#McStay - Prosecution disclosed a new witness late last night. Eugene Liscio @Forensics3D . FARO scan testimony. Imes: he's not available until March 12. Judge may consider allowing state to rest and reopen with him later. No ruling on if this testimony will be allowed.

Is Jarvis dense or devious? Maybe she's like Bundys girlfriend, stays home and bakes pies while hubby is out smashing peoples brains in.

If she would have gone to the police early on this trial would be a memory now and the families would be healing. Instead they suffered unbelievable abuse while the corpses moldered out in the desert.

What was she thinking when her husbands employer and family dissapeared? Did she notice Merritts sudden wealth? Whose computer was used to print those checks, will she maintain she was in the dark?

We are talking about the cruel murders of little babes. She is a heartless monster and needs locked up. I hope that she too will face charges someday but its doubtful.

"Smashing people's brains in" hardly touches upon what he did. He was incredibly vicious. Sorry for the graphic description, but just one of the myriad ways in which he brutalized his victims was that he bit her nipple off. That's torture. And, yes, he had lovely women all around him, too, like so many depraved men.

The women who love these guys, cover for these guys, are too numerous to count. In a sense, they are as culpable as the perpetrators -they stand by, often knowing what's going on, and think only of themselves -they're love life, they're finances, etc. Just let it be known that there is a depraved rapist/muderer in prison, and women come out of the woodwork.

We don't really know the extent of what CJ knew/didn't know, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if she knew everything. She would be just one of countless women who knew, who did nothing.

So the detective said "Michelle" was on the recording? Not Cathy Jarvis? I am confused.
I think they only played that extract from Michelle's visit where he was talking about his change of identity. And I think they are probably saving the jail house visits by Cathy for when she takes the stand. If she doesn't take the stand I don't know if they then get to somehow play it later?

This new expert witness will be testifying about the Rudin scan, IF the judge allows it.

When is she taking the stand? They are discussing resting their case very soon, apparently? o_O

If they rest their case now, this defendant is walking away free, imo.

Read the search warrants. They are on line.

I think the disagreement is with the content of what those search warrants say: They may state he's an "involved parent", many here just disagree with that what that seems to imply. Either way, "involved parent" isn't a provable or disprovable fact. It's just an opinion.

I wonder what happened to Dr Rudin.

If this is the case I’m not liking the chances of conviction.

How can you go from 6 months trial to this?

I’m totally baffled!!

So this two timed felon that is now a defendant in a death penalty case has TWO women visiting him? Uggg, I am embarrassed for my gender.

Watching further along on cross (in between the constant buffering) Smith tells the jury it was Mechelle who was visiting when that part was recorded on Feb 1st.
I'm imaging how that conversation was going.

Chase's hands cupped around his mouth yelling "I'll be a ghost writer, maybe pick a name like 'Bryan Joseph Mcdoogal'. I don't want them to know it's me. Call Rick Baker. TELL RICK I'LL GIVE HIM HALF THE RIGHTS."

What is really pathetic, and will bite Chase in the 🤬🤬🤬, is the story and excuses for that evening keep growing. Now we have Chase helping Cathy to remember that night.

Oh the tangled web he weaves himself into.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the look on Merritt's face when this jury convicts him for the murder of this family.

Yes, the goal post seems to keep moving.

So the once upon a time selective amnesia man now suddenly is an astute teacher of memory recall????

It would be laughable if this case wasnt so sad, and serious.

I wonder what happened to Dr Rudin.

The judge explained it a little bit. I would have to listen again, but essentially he explained that Rudin did not put in his report, the nuts and bolts needed to support his ability to make certain claims, etc. And the defense had some issues with it. And the Prosecution then came up with another expert in same field who has a stronger history of doing trials and explaining his computations and results?

No way. We have all the evidence we need. The jurors have been taking notes and let us pray there are no attention seeking ding dongs to disrupt the eventual deliberations.

Its kind of expected the defense portion will be long. Lets see what kind of display they put on.

The defense had a major objection, which was that the CNN video is only showing 20 minutes of a 5 hour interview, so it is skewed etc. Judge said 'oh well...good luck finding the unpublished 5 hours, but if you do...'

Exactly. It's quite normal. We have seen a myriad of family members of defendants attend the trial, and were there throughout every day.

99 percent of the defendants I've seen on trial were found guilty BARD. Its common for some family members of the defendant to attend the trial. Maybe they want to see the trial evidence for themselves.

Its only natural for family members to want to believe the one they love couldn't ever do such horrific cruel murders even though its proven over, and over again, they do.

What family member would ever want to believe anyone in their family is capable of using a sledgehammer to crush the skulls of two tiny children??

Even if he is convicted BARD, imo, they will continue to be in a state of denial.

Imo

Ocean, this touches on a whole 'nother topic: Why do so many family members believe in innocence? I'm not at all sure that they actually do, but I've come to think it's just familial loyalty over justice. I saw a case, "up close and personal", where a woman killed her husband (actually, two), then when she came under suspicion, framed her daughter for the murder and attempted to kill her as well. I never understood why the grandparents of the young woman framed by her mother stood by the mother and proclaimed her innocence. It was so obvious who the culprit was!

I mulled this for so long, since one reason could have been that blaming it on the granddaughter was safe -there was no way she'd ever be convicted of the murder. However, I ultimately decided that what was really going on was the "blood is thicker than water" concept: The daughter was closer in blood/bond to the grandparents, and they were willing to let their granddaughter be blamed for murder, so as to save the murderous daughter. Awful.

Thankfully for all parties involved, the mother was convicted and died not long after in prison. It is thought she not only killed two husbands, framed her daughter for murder and attempted to murder her, but that she also murdered her own father.

So, "state of denial", I'm not so sure. Maybe in some cases, but I think in many it's just saving one's own, no matter the travesty of justice.

I'm not sure what else you were expecting - anything in the opening statements that hasn't been covered by the witnesses yet?

I suppose I wanted to hear about the two calls Joey made to the bank on the 4th. But I suppose that means no notes of the calls were kept. It's not such a leap though to say it was more than likely about the activity on his account that day, since he logged into QuickBooks before calling them back.
