Since I believe the killer drove the Trooper to the border where it was found.

I want to see how the defense

A. gets the “real” killers DNA into the Trooper
B. Get CMs DNA out of the drivers side.
C get CMs DNA in the passengers side where it should be since he said he rode in the Trooper weeks earlier.

Do, do, do, do

IMO

It was testified to by Don Jones that there was unidentified DNA in the Trooper.

So why does this daughter not have Merritt's last name?

  • #1,063
Because she was a kid when all this happened, and she was asked about that night FOUR years after the event. Taylor wasn't questioned in 2010. She was questioned in 2014.

So then if she is unreliable then she shouldn’t be on the stand.

On the plus side she helped the prosecution so that’s a bonus.

What? Related to Merritt, so they are unable to tell the truth? You have based your opinion on a few tweets and haven't even "heard" her yet.

Isn't this exactly what confirmation bias is?

Yes. THAT is exactly what confirmation bias is.

Wait!!

Someone pull me out of this rabbit hole please..

I thought the call from JM (on his cell report) that is being discussed in court did not show up on CM’s cell report.

If that is true how did Dad, Mom and daughter gather around dad’s phone and see the call coming in??

IMO

“It’s your lie, you can tell it anyway you want.”

Maline is on re-direct. Jarvis is crying when asked why she talks to her dad about the case. She says this case is why she wants to go into law.
WOW!! pissed we won't get to see this. <modsnip - discussing content from a chat>
Seems she isn't so confident today. While part of me wants to feel sorry for her, another part of me doesn't. It takes true courage to tell the truth when it's your family member who committed a crime.

Additionally - her testimony seems like a huge mistake for the defense. They had to have anticipated it wouldn't stand up to her previous interviews and should have known the pros. would call her out based on the taped jailhouse interviews. I'm not sure how she bolstered his defense at all and it was a mistake for them to call her. I can only imagine CJ's testimony will be more of the same.

I feel a teensy bit sad for the daughter. She wants to believe her daddy is not a quadruple murderer. Sad.

He likely isn't. Investigators did make a lot of mistakes.

IMHO the "killer" made more mistakes than the investigators. :)

WOW!! pissed we won't get to see this. IIRC someone said that his daughter was boasting on the L&C chat "just wait until the defense puts on their case" etc.

We don't know that the daughter was ever on any chat.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I found the 3D imaging evidence very powerful, and very damaging for the defendant.

Imo, it all works in tandem with all of the other evidence.

Imo, the jury will link the timing of when his truck was seen at the McStay home on the 4th, along with the QB evidence, and all of CMs cell phone evidence.

It truly is amazing how much evidence the state has been able to amass against CM, since for so many years the SD police department let so much time lapse doing really nothing by just writing off this murdered family as one who just willingly went missing.

I thought the 3D expert was reasonable with his fee.

It will be interesting to see how much the DT has had to pay for all of their experts or as they are often known as 'hired guns.'

It reminds me of another hired gun, Steve Feldman paid in David Westerfield death penalty case. Paid a bug expert many thousands, and he said the insects found on little Danielle Van Dam showed him she died two weeks before she was even kidnapped, raped, and murdered.

Oops! To say the least that was a big waste of money, and the jury's time.

Imo

And it's the TAXPAYERS, who are on the hook for all of the Defense Team and their so-called experts. Disgusting.

If anyone has ever heard Taylor interviewed you will know that she comes off better than she is being quoted in these tweets. Whether she is bending truth, or not, she believes in her dad. It will be interesting to listen to this tonight.
Is there anything out there with her being interviewed? I don't recall seeing it if there is

Javis told investigators her dad gambled at the casino. He was a good poker player. He went to the casino sometimes to gamble to make money for car payments. Her parents argued about money because he would put a lot of money back in the business not over gambling

In my opinion, the ABOVE tweet shows that she believes her father's BS. Gambling addicts don't go to the casino to make money for car payments. They go to feed their compulsion. I wonder how many car payments he ever actually 'won' by going to the casino?

And I don't believe that he ever 'invested his $ back into the business.' I think that is as lie he told to cover his gambling losses. JMO

I am NOT calling his poor daughter a liar. I am calling her another one of his victims.

Yes. Rick Baker interviewed her. I actually still have the interviews on my Ipod.

But I have a feeling her testimony on the stand will "sound" different listening than trying to interpret by tweet.

Leticia is doing a good job, but it's just not the same.

I can feel empathy for her but that bit about knowing of the phone call that never came (and an all night argument over it) - when in her first statement she was either at the theater or club house watching a movie? A criminal justice major should know better than to try to rewrite history from the witness stand.

Wut?

This is insane

The defence have clearly manufactured bogus testimony here

All respect lost for mcgee

we don't know for sure it was her, but I was in chat at the time.... who cares though really lol if being in a chat or researching has any bearing on credibility....what does that say about others that did the same?

I'm not trying to be critical, but I do wonder how in this day and age people still just believe whatever they are told on-line. Anyone could have used her name or pretended to be her. Those who have followed this case for long enough probably all heard her interview with Baker. A little healthy cynicism is useful when navigating these chat rooms, I think.

It's like people who claim to be lawyers, yet don't know the first thing about stare decisis.

That’s good then.

I’m sure the defense will provide who the DNA belongs to.

Still can’t explain how CM’s DNA was not on the passenger side. Think the Judge talked about that.
