Couldn't find one either. Maybe because LE were “100% certain” they had their killer so nothing to sleuth?
The actual one got away for too long but at least he's still alive.

The suspect in 6-year-old Jeremy Stoner's death from 1987 is now a person of interest to Martinez police for their 1987 cold case of 9-year-old Eric Coy.

'SOLANO COUNTY, Calif. — A man is being extradited to Solano County from Oregon after being arrested on suspicion of killing a 6-year-old in Vallejo.
Jeremy Stoner went missing from his home Feb. 21, 1987, just shy of his 7th birthday. His body was found four days later on Sherman Island in Sacramento County.
Now, 36 years later, Fred Cain III is being charged with murder and special circumstances including kidnapping, sodomy and lewd acts on a child, according to Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams. He is 69-years-old and lives in Central Point, Oregon.''

''The killing in Martinez happened less than a month before the Stoner killing in 1987. The victim was 9-year-old Eric Coy.

The boy was killed after leaving to go to his cousin and best friends house in Martinez, California.

"The boy was brutally murdered after leaving his house, stabbed with a blunt object," said one ABC7 News report in 1987.''

''Cops said when they named Melton a suspect in 1987: “He appeared to have knowledge only the person responsible for the child’s death would know.”

Investigators were convinced that Melton was guilty after his psychologist said he had described sick fantasies about young boys. But Melton always proclaimed his innocence.

“If I had done it, I would own up to it. I would not waste the people’s time, the victim’s family’s time or the court’s time,” Melton had told the Sacramento Union.

“The only reason I fight this is because I know I’m innocent and I want the real person to come forward or be found.”

they don't seem to detail how he killed Jeremy. I was wondering if it was similar to how Eric was murdered.
