I would like to get a clarification about whether MM met JM at Chick fil a on Feb. 4. A couple of posts here a day or two ago this was mentioned. So if MM gets asked, I wish he'd say, "ask him, he is sitting right there".
I would prefer to know for sure that CM met him at CFA . No proof that he did. Only his word. And I don't think it happened. MOO.

Does anyone know what kind of special power cord the computer/HD that MM took used? Was it a rare type, not available in most electronic/computer stores?

So you take the trouble/effort to crawl into the house from the window to get the computer/hard drive, obviously there is something important to do with them, right? But you give up because you don't have the right power cord? Wouldn't you try somehow to get the right power cord? And if you tried, couldn't you get one? And if you got one, wouldn't you plug it in to the computer?

A window that CM allegedly alerted him to. An open window into the office. According to his interviews he had been there many days before, almost every day. Watering and feeding the dogs. Never went through that window until Mikey arrived. Also noted that the desk lamp was never turned off. Joey kept this on for the boys when they came down in the middle of the night to get water. Are we to believe this illuminated the stairs for them? They all slept in the same bedroom as far as we know . Are we then to believe that the 3 and 4 year old came down to get water unattended? Such BS from the defendant.

BBM

Wasn't there also testimony that the neighbor was taking care of the dogs?

Here’s the thing about the power cord. To me, that only makes sense with a laptop. Desktops all use the same kind of power cord. Laptops are quite specific and will give you warnings if you attempt to boot one with the wrong cord.

Just my opinion.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly as it's been so long, but wasn't there an animal control officer who testified early on that neighbors called about the dogs and she came and brought the bag of dog food for them? I can't remember if she came out more than once, seems like forever ago that the trial started.

True. If this was the only thing you had on your plate. This man ran his own business, lived in a different town with his wife and four children and assumed his brother may have gone out of town. No reason to suspect foul play. What regular, normal family could anticipate what happened to this family? It would never be on my radar. Would it be on yours?

MM addressed this is his testimony. He had other pressing issues he felt were more important, such as passing out flyers, creating the website, uploading pictures, and raising his own family. Going to Best Buy to get the correct cord fell on his list of priorities. He had to make a choice on how to most effectively utilize his time.

I never thought of that, looking at the E-Machine power cord online, it would have matched my hubby's computer lol I don't know if they are all the same, but it looks like it would be pretty easy to replace and had a common end. I have used a laptop for years, and have only one ever had to replace a cord once, it was a pain because it does have to be a specific one.

The issue I have with his reasons is that he took the computer before Dugal even came out to the house. Wouldn't you use the available resources through LE, to determine if there might have been an accident or credit card and/or bank withdrawals before spending time and money on flyers and public appeals? Most concerned families would be blowing up the phone calling LE. jmho

And he returned the computer to the house before the 19th, so he only had it for approximately 3 days.

He took the computer after he saw DuGal.

I have spent the last several decades dealing with computers and it is my experience that the cord for a desktop is the same for every computer. (Not talking Apple products). The laptop cords are all different. I am convinced it is a way to make money with these laptops. I have 6 laptops in my home office right now and none of them use the same cord. They are all Dells too. Go figure.

Since you are asking me, I'm replying about me (not MM): If I think there is something important on my missing relative's computer that I want to see/access but don't want the LE see/know, I would get hold of the computer before it gets to the LE's hands. If I simply want to know about credit card/bank withdrawal info, I'd contact the credit card company or the bank, because I would think my behavior would look sneaky and suspicious if I take my missing relative's computer when they have just vanished without an explanation and before the LE has investigated/processed everything in the house. If I suspect foul play, I'd definitely let the LE do their work before I take anything away. If I believe they went on vacation, then I wouldn't take their computer, as it's not mine.

I'm a Toshiba girl myself LOL and even those are all different... except the 2 that I have that are exact.... one is a paper weight though!

I wonder where the "Mike took a laptop" started from? I don't recall thinking any different, but I am not sure if it's because we were told along the way it was a laptop or if I just assumed it was because grabbing a laptop sounds easier and makes more sense than a desktop, but I guess it makes sense if he was wanting to look at Joey's personal stuff. Like in my own house, you wouldn't find my husbands info on my computer, it would be on his.

Oh dear. I must have led a sheltered life. None of this would have ever crossed my mind.

I am just looking over notes I took and MM said he didn’t get into the external hard drive either. Other than that, I have nothing stating anything else about the computers, at least not under his testimony. I can check DuGal’s.

ETA: DuGal states he received a call on the 16th from Susan. He learned that she was cleaning up and that MM had taken “computers.” DuGal asked SB not to clean any more and to have the computers returned to the house.

Not only would MM need a power cord, he would need to connect the tower to a monitor. So there is that too.

MOO, Dugal and company were a bit lackadaisical in their investigation. I get the sense MM wanted answers LE could not provide. The family was missing. No one knew if the family was surfing in Belize, kidnapped by the cartels, or buried in two shallow graves. MM was trying to find his missing brother and family the best way he knew how. IMO, he was overwhelmed by it all.
