There was a little hardware store, the workbench, and a furniture or beds store on the other side of the Rasmussen farmhouse at that time. The hardware store burned down in the mid-late 90s. There is a plant nursery there now and the furniture store is now a brewery restaurant . Trying to find out if the bridge was there at that time.

If it's what I'm thinking of, can't remember the name of the hardware store, but it happened after 1996, because that's when we moved to the area. The nursery and brewery restaurant are still there. The bridge was there then afaik.

excellent. Good to know. IT was called the WORKBENCH ace hardware. couldnt remember when it burned down.

I was just watching a recent 20/20 program from about a month ago on the Polly Klaas case, and at Polly's memorial site in Cloverdale- where she was found, someone had left a rock for Ilene. That was touching.

Regarding 906 (#111), I think it's a coincidence. Especially the braces and the lump on the inside of her left ankle (I think it could have gone all the way to her toes and had those toes amputated if she was held captive). I think the height matches, but an inch difference isn't a big deal. Her hair could have been bleached to a reddish color (I think Ilene's hair in the photo is dark brown, but it could have bleached, especially in the sun). And I think if she was held captive, her clothes could have been swapped with Doe's. But that's just me. I really don't know if I should send it though. Still, given the desert conditions when preserving remains, I think Doe could have died more than 2.5 years ago (like in the 90s). And if Ilene had lived to Doe's age, she would have died around 1990-1997 (15-22 years old). What do you think?

So I don’t know if anyone mentioned this already, but Ilene’s father Michael passed away in 2024. I’ve included a link to the obituary. It’s so very sad that both of Ilene’s parents are now gone without knowing what happened. Now only her brothers remain to welcome her home if she is found still alive. I do wonder if Brian and Robert will now become the voices for Ilene?

Note that the obituary says that Michael is survived by his daughter Ilene! This man still had such faith that his only daughter was still alive even to the very end!

Is it possible with advancements in DNA that the backpack could be tested? This case is such a dead end on most fronts. I hope the family can put pressure on law enforcement.

At this point I wonder if LE has considered offering Michaud a plea deal to reduce her death sentence to life in prison if she can give up the location for Ilene? It would rule her and Daveggio out if she couldn't provide a location or still wouldn't admit to it to save her own skin. All of these years on Death row and the political climate about to change in California could entice her.

Then if she still claims innocence they can look in other directions. It's just a thought. Hopefully advancement in forensics can get some answers.

I can’t speak for @Leprikawn but I do know that James Daveggio had a girlfriend in the Dublin area at the time of Ilene’s 1989 abduction. This coupled with his horrific crimes have lead many of us to believe he is the true culprit behind Ilene’s abduction.

Michelle Michaud was not with Daveggio when Ilene vanished. When Jaycee Dugard was still missing, Daveggio and Michaud were suspects since an unidentified couple matching their descriptions kidnapped Jaycee ( we now know it was Phillip and Nancy Garriddo now). While investigating the link to Dugard, they found that Michaud and Daveggio were not together during the late 80s/early 90s.

Michelle Michaud would not have been in the picture when Ilene disappeared but since she and Daveggio were partners both in life and in crime… many suspect she’s aware of Daveggio’s past crimes and therefore would know what happened to Misheloff. She’s ultimately the only one who can clarify whether he was involved or not which is why many of us hope she opens her mouth and reveals other victims.

I also found this on Reddit from someone who lived in the area at the time. Daveggio lived with his mother and stepfather in Pleasanton, California in 1989 which is twelve minutes away from Dublin.

The poster believes she was almost another victim of Daveggio (she identified him as her attacker years after the fact). Here’s what the poster said about their experience and their suspicion about Daveggio’s involvement in Ilene’s disappearance.

This person was attacked by Daveggio in November 1988. They recall that Daveggio was on parole for kidnapping at the time which is why he was living with his mother. He moved to Sacramento shortly after Ilene’s disappearance.

“I believe James Daveggio did it alone. He did not know MM yet. He was living in Pleasanton with his mom and step dad while on parole for the kidnap and sexual assault of a Tracy woman. I grew up in Pleasanton. Less than three months before Ilene disappeared, while jogging on a Pleasanton Street, I was abducted, threatened with death, choked, and sexually assaulted. Though I was unable to identify him thru a photo at the time, I recognized him thru another photo years later. Statute had expired. And I know for a fact he was the only suspect the Police questioned and searched. Two years before my assault, Dana Ramm was abducted in Pleasanton literally one block from where I was taken. Her murder is still unsolved. She was murdered and dumped on a country road in Sunol, just as he eventually did to Vanessa Samson in 1997. She was dumped on the side of a country Highway towards Reno. Daveggio had a very specific and consistent pattern. He took females from outdoor locations to sexually assault mostly during late Fall and Winter months. He was likely impotent so he often used other methods to conduct the actual sexual assault. He let some live. He was convicted of killing one, but I believe he killed at least four. I think that the answer has been here all along. But for some bewildering reason, police and media insist on theorizing that Misheloff was taken by the same assailant that kidnapped other missing Bay Area girls, even though those girls were much younger. The police fail to seriously consider that Ilene’s disappearance could have been linked with at least two other known female outdoor abductions within a five mile distance to Dublin in 1989. Today is the 30 year anniversary of Ilene’s disappearance. I don’t know her or her family, but my heart goes out to them more than they will probably ever know.”

I do believe Michaud knows because that was how they got off, as disgusting as that is. I also believe Ilene may have been buried near other victims that have not been found. You don't just go from nothing to torture, rape, and killing.

Those two were pure evil and I bet there are many more victims that Daveggio had that haven’t yet been located.

I don’t really believe Ilene’s case is connected to the younger girls who went missing during the same time period. I believe Daveggio was in Dublin that day, spotted Ilene while she was walking home alone and abducted her. I just hope they someday have the decency to let their victims families all have some answers.

closer than that. the two cities touch. I-580 is the border. ... though I don't know where in Pleasanton daveggio lived and it might not have been right there.

this case hit close to home for me because I was close to her age and lived in Pleasanton at the time, in an area near Dublin. iirc, she was last seen a couple blocks from the Dublin 6 cinema, where I saw basically every movie I went to as a kid.

her flyers were everywhere. grownups talking about it nonstop, and keeping a closer eye on their kids.

it was the first time it really hit me that crime is real, evil people are out there, you really do have to be careful, and boy does this world need some work.
