That's why I don't understand the point LOL Even saying what one would think they would do... no one knows until they are in that situation.

A few years ago, I would have told my kids to always cooperate with the police, especially if you didn't do anything wrong. Nowadays, I tell them to not speak to them without one of us there or now that they are older, not without a lawyer. It's just the way it is now. I'm not saying it because of a lack in trust with LE, I'm saying it because kids (now young adults) are stupid LOL, they don't always understand what is going on and may not understand the impact of their words. And with all the cases I follow, it's just smart advice to keep your mouth shut, guilty or not. IMO That being said... my kids have also been told over the years that I would be the first to call the cops if I thought they needed to be called LOL Fear the Mom!!!!:D:D:D
I have a huge amount of respect for law enforcement but i feel the same way. Words get twisted, kids aren't always the brightest and next thing you know they're locked up. And yes, fear the mom!

Can you share where they showed his phone "pinged" in Hawaii? I must have missed this.

You are correct, Missy. No evidence of DKs phone pinging in Hawaii.

We do however, have evidence of DKs debit card pinging in Hawaii. All over as a matter of fact. And those appear to be a more accurate indicator of location that a cell phone ping. A cell phone can ping off of neighboring towers, depending on weather, # of users, etc.

A debit card transaction is going to ping EXACTLY where it was used. I heard specific addresses listed, like FoodLand on King Kamehameha Highway and a specific ATM. AKAIK, those locations won't "jump`. They can probably even determine what cash register was used.

I sorta get this. Back in the day one of my boys went off the road in a light snow. Went down an embankment, hit a few mail boxes on the way, and took out a fire hydrant . I came to the rescue. As we sat in the car the officer came over and asked him if he had his seat belt on. He said NO. I was dying! But the cop gave him a pass for being honest.

Yep! Whether our kids like to believe it or not, we are smarter LOL Really, Merritt keeping his mouth shut was probably one of the smarter things he has ever done. IMO

I don't disagree with you. His card was used to make transactions, I absolutely agree. But unfortunately, there is still a window there. There is no way to know 100% if that was actually Dan that did that. I am not saying this is true or not true... but it is a reality IMO

In a hypothetical situation that someone is on trial for a murder and they were using transactions such as the Paypal debit card transactions as an alibi, IMO there is no way most of us here would accept that as a valid alibi without proof that it was that person using the card. If that and the phone records the prosecution used are all that were needed, I could plan the perfect crime. :D JMO

However, since the defense is making the claim that DK was not in Hawaii, the defense needs to offer us some reason to believe that he wasn’t there. So far, they haven’t.

They have IMO The IP addresses are a 'reason to believe he wasn't there'. You might not believe it, others might.

My bad. I meant his phone was in Hawaii as shown by the phone records using the 808 area code. (The old fashioned way a phone would “ping” lol). His debit card pinged in Hawaii.
Believe it or not, I did not intentionally mean to mislead. I should have phrased it differently.

how do you figure this shows he was in Hawaii? IMO it shows that he dialed an 808 number and received calls from 808 numbers. It also shows he called a 707 and a 949 number, but I doubt that means he flew back to California quickly to make those calls.

Link please to DK’s phone pings?!

There is no phone ping records of DK's. So there is no evidence of DK's phone pinging in Hawaii or anywhere else for that matter. I'm sure it exists somewhere, but not in evidence.

I'm guess I'm in the minority...but I do not understand anyone opining that Kavanaugh might be responsible for the murders instead of Merritt, with the mountain of circumstantial evidence that most definitely exists against Merritt. It just boggles my mind.

I'm not even going to post any more and think I'll just wait for the Guilty verdict on this one.

The IP addresses are something that someone desperate for a straw to cling to might use as a ‘reason to believe he wasn’t there.’

I looked up my IP address in Google some years ago, and saw that it said I was on the East Coast, (USA), when in fact I was on the West Coast. That’s why I don’t believe it.

edited to fix typo

Yes exactly, and i have posted up links to this information previously upthread. IP addresses don't really prove anything of where someone is actually located at the time. There is more to it than that, from what i have read about it.
