CA - Joey, Summer, Gianni, Joseph Jr McStay Murders - Feb 4th 2010 #7

When people go unexpectedly missing or are found murdered or both, everything in their lives is suddenly coated in an ominous patina. It's possible, if not probable, that Joey's illness was nothing more than that, a circumstance that happens to thousands if not millions, every day.

Oh, I have no doubt about that JMarsh. Stress? I recall allergies were a big issue for him as well. But back in 2010 and until the bodies were found, lots of theories were out there, one of them was that he was being poisoned. Surely I cannot be the only one that remembers this LOL

I'm confused again. So many have posted that CM never tried calling JM after the 4th or 5th, yet per Sgt. Ryan Baker above, he called as late as Feb 9th

He did call. The length of time of the calls suggest that he left VM's. The problem with the VM's is that they were deleted before SD got a hold of them!

I know it has been said that he never called... but Chase's phone records do show calls to Joey, not as many as "normal" though.

This really brings to mind the power of belief in general. Belief can cement itself into the mind, and even in the face of established truths, can defy reason. That's why for me, it is so important to make certain our beliefs are influenced not by speculation but by hard facts and reliable evidence.

It's not a bad thing to be a little cynical and skeptical of everything, until you have fully vetted the information we are absorbing.

THIS! And because so many things in this case were reported incorrectly IMO Just looking back on the early threads... uggh so much wrong info.

I'm not in a place where I can post these. But I have a feeling if you google "Mcstay Merritt" and click on images a pic will pop up. It was a picture that was either in an article or the CNN special. If you haven't found it by tomorrow I'll dig it up.

I don’t think Chase can solely be blamed for people having their own opinions on Summer.

She was obviously very out spoken, rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and she had lied about her age and had different surnames. So people jumped to conclusions about her past.

I agree. That is how it appeared to me as well. Summer became a target because she had a mind of her own and stood up for what she believed. If she'd been a man she would have been viewed as strong. As she was a woman, then she must be capable of murder!!!!!

Sorry for the feminist rant, but I've often felt the treatment of Summer was as wrong, as I'm now beginning to believe the treatment of Chase has been.

And guilty or innocent, Chase was a jerk for disparaging a woman who is no longer here to defend herself. And boy, if he is innocent, he is paying dearly for those remarks. I do believe that but for his CNN interviews, Chase might not be on trial now.

In case anyone is wondering... we are on lunch break! They were getting into what was tested from the graves before break. I was having troubles hearing at the time (my bluetooth, not the feed, which has been good today so far) Here are Cathy's last tweets...

Yep, that's how I recall it happening... first we found out about her age and name changes... it made her an easy target for criticism, even her housecleaning abilities did. Then the border video comes out and at the least, her Mom says it's her, but everyone thinks it's NOT Joey.... the Trooper was their truck pulling out... so many different elements at the time.

From what I've read it's about 2 weeks if it's outdoors subject to the elements, heat and UV light etc, and about six weeks indoors. I don't know if being in a car would be a cross between indoor and outdoor with sunlight through the windshield.

What about in a grave? Did you read anything about that? Thanks.

I wonder if the paintball event was true if CM orchestrated going so that he could explain away DNA found later. Not sure he was planning 6 weeks in advance however.

There is a picture of him riding in the Trooper on the way to paintballing? I believe the did indeed go paintballing. I am questioning whether he actually rode in the Trooper to paintball.

The guy who's been testifying this morning says wtte there is next to no chance of recovering touch/trace DNA after 4 years in the grave. That was his opinion before testing and because LE were persistent that they wanted him to try anyway he did, even undoing knots to see if the inside of the knots which had less exposure to the surroundings would yield anything. He's going through his results item by item but I think I heard a spoiler that nothing was recovered in terms of touch/trace DNA. So far he's covered the panties, the bra cup with the paint drip and the bra clasp.
