Ah, makes sense now. We say jumper for sweater in England, and I was presuming it meant the same thing.

And BTW, in the U.S. a boot is something you put your foot in, not where dead bodies are hidden. We call that a car-trunk. :)

and my favorite misunderstanding ... in the US, a "fanny" refers to the buttocks. LOL This made for some fantastic misunderstood conversations with a friend of mine in the UK. Still makes me laugh to think about it.

Yeah - If any of you yankees ever go to the U.K. never refer to your "fanny pack" as such. They will look at you like you're a low-class jerk. There, it's called a "bum-bag".

Y'all are giving me a much needed smile! :)

What do y'all think of this? I could not decide whether the chunky knit sweater would more likely be a cardigan or pullover, so I put it in her hand. I wore this exact style of "jumper/dress" in the 90's, so it is just what I imagine in my head... I also tried to keep the face pretty generic (I'm not very good at faces).

It's all coming back to me now. I had a shorter version of a dress like that in the 90s. They were called pinafore dresses round my way. And it's also got me wondering about what happened to the shocking pink sweater I had too, with detachable arms.

Does anyone with local knowledge think it's more of a Seattle look than a CA one, for this time? I'm still thinking of those Goodwill shoes as well, that RE the homeless man said Andrea bought for the ticket price on the shoe. It does seem like a lot of money for Goodwill shoes in 1990, and I can't work out how RE knew. Did he go to the goodwill store with her? Meet Andrea after she had bought them and she told him?

I thought she bought those things on the day she died, so that would mean she left the mobile salesman's home (was that near Pacific Highway?) before the stores closed, went to the Goodwill, met RE at some point, then went back to the beach, then the highway. Also, I know nothing about blood alcohol/cocaine levels. Is it possible she had taken them the morning of her death, rather than the night before? I don't really have the timeline straight in my mind, tbh.

Just to add my tuppence (two old English pennies) worth to the pot; lorries, motorways, mobiles, estates and 🤬🤬🤬🤬 are some of the best causes of misunderstandings. If you are a US, truck driving, highway traveller who carries a cell phone, smokes and lives in a mansion with grounds (English estate) or a very poor housing project (English estate/council estate), be prepared for confusion if you visit England!

Oh, and if you visit the north, you might well be offered ******s and mushy peas in a restaurant too. That'll get you. It gets all the city-slickers from London too.

See what I mean? The word got censored, and it's only what you call a meatball!

I just saw this missing girl in another thread here and she made me think of Andrea. Now the picture appears to be much younger than when this
girl disappeared. Sherry Young dissapeared from Florida. Now, I am absolutly not saying I think this is a credible source but the psychic quoted in one of the articles did
say Andrea was from Florida.

I'd say the eye shape and the chin and even the mouth are a possible match. But it's that nose again.

I think Andrea had a perfect baby's nose, which is why she looked so young. I've been looking at it again today, close up, without the rest of the face. Even on this toddler, the nose has dropped slightly and the nostrils are partially concealed. Andrea's seems so upturned and soft and sort of ....unformed?

I can't help thinking if you had that nose in the family, you'd recognise it straight away.

A short, upturned nose may be a symptom of fetal alcohol syndrome.

Thank you. I'm off to google that.

Nice work! Yes, that's pretty much how I was envisioning it, too. And almost certainly a cardigan.

Does it say the shoes had heels? I was thinking more along the lines of ballet flats. If she wasn't used to wearing heels, I wonder if she slipped trying to cross the highway.

My family doctor growing up was a right proper English gent who used to put us in stitches when he would use the UK version of the word "chin". When someone wasn't feeling well he'd say, "well keep your "chin" up". Of course this would illicit giggle fits from us kids. Only UK folk should get this. ; )

Arrrgh! This case is driving me bonkers! Isn't funny how certain cases just gnaw away at you. I feel as if we are all getting so close to something here...
These are my random thoughts, but I just can't draw anything from them. Can you?

The orthodontic and restorative chart shows Andrea's work was extensive, and unique enough to where her dentist/ortho would remember it. My dentist says she can tell you exactly who a patient is by looking at their xrays.

That outfit she bought at the 2nd hand store was her farewell outfit. The outfit was symbolic, if only of her favorite colors.

The police report said her teeth and hair were clean. Not something you would expect from a homeless woman, or a woman who had been living here and there. It said she was well nourished as well. Another opposing data point.

Where had Andrea learned of this mourning ring tradition? It was popular in the Victorian era, but very offbeat for 1990. The fact she cut off a piece of her hair, made the ring, put the rest of the hair in her pocket (what is that symbolic of?) and then stepped on to the highway reinforces it was premeditated. HOWEVER, why would she choose to take her life in a manner that could very well have killed the other parties in the cars? This isn't making sense to me.

I don't think this girl was homeless at all. Her physical status strongly suggested otherwise. I think she had a traumatic event that was so disturbing to her that she took her own life. She had either lost her loved ones, was abandoned or jilted. If there was widespread coverage of her death and no one stepped forward I tend to believe they didn't on purpose.

Finally, could she have been a high end escort of some sort? The detective used words as "quite beautiful", "well nourished", "large 40D breasts" etc. I don't mean any disrespect to the deceased or the detective, I'm just saying this might be an explanation? Perhaps she was working in Nevada or Beverly Hills and just felt used up?
That might explain why no one claimed her? The whole big busted thing makes me think that any "quite beautiful" 40D busted woman wouldn't be lacking of male attention or someone to pay for the caps on their teeth. Just sayin...

In one way or another this woman must have been thrown away and broken hearted. There have been many examples of women who have taken their own lives over heartbreak. Something strongly seems accurate about that guess in this case.

Sherry Young disappeared when she was 13. I don't know how all that expensive procelain would have gotten into her mouth if the UID is her.

That is such a sad looking little girl. I wonder why they posted such a young picture of her. That says something right there.
And last seen at a bar? At 13? Great....

I thought about that too. I think that Rosefromangels may be correct that Andrea was not simplay a homeless person living on the streets. Her physical condition tells a different story. If andrea worked as a high end escort or even had a well off older boyfriend that could account for the dental work if she is Sherry Young. I wish there was more information and a current photo of Sherry Young available.

Someone asked if this outfit was in fashion in LA at the time. I would say yes, but usually an outfit like this the young woman would be wearing Doc Martin boots (combat style boots) or maybe bright colored Converse sneakers with them. I was in school at the time and although this wasn't the common style of dress, one or two girls per class would dress like this.
This style is why I am not putting a lot of stock in the hair-ring. Girls that dressed like that in my classes often did little quirky things like that to seem cool. Perhaps it was just a sad coincidence.
