CA CA - Jeff Joseph, 45, Hoopa, 21 June 2014

Peaceofmind-

Do you or those investigating Jeff's case think that there is anyone in Louisiana that should be looked at?

I know Jeff went missing in CA and appears to have spent most of his time (?) there, but he was living in LA (not L.A.) at the time, correct?

I am just spitballing since things seem cold from a CA angle. No finger pointing or anything like that!

I am sorry for all you are enduring. Just from the photos I have seen, I think I would have liked Jeff very much. <3

Hi Elliebee

yes. for sure there are people in Louisiana that need to be talked to.. The whole frustration with this case is that the ones from Louisiana , left two days after jeff was due to arrive. That is fishy in itself. They lived and worked on his property!!!! They left or at least one did months before he was due to leave.. it's very frustrating that this has not been done. Jeff was a great guy.. there are videos of him on you tube if you type in "Jeff joseph organica" you can see a quick little 2 min sit down interview with him. Or if you put in the search on youtube "jeff joseph LA city council" Everyone loved jeff... well.... guess not.....

It's time people were talked to and held accountable. I realize that evidence or anything like that at this point, is long gone but, questions need to be asked of the people that were at the places he was expected... i'm supposed to believe he didn't make it when he had a lot of money and a crop worth alot of money... no.... i don't believe that. isn't it normal protocol to ? the people that were supposed to have last seen the person??

I live in Mendocino County, the next county south of Humboldt. As another Emerald Triangle county, our love drug situation is more of the same. Sheriff's Office here has calculated 40% of Mendo murders are related to commercial marijuana plantations. And to just to clarify things for the uninformed--the limit for medical marijuana is 25 plants. Recently, a plantation of 56,000 plants was raided here. Do you really think about 2,500 sick folks banded together and asked for this plantation? At a measly $1,000 profit per plant...you do the math.

The result is an influx of greedy people from all over. LE in this county has busted growers from Bulgaria, the Ukraine, and from all over the U.S. They have even found Mexican Indians who don't speak Spanish and don't know what country they are in. Humboldt is even worse; they have a large university as a magnet for the youthful and daring.

There is a request above for a map. Here's Weitchpec's location: https://www.google.com/maps/place/W...ebf91148d9328!8m2!3d41.1877221!4d-123.7039941

A ground view of the hamlet: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.187...o3-Ka9eeEM8Aq3ItJA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1

I am using the Tribal Office as an easily identifiable central point. You can turn this graphic via its spin arrows so you are facing down the road; then you can click your mouse on a chevron to "drive" along the road. Use the spin arrows to look about.

Hope this helps. If more locations are desired, let me know.

And here's an overhead view of the town: https://www.google.com/maps/place/W...ebf91148d9328!8m2!3d41.1877221!4d-123.7039941

Am I the only one who finds the presence of the Yurok Tribal Office intriguing?

Thanks for the maps and Emerald Triangle info. Help me out with the intriguing presence of the Yurok Tribal Office. :)
It's on the Rez, although there are more accessible locations like Klamath, where more tribal members live.

I'm curious where Jeff's land was....off of hiway 96, 169 or one of the roads before crossing the river. I "flew" over the area with Google Earth and spotted numerous grows of various sizes. I tried to upload a screenshot of one of the larger ones (several greenhouses), but I wasn't successful. I recommend taking your own tour to get a sense of the lay of the land.

In any case, it's very isolated, and dangerous for outsiders to explore. Large scale growers do not want visitors. I wonder if Jeff could have taken a wrong turn and ended up at the wrong property where he was not received hospitably. That could still explain the reluctance of his partners to cooperate. "Snitches get stitches." We weren't growers when we lived in Humboldt, but we were still in danger just minding our own business. It's much worse now, as burblestein described.

I hope I can make this explanation about the Yurok people without coming off as a racist.

Northern California Native Americans tend to have a well-founded hatred of us palefaces. I say well-founded because in the not to distant past, we Caucasians slaughtered over 90% of the Native Americans in Nor Cal. Add to that that Jeff Joseph was an "outsider" to Humboldt; this could add xenophobia to the mix. Thus there is the distinct possibility that Jeff fell prey to racial hatred.

However, I tend to believe greed was the determining factor in his disappearance. Consider the case of Jeffrey Settler: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...nville-pot-farm-11-Nov-2016&highlight=Settler. His accused assailants killed him for 100 pounds of pot to be split 7 ways--say, $1,000,000 divided by 7. And his assailants were "outsiders", who scattered after Settler's death.

As Lilibet noted, the exact location of Jeff Joseph's plantation would be helpful for solving this case. Here's hoping LE has that info. With pot now legalized in Cal, here's hoping this sort of info is more forthcoming in all marijuana-related murders.

Given the amount of money involved, I wonder if LE has run forensic financial audits on any suspects.

No and I wish they would.... how do you do that if they are mostly using cash..... I know one of the friends has since bought a home.......that is crazy if you knew this kids situation.

I also have maps but do not know how to post them. I'm working on it. that Bald hills rd, is, from what I've been told, also bloody camp road... which is where his phone last pinged. Awfully close to his property in weitchipec...

When I posted my overhead view of Weitchpec, I was under the impression it lay just outside the Hoopa Reservation boundaries. This map should correct that notion:

I have maps of the property and roads, towers he hit etc. I just have not figured out how to post them here.... bear with me...

Using an address supplied by Peaceofmind in a PM, I came up with this 3D overhead view of Jeff's property,

https://www.google.com/maps/place/1...95bdbce4c82ed6b!8m2!3d41.278765!4d-123.799005

I tried for the 3D effect that allows the viewer to "drive" the road, but apparently Google didn't photo that route.

Note the pot garden next the driveway, easily visible from the road. This is 2017 photography.

Thanks. This is very helpful. The property isn't too far off 169. I can see that there isn't really a place on Jeff's property to hide his vehicle and it doesn't appear to be gated. The grow in 2017 isn't as big as I expected and there isn't a lot of room to grow more, although I do see what appears to be a greenhouse. It honestly doesn't seem like enough to "disappear" someone over. However, continuing further up past Jeff's property there is a large multiple greenhouse grow, so I wonder if that was his also. That would be major money. Or, as I mentioned earlier, he could have ended up at the wrong property by mistake if he hadn't been there before.

There just may have been a larger crop in 2014. And of course black market prices were higher then. Legalization seems to have dropped the price considerably. Nevertheless, it's pretty bold to continue growing in the face of a homicide investigation of the premises. Except pot is now becoming legal in Humboldt.

There could have been a larger crop in 2014, but I was mostly looking at the amount of room there is on the property for a bigger grow. I'm used to "flying over" the large "fields of green" in Southern Humboldt, so it's pretty small in comparison and only has one possible greenhouse. The fact that it was relatively small could also make splitting it two or three ways less attractive and create a motive, of course.

I'm a little confused by the 2017 copyright date on google maps. That little plot by the driveway looks more like the mess left over after harvest. I'm not sure if they are even planting yet. The weather hasn't been good. But other 2017 properties nearby have bushy plants, so there must be some variation in when the photos are are taken and copyrighted. I'm pretty sure there is a nifty way to find out. I'll check into it.

Another thought too is that google isn't always accurate when you type in an address. Our former acreage in Humboldt shows up across and further down the road than it is. So it's not definite that the address matches what they are showing as Jeff's property. It could even be the larger spread further up the hill. Maybe Peaceofmind can let us know when she posts her maps.

I mentioned earlier that there is a nifty way to look at previous satellite views of an area. Here are the instructions for getting historical information from Google Earth, not Google Maps. It's only available on the desktop version, but is a valuable way to compare past and present views of the earth in the area of interest. Sasquatch has a whole thread on using Google Earth for sleuthing, but this is the link to the relevant post. I guess I'm going to have to install it on my ancient MacBook, since you can't do this on a mobile device.
