Just wow - seems so much starker when its written down
Doesn't it.

One of the most fascinating parts (there are many of course!) is when he talks about the dog food being left. DuGal picks up on it even though he may not have realised why he did, it was left there not already stored there, Merritt let out more than he planned to with those words.

Wow! Yes I agree - that was a bad mistake IMO.

This is the problem with the whole staging. Why would the "real killer" stage the dogs? Why would DK bother when he was in Hawaii?

Only someone who needed additional access to the inside of the house would need to do this

TD: And, did you try again on Saturday?

CM: I’m quite sure that I probably tried almost every day and probably a few times a day. There’s no doubt.

"I'm quite sure that I probably tried...."

Referring to himself in the 3rd person. Strangely. He's over repetitive, assuring them "there's no doubt".

He always uses that wishy washy language, always leaving himself an escape hatch.

He is "quite sure" that he PROBABLY tried....

Which is it? Is he sure? Or is it probable?

But he's clear that he does (present tense) Joseph's finances and he wants them to know that tidbit, because it's important.

That's exactly what I thought, MM.

I guess that is career conman-speakisms. He makes sure his words are as slippery as an eel.

Well there is a grain of truth in that statement. He did, after all write himself some checks!

I can't figure out why DuGal is so certain someone else was at the Chic-fil-A meeting. Have we ever heard anything about that?

Has this been addressed again at the testimonies with DuGal?

Not that I remember. But, I haven't read all of the transcripts. Maybe the DT will clarify it when the trial resumes.

One possibility is that "sure" and "definitely" were his pet phrases and didn't mean much. So when he said "I was definitely the last person he saw/spoke to", he may have meant probably.
