It's quite possible that DK had some sort of involvement but nothing can be proved, very similar to the situation that now exist with CM. LE sabotaged this case 9 years ago, it's now fatally flawed and IMO, no one will ever be convicted for their murders.
If there was no evidence against CM and this case didn't pass the legal standard for Trial we wouldn't be here discussing it.

It is very unfortunate that SDSO was limited to investigating the case strictly as a missing person, however, I think SBSO more than made up for it with their thorough investigation, especially when one considers how much time had elapsed and what they were left to work with.

I'm confident that the state will clearly lay out the case during closing, all the pieces will fall in to place and we will once again watch Charles Ray Merritt be lead away in chain and shackles. :)

I'm talking conviction as in BARD, a threshold standard way above the required 'probable cause' needed for bringing a case to trial. IMO, the sad issue with this case is it appears there wasn't even enough evidence to meet the 'probable cause' standard until the SBDA manipulated the evidence to fit their agenda. I believe that CM will one day receive a large cash settlement compensating him for his time in custody. Perhaps, one day if I happen to run into him at the poker tables I'll have some of that money.

Indeed! And if Kavanaugh was in any way involved he'd be sitting there right with Merritt, but he is not.

It a nutshell this is what sabotaged the case.

This doesn't happen. Ever. Unless you're Steven Avery. This is not a case of planted evidence.

It's Chase Merritt's name on all those backdated checks.

It's Chase Merritt's truck on the video.

It's Chase Merritt calling QB posing as Joseph to delete the account he wrote the checks from.

It's Chase Merritt's phone pinging the tower near the burial site.

It's Chase Merritt who went on to steal more money from the family after the murders.

Just that Maline wanted to give the update but not appropriate? to do it in open court. That's it.

Is this an example of CM on the day he receives his cash settlement?
If he is acquitted he doesn't get large monetary compensation to my knowledge.

Anyone found not guilty may apply to the judge to have his legal costs paid out of central funds; this is not automatic, but is usual if the court agrees that the charges should not have been brought. The amount payable is set out by regulations depending on where the case was heard; since October 2012 it has been set at legal aid rates, which are unlikely to cover a full defence team. Somebody who did not have a lawyer can charge for the time he himself spent on the case, but this is assessed at a standard rate similar to minimum wage, even if he happens to be an expensive lawyer.

Nope, all I got was the test screen.

yeah, thanks! I saw your post from earlier saying an early start... so I popped the feeds on quickly ;-)

I was just curious if it meant no court today... but sounds like jury is there today...

So, what happens if McGee is really sick? Can Maline continue without him?

McGee not there.. judge has been updated on his "medical condition"...

Dr. Rudin was supposed to be called today, was McGee's witness, Maline was unable to get up to speed in time to do the questioning...

Doesn't sound like they will be going today....

McGee is on the phone... or invisible today LOL

officer Hart... he reviewed the house phone logs...

Steers... they wanted to call him to play a wire tap that they believe is admissible now because it came up in questioning earlier...

Maline saying to give him 30 minutes to get up to speed... and maybe they can do a witness or 2... okay, nevermind ...

Accountant on Monday...

I have no idea what state law the link you posted is referring to. In California it’s $140 for everyday in custody, rubber stamped, but when considering other factors such as a potential malicious prosecution it could go well into the millions. So figure about $230K without any civil litigation. This amount should last CM at least a week or two at the poker tables.

Well it's a good thing Maline passed on questioning for today. Made me nervous when he said he will need 30 minutes to get up to speed.
