When Jean Gregoire was on her deathbed, one of the last requests she asked of her son was to never forget his sister, Janet Kovacich, and her children.
...

And they died never seeing their daughter’s killer made to answer for his crime.

Paul Kovacich's guilt is being questioned - the prosecution's main argument was no one else could have done it, only a trained police officer could have pulled it off.

There was an uncaught serial killer/ex-police officer that had worked in Auburn and had much familiarity with Paul Kovacich and the area: Joseph James Deangelo, the Golden State KIller.

Here's a link a another page that gives a close examination of the skull that the jury heard "might have been" Janet's and "might have had" a bullet wound in it. I'm waiting for 2025 DNA technology to extract DNA from the skull for a comparison to the Kovacich children - that's what I'd like to see in this case.
