Her family last received messages
from her phone on Oct. 6, the sheriff’s office said.
During an interview with deputies, the acquaintance said that he last saw Cary in California near the end of August or beginning of September. They were sleeping in his car at a McDonald’s parking lot near Santa Monica.
The sheriff’s office says the McDonald’s was probably one at 13770 Van Nuys Blvd., in Pacoima, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, Calif.
“When they woke up, Jackie was mad. Jackie got out of his car and was throwing things at him, so he drove away. A short while later, Jackie sent him a message to come back and get her,” the sheriff’s office said.
According to the acquaintance, when he returned, she was gone and he was unable to find her, so he returned to Port Angeles. He added that he got messages from her phone during the beginning of September, but nothing since.
