I don't recall Dugal mentioning his name, but don't doubt it.

Those that knew Joey may have been able to figure out his PIN easier than Summer's too... I do wonder if anyone ever asked Mike. IMO if it was my brother and his family, I would probably try to hear them as well... not sure I would delete them all though (but accidents happen?).

IIRC, Joey’s passwords to his different accounts were stored on his computer. I recall reading somebody (don’t know who) got access to those passwords after the family disappeared. I remember seeing them all posted online along with the accounts associated with them. Many of the passwords had Gianni, Joey Jr, and Chubba’s names associated with them.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong about this. But how is any evidence taken from the home even admissible? So many had their hands on things prior to LE coming in. It’s troubling to say the least, IMO.

Do you know the handy trick with the youtube transcripts? LOL There is 3 little dots to the right of the Save .... click that, click open transcript, then you can try the "find" and search key words, like "floor". ETA: if you find floor.. then click that in the transcript, the video will jump to where it is :)

Interesting, was not aware of this feature. It seems to be from voice-to-text conversion, so some are wrongly transcribed (e.g. "... a motion" became "...emotion"). Nonetheless, thank you for the tip.

@Mica I know you have been around here a long time... do you know when Joey's fiscal year end was for the business?

TIA :)

You are welcome! Another poster gave me this tip in the first week! It's funny to read what the translation is sometime haha It's not perfect, but try different key words, I have been successful 99% of the time :)

Thanks, Missy. I have very detailed notes of everyone who has testified. I will start there with DuGal (I already checked MacGyver’s). If I don’t have it I will do the transcript search thing. Thanks so much.
Here's hoping the jurors have taken good notes. I agree with your earlier post that it seems disjointed. So many days in between testimony. Maybe it will pick up when the DT comes up. Better yet if L&C gets their act together.

This was fascinating in the profiler book Whoever Fights Monsters

In cases like these there are up to 3 actual crime scenes.

In reverse order we start with the graves/dumping spot - this is typically called the crime scene. The victims are seldom killed at this location.

Before that will have been a place where the murders happened - a place the killer feels safe and controls

And then first up, the place the victim(s) disappeared from

There may be significant overlap - e.g. as a killer becomes more confident

In the McStay case these is a lot of focus on where they were killed because of the mystery aspect but in cases I read about, this aspect was not so significant in terms of apprehending the killer. Indeed that interim location is often not found.
I've kind of wondered about that myself. Considered maybe they were all knocked out at the house and taken elsewhere? Due to lack of more evidence of a crime in the house. And though we don't know for sure when this all went down, it seems it was done in a narrow window of time. Will remain a mystery, I suppose.

Thanks ocean!

I read many posts here from people saying theft alone doesn't prove he murdered them, but the way he did it is proof he knew Joey wasn't alive after the 4th and only the murderer could know that.

To me that is the smoking gun. Just can't fathom how people seem to overlook this stark fact.

Oh I agree

Chase is testifying by sock puppet
And it seems he had hoped to testify through Cathy, although it remains to be seen whether the defense will call her since he was busted for witness interference. She'll be put through the mill if they do call her.

Who else thinks Merritt may testify? I'll bet that this has been a source of contention between him and his various DT members through the months and years. I think he is persuasive and articulate.

Hey he fooled me until the arrest.

Hey he fooled me until the arrest.

From a strategy perspective he would be stupid to testify because he has no alibi and has told to many porkies in his pre-trial statements

But I get that from a human perspective, he may be that cray

One thing I don't know the rules of in America, does the defendant have to take the stand before the other defense witnesses (if he elects to give evidence) and if not, can he sit in court and listen to the other defense witnesses testify?

Yes. Personally i think it unlikely they were abducted alive, as he 4 people is a lot to control for one guy, and there is the risk of driving them likely over an hour to some location he controlled in his truck. I think he killed them and dumped them in storage, or hid them in the back of his truck

Little Joeys backpack throws me off. Why was it in the graves? Certainly the parents were stopped in their tracks at home. I dont even want to think that the kids were lured out after mum and dad were killed.

Usually, in trials I've watched, the defendant takes the stand last (if s/he testifies). There's no particular order they have to go and yes, CM could sit and listen to all defense witnesses before he testified, if he does (which I don't think he will, esp. given what we heard when the judge was reading the excerpts of the jail tapes, he seems to want Jarvis to testify for him).

I tend to think they were upstairs getting ready for bed. The little guy was in the tub, or wrapped in his baby towel, and his brother was running around playing with his backpack. Probably really proud to have his painting tools. UGH. Heart breaking to even ponder.

The murder of Gianni and Joey makes me sick to my stomach. Especially when you consider Chase had a son the same age as little Gianni. There is a special place in hell for child murderers.
Keep safe OBE. X

Joey Jr. always had his back pack, what better way to make them look like they just went on a drive, or vacation? If his back pack HAD been at the house, I believe several family members and acquaintances would have said "this isn't right". They noticed the double stroller was still in the house, maybe the back pack would have got them to push the button?
CM had access to the storage AND the property in Victorville. They may have been put there til they were buried.
Joey Jr. may have had the back pack on or one side looped on his arm when he was murdered seems the most likely scenario.
