, but looks like it is just nothing there except some residential near the north of the 2 block grid. It sounds like she bought the shoes at a goodwill after staying with the good sam and walked or hitched to the highway. ...Is that large blank area forest? or undeveloped? or what...anyone know? It is right EAST of Bolsa Bay. Sorry I cannot yet link to a google map

Second thought that was mentioned by a person who came forth to say he saw her was that they were hitching in the same car on the pacific highway. Now, I wonder if they were hitching SOUTH or NORTH. Did the man ever say down the highway or up the highway? Not that I have heard... I have a growing list of some good psychic/gemstone/bookstores on the highway both North and South if she stopped along the way.

Sure would be nice if we could plot a map...if we had the address where she stepped off, or the area of the good sam's house, or the goodwill. Maybe I will do some searching for Goodwill's in the area.... that is it for now :)

ETA: Most of that "west of Newland" IS just highway, but at the Northern area, there are some shops (not all residential)

The ring could be a family heirloom.

The man with whom she stayed a night said that she cut a piece of her own hair off in front of him and put the hair on her finger... So it is not really a real "ring", but a lock of hair made into a ring, if I am correct.

Moo, of course :)

I think it was reported that she made the ring herself from her own hair. The bracelet MontanaMan has is silver and, he thinks, old. That could be the family heirloom I think. There might be quite a few ways to trace it if it's as old as he thinks, because it's likely to be valuable, I would have thought.

ETA: Sorry Mrs Tigglesworth, didn't see you'd already answered this.
