I didn't know that, thanks Carl, learn something new every day.

I do understand the intent of the law and I'd rather you still be able to view the photo.

There are sites out there that contain gruesome photos from auto accidents, etc., that are displayed for no purpose other than ghoulish amusement. The family members of the victims have been traumatized by having a public spectacle made of their loved ones.

It's too bad that there is no way that people with a legitimate reason for seeing them would be able to see them without risk of them ending up on the "blood & guts" sites. I really don't think this photo of Andrea would be of much interest to these folks, as she looked quite peaceful in death. But nevertheless, the law exists (probably for that reason), and Orange County wishes to comply as best as they can.

Boy so many could be's! Yet obvious no matches. Since Carl saw the Post Mortum Pictures and Carl knows what he is doing I am pretty confident that if Andrea was Asian or African American he would have taken notice of that fact so it is a good bet that Rhonda Yocum and Patricia Obsborn are not Andrea. So fustrating! Things like eye coloring, height even scaring can be subjective but I think race is usually more concreate.

I saw the post-mortem photo before it was pulled and Carl is absolutely right -- there is nothing Asian or African-American or even Hispanic about her. His recon still looks too Hispanic to my eye :p

the original composite sketch screamed "Italian" to me. I'm having a hard time placing an ethnicity on the gal in Carl's image. that nose is not something you see every day.

Italian, possibly Jewish...yeah.

I don't see any ethnicity in Carl's drawing. One thing I have wished to see though is a version of it with more goth type make up on. Maybe this might help people from her past to recognize her?

New York or jersey portugese?

  • #467
I have a friend who is Brazilian Portuguese who looks a ridiculous amount like Carl's recon (except my friend has extremely fair skin, blue eyes and black hair).

I've seen quite a few Finnish people with short, turned up noses, though they tend to be pointier (think Bjork). I also recalled reading an article about very early attempts at plastic surgery to straighten the snub nose seen as 'typically' Irish.

Anyway, I went googling, and found this site full of anthropologists discussing the origin of noses. They've posted some good example pics and the discussion is quite informed - except the person who confused concave with its opposite, early on.

This case seems to be losing popularity on here.

Can you post at least up to the eyes of the real photo

I can't answer for Carl but I don't know what good seeing "Andrea's" eyes would do.

there are plenty of UIDs with actual photos on them and we still have a daunting task matching them especially when probably fewer that 10% of all missing persons files have been entered into Namus.

@sleuther, I think we've just exhausted a lot of the publicly available info. I know I'm still thinking out it, just trying to think of an avenue I haven't pursued yet.

Most of the reconstruction below the eyes is from the actual photo. The only difference is that I brightened and adjusted the color balance (less green, more cyan & magenta) of her skin, I raised the corners of her mouth to make her expression more neutral, and I did some minor emphasis on the shadows and light reflections.

I wonder what happened to her stuff? She had to have at least a bag or two of "stuff" - changes of clothes, a toothbrush, makeup. Maybe a few photos or other personal effects. I'm sure the family with whom she stayed was able to tell LE if she had a small suitcase or some bags with her.

I know this isn't really helpful - just something I wondered about after reading zwiebel's awesome earlier post with the compilation of articles.

Height, hair and eye color match. Nose is similar. She's at the upper age range for Andrea. The first link says dentals are available so I'm guessing she's probably been ruled out. Also, it looks like she may have a mole on her chin, but it may also be a blemish. The photo at the first link looks like she may have several blemishes on her chin.

(I did search and didn't see her listed, but many times a link is posted without a name, so she may have already been discussed.)

IMO; Too old. She was 21 when she went missing in 82. Andrea's max age is 24 in 1990.

How is it that there is no NamUs entry when the person is listed on Doe Network?

The title of the thread says 18-30. I must have missed something along the way.

NamUs- 20 to 24 year old White Female

I have the articles Zwiebel posted in my head; so I'm sure its me- *Taken from Zwiebel's news post- Everyone involved with her case repeatedly mentions her youth, how she was such ‘a young girl’. It does suggest that she was much nearer the bottom of her age range than the top, imo, though one article states she may have been ‘as young as 18’.

The thing that struck me with Justine, other than her nose, height, hair and eye color, and possible blemishes on her chin, is that she looked so much younger than her stated age of 21. To me, she looks about 15-16. Also, Carl's revision of her eyes on his recon look a lot like Justine's eyes.
