You could be right. But they were buried for 3 years? Little evidence in the graves. Just bones. What could possibly be left in a house that was sold and renovated? Doesn't make sense. Too much time had passed.

The family that moved in didn't paint though... I had expected to hear that they did, before the trial started, there was talk about how they could find signs of blood even if it was painted, etc. The only room IIRC that was repainted was the downstairs bathroom. Flooring was changed I think, but just on the main floor. I really do find it hard to believe that there would be no signs of blood spatter if they were killed in the home... but like you citygirl.... what do I know? ;)

I put one foot into that rabbit hole yesterday LOL In Dugal's testimony, he said that Summer's VM's were there, but Joey's were deleted. Even if they got the VM's on the 19th, 14 days prior was only the 5th, so any VM's from the 5th and on should have been there. There were no VM's from before the 15th (but the second message referenced it being on the news, so whenever it hit the news? I don't think it was the 15th, but no later than the 19th)
But doesn't it take some time to get the search warrant, analysis etc?

It would, but they did have the search warrant for the house on the 19th, I would think they did the cell phones around the same time, once the cell company gets that, I think, but am not sure that they would preserve what is there? I could be wrong, I really don't know, and I don't want to listen to all of Dugal's testimony again lol

I'm thinking of taking the bodies to VV...

I do think that they were killed elsewhere though. I just don't know where! And I can't figure out where the Trooper would have been for 4 days.

JM could have been murdered around the lunch appointment, stashed in the storage unit, SM and kids are murdered in the house. Was there something put over their heads? Loaded up in CM's service truck and taken with him back to the storage on his way home. The Trooper could have been stashed at one of his relatives.

Who knows? The Trooper was South, the bodies were North. What makes the most sense? The bodies would have to be out of the house ASAP. Pings would put them at the grave site on the 6th (if you want to disregard the pings, they were buried ASAP either way). They were somewhere. The Trooper had to be stashed until it was towed from the parking lot on the 8th. It was somewhere concealed or in a place that wouldn't draw attention.

If the idea is to make it look like the family took a trip, the Trooper couldn't be on te street where JM parked it, the bodies couldn't be in the house. Just in case someone shower up.

The 1st part of that has been posted several times in the last 4 years in various WS forums, but so have a lot of other theories.

What is he James Bond? And even if he took them somewhere else to "finish the deal" I would assume the initial wacks to the human skull would leave at least trace amount's of blood that could be recovered forever..

Are you implying he perfectly "swung" at them and caught every single one of them off guard? Possible, but what about the whole "they wound up in a shallow grave in the desert and Joseph looked to be tortured before his death."

This guy must be the most tactical, stealthy, elite criminal I've ever seen. So I guess he woke them up after the first "Whacks" dragged them to the grave.. held Joseph while he raped the wife?

The State presented the worst prosecution in California history.
Trust me. He ain't no James Bond. As for the initial whacks to the skull leaving traces of blood? Testimony has doubted if they could even find DNA after the length of time the bodies were buried in the desert.
I have no clue how he swung at them or who he took down first but I'm guessing the little guys were easy prey. Not sure why he had to hit the older boy 7 times in the skull? His little tiny skull was in shards. Couldn't even piece it all back together.
The state of Joseph's remains is not lost on me. His suffering is palbable. What is your point? I didn't say he was dead just neutralized. And your final thoughts above could very well have happened. Not my words.Yours.

There is testimony that CM only called JM twice. Nothing about the duration of the calls. VM's are non-existent. IIRC, the defense didn't ask about call durations either. On that, I would also conclude CM never left a VM.

If you're not content with my conclusion, feel free to flag my post.
I am not sure what time frame you are referencing with regard to the calling Joseph only 2X, but the cell phone guy, Boles, was asked how many times Merritt called Joseph’s cell from 1/15 to 2/3 and the answer was 230X and he also asked how many times from 2/4 to 2/15 and the answer was 39X. It is on day 23 and the prosecution called it a “toll analysis” to 949-295-7451, which was Joey’s cell number.

Missy, I had NO idea. Thought they repainted, replaced flooring and woodwork.

Nowhere near the same frequency as before though right? Something had changed...
Impossible to tell how many voicemails if they were deleted . . .

See, I think they did have that meeting, and I think JM did make it home... so this theory doesn't quite work for me LOL Might work... but not for me ;-)

I think they will try to imply Joey pre-signed the blanks

Any other idea about Chase being allowed to forge Joey's signature is too silly
Not as silly as you might think. A very honest lady I worked with forged the managers signature more than once, because she was sick of waiting for him to approve payouts for clients. Nobody complained.

I don't think the length of the call would have been long enough. After I catch up and have a coffee I will see if I can find them.
On one of the call spread sheets (extended with tower locations) in evidence, there were codes, VM for Voice Mail and I think VMR for Voice Mail Retrieval. It was explained on the stand, can't remember what witness. The short versions had it typed on the specific call line like below:

They did the baseboards as well.. reading your post reminded me!

Can you tell me who's testimony that comes from? I'll look it up, but I am pretty sure it was more than that. IIRC I did see some on his records and they were just under a minute, I will say JMO until I can find them. You are correct though, his VM's are non-existent, but so were all VM's prior to the 15th or possibly the 19th (whenever the media first started reporting on it, no later than the 19th)
I think it was Dugal but cooroberated by another.

LOL Didn't someone say he is like Barney Rubble? I can't get that outta my head now when I watch him haha

But they didn't repaint cabinets and walls? If so,one would think they may have found some evidence of blood somewhere, and they didn't.

It puts one less vehicle at the home to move. If they were killed at home by the murderer that also drove his vehicle to the house, he has to move the Trooper and his vehicle.
