There is a good deal more information on this case. Apparently, he disappeared after a huge argument with his father, whom he lived with. His father refused to talk to the police, tried to prevent other family members from talking to them either. He removed all the pictures of his son and threw out all of his belongings.
His mother and aunt have a Facebook page posted. He was an excellent student. The case was to be featured on "America's Most Wanted" but his father asked the producers not to air it, so it was pulled.

Thank you for these details. Do you have any links with this information or other additional information?

Details of Disappearance

Jack disappeared from San Diego, California on December 5, 1996. He was last seen at his home in the 2200 block of Haniman Drive, where he lived with his biological father.

He was reportedly an excellent student at the time of his disappearance and wasn't having any problems at home. Although some reports classify him as a runaway, others stated he is missing under suspicious circumstances.

Jack may have remained in the local area after his disappearance. Few details are available in his case.

"Jason" is not forgotten. Rooting for a break in his case. In my opinion his case wasn't investigated well enough back when he disappeared.

Can anyone find any articles in MSM in which his relative(s) are interviewed?

Can anyone submit his case to Doe Network?

Now why would a 15-year-old who was doing well at school, supposedly wasn't experiencing problems at home, and who presumably wasn't involved with drugs or "the wrong crowd," leave of his own accord?

Why would you jump through hoops to prevent anything that could help locate your missing son from happening? Why would you try to destroy his belongings and photos of him?

Before I got to the bottom I thought either his dad murdered him for being gay or he ran away because his dad found out he was gay. Then finding the suspected DV and his being career marine, hmmmm.

Wow! What a strange case. I wish his brother would start talking. I also wonder what private school Jack attended? Would any of his friends be willing to speak out now?

As far as the "gay theory", it seems plausible, but the evidence sounds pretty weak. Basically, the aunt is saying, "He was really thoughtful and caring, so I think he was probably gay."

I just read the article but didn't listen to audio.

I mean this in the most respectful way possible: what evidence do they have for Jack being gay other than the fact he was affectionate and loving? Because, well, that's not very strong evidence...

The dad has a history of abuse and violence towards another child and his ex-wife. A naturally violent, abusive person does not need a significant reason to lash out and harm others. The case could be as simple as the dad getting mad at Jack for something simple - like spilling a soda on the carpet - and beating him too hard for the final time. Then dad somehow thinks erasing all evidence Jack existed means he didn't do anything wrong.

Maybe they don't want to accept what happened is really that "simple." Now what I find really hard to accept is why the John Walsh show bowed down to the dad...
According to Dawna Holland, Jack’s brother has, at points, expressed a desire to tell people what happened the day Jack disappeared. He has knowledge. And yet he will not speak of his brother — not now, not to family, not to anyone.
If this is true then I can't help but be incredibly frustrated at this. It's been 30 years...

MOO.
