I really don’t know if it existed. According to the EIP site, it did. But since Smith investigated and couldn’t find a warehouse, I suspect it didn’t exist. One thing I do know, the warehouse at the listed address is nowhere near 50,000+ sq. ft.

I don't think Smith looked for the warehouse, I think he was looking for a storage facility, AMS storage I think?

Do we have any idea if the shop/warehouse was ever located and/or searched? TIA!

I believe Smith tried to find it and was unable to. I will say JMO because I am not sure where in testimony it is lol

This is so confusing lol...so Smith was looking for a shop/warehouse? I thought he was looking for a storage unit. Not the storage pods that the McStays were using to store their personal belongings, but rather a storage unit for work-related stuff. It's unclear who was actually renting the storage unit, whether it was Joey or Chase, or both of them. It's also unclear whether this is the same storage unit that Chase had stored some of his own supplies in. Remember Mr. Sequeida testified that he was annoyed that Chase made him stop at his storage unit to pick up equipment etc?

I'm assuming Smith or someone in LE interviewed Mr. Sequeida, I wonder why they didn't ask him to show them where Chase's storage unit was. There could of course be additional units as well though. I would think that would be something relatively easy to investigate and figure out but apparently not lol.

It exists now. It is an industrial park.

It might be what Mica said... not as large as represented. I recall from the early years that there were a lot of questions about the storage facility and the warehouse and whether it was ever used for EIP. JMO

Oh, well then that’s something different.

This is what I understood as well.. they were looking for a storage unit.

BBM - good point, I wonder if they ever did ask him to point it out, if he recalled.

Yes, I believe you are correct; he was looking for a storage unit. That is why he went to that one location where he saw that they sold padlocks with the Chateau keys.

I think on the EIP website they included MSM as “their” location. That is what you do in business to make yourself look bigger. Like when I was asked early in my business how many employees I had and I included the kid who just scanned stuff once in a while and the cleaning lady. I mean, I was paying them, right?

Something made Smith go to that particular storage facility (AMS.) But yet there was no record of a unit being rented by Joey or CM? Odd.

hmmm @Mica since you seem to have all the stuff from early on .... do you know if they used MSM's address in Asuza on their website?

I have used at least a dozen storage facilities over the years and every single one had padlocks for sale, usually Chateau, it's a popular brand. I don't know why Smith thought that would narrow it down to one facility.

Sorry to quote this post again and you are all welcome to ignore this.

The 6th is actually really important because by now Chase should be thinking “why hasn’t Joey called me back by now”. So it’s totally unexplainable that he doesn’t ring Joey on the 6th. I would also expect phone calls to Summer and the home landline on the 6th as well because of how much they talk on the phone.
Yes and after several days, why not drive out to Fallbrook and knock on a few neighbor's doors, to find out if they knew where JM and family went? Isn't that what MOST concerned friends would do?

If you were paying them, they should be included. But saying one “owns and occupies a 50,000+ sq. ft. facility” when they “might” have occupied approx. only 6,000 sq. ft. is something else. Also, I never was able to find any record of Joey owning the warehouse at that location.

No. Not if the friend thought that there was a good reason that the family went off the grid for a few days. I know it's hard for some here to adjust their way of thinking to what someone else might be thinking, but not everyone's lifestyle is the same and not everyone reacts the same to circumstances like these.

Well Mike’s first thought was he thought they went on a 10 day vacay. I think Susan testified to similar. It’s something they said the family did. And I’m guessing it’s part of the reason Mike didn’t report them missing until the 15th.

I think Smith went looking for the storage unit, couldn't find it, but in the course of that investigation he found out that they sold the locks there and there might have been a record of it ... IIRC this is what the search warrant was for and they got the storage unit's computer tower and was unable to find record that a lock was sold to either Joey or Chase.

He went on the 9th... after going to Susan's IIRC

At least he went. JMO

I think he also went to Pechanga that day, which is located close by to Fallbrook.
