A Sacramento deacon and father of five was reported missing after he didn't return home and his truck was found in front of a Del Paso Heights home, his family said Monday.
Joe Hendricks was last seen on Thursday in Sacramento. He serves as a deacon at the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church on 15th Avenue in Sacramento and lives in Elk Grove.
Hendricks' wife Althena Hendricks reported him missing on Sunday.
"I talked to him after my lunch break (Thursday) and he told me that he was near our home and that he had two appointments to run in the north area of Sacramento and that he would see me afterwards when he came to pick me up," Althena Hendricks said.
Her husband never came to pick her up from her work.
Althena Hendricks said while her husband's disappearance was strange, she was hoping for the best. However, when Joe Hendricks didn't return home for three days, she went to the Elk Grove Police Department. While filing a missing person's report, Althena Hendricks learned that her husband's truck was found abandoned Thursday in front of a home on Erickson Street.
Elk Grove police said they have not been able to establish a connection between the house and Joe Hendricks.
Althena Hendricks said when she picked up the truck Monday from the impound lot, all of her husband's things were still inside, including two phones, two tablets and a laptop.
"I just cant see him walking away from his property like that," Althena Hendricks said. "I feel like something, something is wrong."
At this point, police don't believe Joe Hendricks' disappearance is suspicious, but investigators said they want to make sure he returns home safely.
