Or maybe just an addict who would prefer not to be bothered with it all.
That's also a possibility, nobody really knows for sure.

Good Morning everyone! Sorry I'm late!! I'm just going to plonk some tweets of Cathy's in here for those who're unable to follow the trial by watching the live coverage. (They may or may not have been posted already--apologies if they have).

#McStay - The jury is waiting to be let into the courtroom. The judge will go on record and then we expect them to be escorted outside to view the truck. The defense will finish with Det. Bachman and possibly call their investigator then court will be adjourned until May 21

#McStay - Prosecutor Imes tells the judge Merritt's truck is not operational. Therefore, the jurors will not be able to see any of the lights on. The lights have been the source of debate between the two sides as it pertains to the neighbor's video.

#McStay - Prosecution tells the judge during arguments over Kavanaugh this morning, "There are reasons we didn't call him and those reasons are protected by work product."

#McStay - Court is back in session w/o jury. They're working on redactions in a transcript that will go with video the defense is going to play for the jury. The video is excerpts from Merritt's police interview that was already played during state's case

I missed this morning and I can't get the stream to rewind. Do I understand Maline told the jury that they couldn't find DK?

  • #1,424
I'd rather she show the defendant's reaction instead of dissing MR.

yes Maline told the Judge this - the jury was not present..but they didn't start to look for him until February. They also could not locate Riccobene, even though they had put her in some secret place for a while. lol

Prosecution tells the judge during arguments over Kavanaugh this morning, "There are reasons we didn't call him and those reasons are protected by work product."

What does that mean? I’m thinking that they’re saying that they don’t need to explain their strategy to the defense?

  • #1,431
Wait, I don't think he said that in front of the jury, yet. This morning's session was not in front of the jury.
Read it too quickly. A tad flustered with all the shenanigans. LOL.

I just got back home, and missed this morning antics. o_O

After lunch, we are going to watch some video excerpts of Chase being interviewed by detectives?

Did I hear correctly at the end this morning (after truck viewing) when judge was going over the last witnesses with Maline that he said Robertson would be the last? No Dr. Rudin?

  • #1,434
None of this drama/nonsense put forth by the DT about DK will matter , if the state can show he was in Hawaii, during their rebuttal. I am hoping they have a few kernels of evidence they have saved for that.

That's what it sounded like to me.
Judge asked the PT if they would start rebuttal next week.

Let’s be honest the judge has been a waste of space from the get go. The entire trial has been a s*it show because of his attitude.

This trial is a farce and has made a mockery of justice. IMO MOO etc etc

Agree, the victim's families should be able to go for "Ineffective Administration of Justice", (my terminology) IMO,

This sounds so different from a couple months ago. [The rest has been deleted by poster]

It looks like it's been a bad day for the prosecution.

Good to hear a new member tell it like it is.

How can Dan the Man be that hard to find in this day and age? I call BS. IMO, the defense prolly didn't try to hard to find him.

I wonder if the prosecution tried hard to find Chase's truck in order to prove their case.

What I understood yesterday was the judge was giving the option to the prosecution to start their rebuttal now, and McGee will question Rudin when he returns. Imo. I dont know if Rudin got dropped today though.

That, IMO, would only hold true if CM's guilt depended on DK not doing it.

It disregards all the evidence against CM which puts him in the house on the 4th, in the Trooper, and in the desert. The PT case is not solely built on motive, which the DT case is.

That seems so disjointed to me, but you probably have it right.
