http://www.abc-7.com/story/25584580/mother-persuaded-kidnapped-daughter-to-tell-police

Ok from the way this article sounds, the woman got in touch with her sister on facebook. Sis helped her get in touch with her mother. Mother had to prove to the woman that she had looked for her, that she hsd gone to LE. Garcia had told her the mother wasn't looking for her.

Garcia has allegedly talked with at least one neighbor about the mother causing trouble for him.

It looks like the woman has been in touch with her family since April.

The way I am reading this it took time for her to go to LE.

Very good article

ES was alone with the woman for weeks when the kidnapper was in jail. She also was at parties and libraries, restaurant and questioned by a police officer. She had opportunities to escape.

And what about Patty Hearst? What about Collen Stan?

I'm not saying it can't happen. IMO something is not right here. And no matter what the outcome I do believe he broke the law by living with her as young as she was. If it's true they were going to split up her mother was probably overjoyed. Hell hath no fury like 2 scorned women. I found the interview from a neighbor who knew this couple that Shepard Smith did this afternoon. I cannot link to it so I searched "Neighbor reacts to kidnapped California woman's claim" and the page from fox came up. If you go to the wesite to find it you have to sign up to view it. The neighbor said her mother actually was there for visits and she had pics up on facebook with her all before she went to the police

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, the lawyer of the accused is on AC360 now, and saying the victim seemed happy. They were married. The husband bought her a car. Neighbors testified to the fact that she was happy.

But how do we know that is really her mother?

The police and the DA know more then we do and more than the neighbors.

Also said, her family didn't care for her. Something's off on this story. Neighbors saw them kissing, saw them host parties. They said she was home alone a lot, and could have escaped, if she had wanted to.

But when was the visits with her mother and when were the pictures on FB? According to reports she has been in touch with family since April. So it is possible if he was confident of his control over her, with their marriage, that she is now of age..... that if she offered him reassurances that he may have "allowed" a visit from the mother.

If she escaped where would she go?

How would she care for her daughter? Feed her, shelter her?

Would "the Americans" take her daughter from her and give the child to Garcia?

Would "the Americans" arrest her? Would they send her back to Mexico?

If she escaped, would he find her like the last two times? If he found her again would he just beat her or would he kill her this time?

Kidnapped woman 'lived ordinary life'

"He was always watching, you know, when she was outside, he was looking through the window," said neighbour Maribel Garcia, who used to babysit the woman's baby. "She would just look at him up and then she would go right back in."

The woman told KABC-TV that her neighbours might believe Garcia was a good man because he provided for her.

"He worked hard for me and my daughter, and he bought everything I want. But I didn't want that," she said. "I need love from my family, not things."

I've met men like this, who thankfully haven't kidnapped a child to get what they want, but have targetted much younger, and/or vulnerable women -- bought them everything, but expected total control over their lives in return and god help them if they weren't the doting little woman ALL the time.

It's disgusting, and I can tell you I -know- that these woman often think they want to be with the man, until one day they wake up and it dawns on them they are literally prisoners - but the bars are mental, emotional, much harder to break through than physical ones.

It's a short step from there, from that state of mind, IMO, to a man doing something like this.

NO MATTER WHAT, he took a 15 yo from her family and had sex with her. Jail is too good for him IMO.

I'm going to watch this play out for a while and see what else comes out. As I said before it was wrong for him to be with a 15 yr old girl at his age and against the law. I'd also like to know more about what was going on with the mother and what her lifestyle was like 10 years ago. We can speculate all we want but I prefer facts. I've read one article where the woman said he was always watching her and more than a few where others say they saw nothing wrong and he worked up to 3 jobs to take care of her and the baby. Maybe they should give them both lie detector tests?

If you followed any stories of victims we know 100% were kidnapped, and recovered years later, you'd know that is not unusual.
They are seen in public, neighbors think they are fine, but that is not the accurate picture of what is going on.
So just because neighbors didn't think anything bad was going on doesn't prove much.

And what about Patty Hearst? What about Collen Stan?

Jaycee Dugard is another example. She even denied at first about who she was when police questioned her.
Shawn Hornbeck was out and about in public, without supervision, for years. He even denied he was Shawn Hornbeck when asked by some people.
And we know a 100% they were kidnapped as children and badly abused.

About the facebook photos of her Mother and sister. Those pics went up around Mother's Day. So timeline seems to be that she made contact with her sister on FB in April. Pics went up in May.

And there is at least one neighbor who noted a change in her after she made contact with her Mother. I would guess that after living with the belief that her Mother wasn't looking for her for 10 years then finding out that Mother was, she would have a lot to think about.

Note: defense attorneys statement now includes the fact that couples sometimes get "belligerent" during the separation process.

Now saying neighbors sensed there may have been some problems.

Has anyone found the news story from when she was originally kidnapped?

Possible??

A good find by zwiebel !

Very kind of Michelle to be supportive.
I was thinking more along the lines of 'Stockholm Syndrome'; and the fact that some people, esp. in their teens, are more easily manipulated than others.

Sometimes my links don't work. In which case I hope a mod will correct the error.... :blushing:

Yep. Worked the first time I clicked it, now it's gone . Maybe too many people were trying to access it ? Wish I'd copied and pasted. It was from the first time she went missing.

The "(then 15 yrs. old)unnamed female " in this thread.

So far, all I'm getting is "page not found" when I click on the link; it was there when zwiebel first posted the link.
