If there are any doubles I apologize. and I'm sure I forgot a few.

I would want Jennifer's mom to know about this thread and that people care!
But I want to respect her privacy. Maybe it is too painful for her to re-visit the case.
MysticJynx, you and everyone here have found some really good information, Things I just assumed were lost to time because this happened pre-internet.
I do feel strongly that the answers are there, but it would take a very interested member of LE or a family member to really push.
Mrs. Wilmer pushed for years so perhaps she just can't do it anymore.
I do hope she finds this thread someday and joins the discussion.

Quick question...maybe you guys know...A lot of hippy people collected food stamps (actual booklets) during that time. Was she receiving any benefits? If so, how long were they sent to the house/address/etc before they were stopped. Were any missing front he booklets? I guess, my rationale is that if she was getting them, and some one from the house was using them it would indicate to me that that household knew she was not coming back. If her mail was stacked up, stamps in it, not an issue.

This is another good question for the family.

It was said she was on welfare for a while and was a waitress at one time as well. I don't know if that means prior to her disappearance, Or she was on it at that time of her disappearance. I also wonder, being out in the rural area, if she had mail delivered to that Hawkins Bar house or a PO Box? If she had been moving around a lot a PO Box would make sense.

Have not yet given up on this case yet. Jennifer's 42nd bday is just a few weeks away. Shes been missing since she was 21 and now for almost 21 years.

I was thinking about this "FARM"....
The whole farm thing is suspicious as it is.
It has been asked in forum and speculations to pot farms. And as it had crossed my mind too, I don't think the farm had anything to do with her disappearance. If that was even where she was headed. And I don't think it
was some Illegal Pot Farm. There reason for this thought is because of that article written by billy Jensen. https://sites.google.com/site/billjens/longisland'slostgirls:flowerchildfrombaldwin

Quoted from article
"By September 19, Susan Wilmer had still not heard from her daughter. Jennifer's housemates had gone to visit the farm and realized she hadn't gotten there. Susan Wilmer got a phone call from Tro Patterson, Jennifer's boyfriend. "

The fact that it took nearly a week for her housemates to go in search of her
is questionable. But the fact that they say they went there, makes me think
it was just a farm anyone could walk up too.

Who if anyone went to this farm after the "Housemates" had been there, to question the farm owners and farm aids?

There is a lot of unanswered questions that start right where she was last seen. AT HOME IN HAWKINS BAR with at least 3 of her 4 roommates.

My new theories don't always shed great light but here they go.
I think this does have to do with DRUGS but not a POT FARM
I think Jennifer was mixed up in drugs somehow.
She was either doing them or selling them. Maybe both.
These possibilities are as follows

1. Jennifer was heavy into drug use. Harder drugs. Cocaine? Crack? Heroin? LSD? Meth? and she overdosed. Either alone in the woods still laying where she died.
a) or while with friends. If she had been with friends that were high themselves. Its possible they didn't want to call authorities, in fear of getting in trouble. So they disposed of her body.

2. She got mixed up in selling drugs and came across a buyer that killed her for them.
a) Or the supplier of the drugs she was selling was unhappy with her sales and did something to her.

No Idea just my thoughts and opinions.

Another possibility is, as she was a waitress, was there someone who was overly interested in her from her work? Waitresses are nice to get tips, perhaps someone thought this was her interested in him? Maybe the farm is a red herring. Maybe she got that ticket to go home because someone was stalking her.

It was said there was an older man that went by "Cowboy Fred" that used to follow her around Arcata Plaza. It is always possible that he met her where she was a waitress.

https://sites.google.com/site/billjens/longisland'slostgirls:flowerchildfrombaldwin

* "Cowboy Fred was a dude Jennifer was scared of, for some reason; no one knew why," says Mohon, the private investigator. "He was an older guy and would follow her around Arcata plaza." *

Its said Susan walked around a dead show looking for "Happiness". He was said to have information on Cowboy Fred. What should have been done IMO is someone should have been handing them flyers out by Arcata Plaza.

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&hl=en&q=Jennifer's+Law

Found this on google search books for the proceedings of "JENNIFER's LAW"

http://books.google.com/books?id=KN...CDMQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Jennifer's Law&f=false

This is snipped from this Congressional Record about Jennifer's Law in July 1999. Snipped from the record below.

****Under current law, States are required to report missing children to the FBI so that data can be entered into the National Crime Information Center, NCIC, their missing person file.

However states are not required to report information to the NCIC's Unidentified Person File whenever they recover and unidentified body. Unfortunately, a logical and complete cross-referencing of the missing person file and the unidentified person file does not currently exist.*****

This is exactly what Jennifer Wilmer's mom helped push through congress.

What disappoints me is that the very counties that dropped the ball on Jennifer's missing person's case, continues to drop the ball where the missing and unidentified are concerned.

If the law requires the states to add to the data base all missing people and all unidentified remains found. Why is Humboldt County California allowed to slack in this law.

I have found 2 missing cases and one unidentified body that haven't seemed to made it into these databases.

1. Claire Louise Christie 25 years old at the age of disappearance. Went missing March 30 1977, When her husbands (now known killer) Boat capsized.
her body was never found and she is not listed in any network.
Other women that have gone missing this way have been added to the database, just not Christie.
For an example please see http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/bechler_pegye.html
Especially now knowing this womans husband Ernie Christie JR has been linked to another disappearance and murder that went unsolved for 22 years. Lysandra Turpin. And two other women who were abducted and escaped.

2. Scott Hayes missing since 1996. He is not listed in any database that I found. If he is still missing is beyond me. All I know about him is what I have read. An article about Retired Cop Dan Paris. He mentions Scott in this article. http://www.times-standard.com/ci_12544301.
***Another of Paris' head-scratchers is the case of Scott Hayes, last seen in Arcata in 1996. Hayes' truck was found parked on U.S. Highway 101 near Redcrest. It was out of gas and locked. There were no signs of foul play. The case is as cold as can be***

3. The Jane Doe torso found near Eureka, CA in Oct 1997. This body is linked to the murderer Wayne Adam Ford. He was convicted of killing her the unidentified and 3 others after her, before turning himself into Humboldt Co. Authorities. He led them to more of the unidentified woman's body parts but her head has yet to be discovered. So I was curious to see if this Woman's body has been entered into the database. And guess what I wasn't surprised that she to is not listed in any of these data bases.

So who knows how many missing people have really vanished from Humboldt County. Or if any other bones have been discovered that could be one of these missing peoples.
Maybe its time Internal Affairs to come in and investigate the police. Seems that this county in northern California has a knack for making themselves look completely incompetent.

I wondered about the UID/victim of Ford too. Was it ever checked against Jennifer?

Who knows turns out cant find those remains in NamUs either. That is 4 people now I count from that area who seem to have been missing but no files were ever given to the databases. What I did find on Wayne Ford's Jane doe is found in stories about him rather than in her own case of being an unidentified female waiting to find her home. The torso was found in Ryan's Slough near Eureka on Oct 26 1997. The Coroner stated that she had been dead only 3 or 4 days before the discovery. She was said to be about 18-25 years old and of dark complexion. Three months after her torso was found, they found a hand and arm at another location that was supposedly linked to the same Jane Doe. When Ford turned himself in for her murder and 3 others that were identified he had the last victim's breast in his pocket. Only Jane doe was dismembered. Investigations of a campground in Trinidad turned up 6 or 7 other body parts linked to her. Her head was never found though Wayne said he buried it somewhere near mad river. He also said she was someone he picked up outside of Eureka. If it was Jennifer he was keeping her hostage, and did so through the years he was married. He was married in 1994 and was divorced by the time he committed the murder of Jane Doe. There have been stranger stories. It does seem that Jane Doe may have held a more of a personal relationship with him. He did treat her body differently. And then waited 6-8 months before killing the next three victims between June and Oct 1998.

I was also poking around some of the other cases from Northern California. Charlene Rosser for instance went missing in APR 1998. Her remains were found in 2003 but not cross-referenced till 2012. Almost 10 years her remains waited to go home. That is just sad.

Thanks for all your hard work researching and questioning, MysticJynx. Great posts! :seeya:

I agree that NamUs is incomplete. On my signature case, it was actually a WSer who got the NamUs ball rolling. NamUs had to send the file to local LE to approve. LE deleted some things, thus weakening the profile. They also delayed sending DNA kits to family. She hasn't been found yet, so the delayed DNA wasn't crucial, but it's very disconcerting. Families have to be extremely proactive when a loved one is missing.

I went back to this site and found that she has several envelopes posted her from 1989 to 1991. She attended a show at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. She even attended a show in Oakland California Dec 31 1989.

Nice find with the envelopes MysticJynx! :seeya:
The Gratedful Dead were playing the other side of the Country when JM disappeared. (FWIW) Madison Square. Not that there is any indication she was following the bands live concerts at the time though.

Lets give credit where credit is due. It was Mysterymaven who found the first envelope, I just ran with it.

Yeah I guess I thought it would some how be connected to those NCIC databases they are required to report things to. I was just talking to someone on FB about it. Some of the people however are not even in the California Dept. of Justice searchable site neither. And sometimes they are declared dead, which makes them searchable in death records, which I am unable to find. You would think they would be somewhere. However I am new to this online sleuthing, so I am just noticing some of the brick walls these families must hit sometimes. How frustrating and VERY SAD!

Great work MysticJynx! Awesome sleuthing.
It doesn't sound like Jennifer was a Ford victim. She was very fair.
Nothern California is a really neat place, but my gosh there were/are some really scary people there.
I really think you are onto something with the possibility that Cowboy Fred and Happiness could have been Christie or another bad person from the area.

Yeah even if Christie isn't the bad guy in this case, chances are there is at least one other that came to a fatal end after being with him. His wife Claire Christie, missing since 1977.

Has anyone here ever made contact with a case manager for any cold case? If so do you have any advice for me? I was thinking about calling on Claire's first. Since there is no record of her at all, other than the newspaper articles I had found. If that went well I might give Jennifer's case manager a call. But I'm a :chicken:. Having some advice might sway me.

You could message a mod and they would probably have some knowledge on that.

After all my mod snips I am :chicken: :chicken: :chicken: LAUGHS

Don't worry they are nice! But if you are not comfortable it's ok. Hopefully Jennifer's family will read how much info has come to light on WS and re-ignite the case! I really think the answers are right there.
