Hi Everyone, here is today's update.

This morning, Mary Trump (Donald Trump's niece), shared the story about Jack on Twitter. https://twitter.com/MaryLTrump/status/1417836288682741764

We were able to talk to Detective Rincon today. She continues to send teams of deputies out to possible places she thinks Jack might be, in addition, of course, to sending out teams to follow up on every single lead. She is pulling information from hospitals, law enforcement, social services, and other community organizations that might provide information. Thank you so much to the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station and their tireless efforts to locate Jack. Detective Rincon encourages us to stay positive and is confident that we will find Jack.

WCCO-TV | CBS Minnesota, our local CBS channel in the Twin Cities, did a write up about Jack and the idea that he could possibly be trying to make his way home.

Hi Everyone, here is today's update. It has been exactly two weeks since Jack vanished.

We have been in contact with the FBI in LA for the last several days. Early this morning, a special bulletin with information about Jack, as well as his photo, was sent to all Fusion Centers throughout the US. So, if he happens to be outside California, first responders should be able to identify him.

We have gotten several recent tips from around the Malibu area, Detective Rincon has sent out deputies to check up on each of these possible sightings.

Dateline made a TikTok video about Jack's disappearance (attached below). One thing I need to correct is that Jack's new job was not at Gartner, the picture is from his summer internship there. https://www.tiktok.com/@nbcdateline/video/6989263237179084038

Since so many people have reached out to offer help, we created a form for contact information. So if you want to help, we can easily get in touch so that you can help with raising awareness and the search. You can view that here: https://forms.gle/W7i8RW4tn3gNw8ct7

Thank you so so much for the people who continue to keep an eye out. Thank you to everyone who continues to post and share and reach out to us. We know that it's hard to know what to say, which makes us that much more grateful for the kind words of support.

My cousin is in St Paul and is very involved in the skate/music/recovery scene out there. Passed all this info on and he said he would be spreading the word and keeping an eye out.

John “Jack” Stein, a 24-year-old California man has been missing since this summer and there have been no updates in his case. He was last seen in the 3700 block of Kanan Road in Agoura Hills, California, on July 13, 2021. His family says he suffers from depression and bipolar disorder and is worried because it’s unlike him to not be in contact with someone. He does not have a cell phone or ID on him, but could have been traveling to Denver or Salt Lake City, where he has friends, or to his hometown in Minnesota. Family members, friends and volunteers have scoured the woods and neighborhoods around Agoura Hills, Westlake, and Thousand Oaks, as well as Venice Beach and Malibu, searching shelters and homeless encampments. They’ve talked to hundreds of pedestrians and shared missing person posters with everyone they’ve come in contact with. A billboard is going up in the area of Venice Beach on December 27, 2021. Jack is described by his family as a kind, beautiful soul who is creative and loves to draw, but also athletic and loves to surf and snowboard. He’s 6’3” tall, weighs about 180 lbs, and has blue eyes and shaggy strawberry-blond hair. He has a tattoo of a sparrow on his upper right thigh and circle tattoos on his chest. Was Jack here? A sister asks the beach community whether they've seen her missing brother
FEB. 24, 2022

While setting up a chess board at a mental health treatment center in Agoura Hills, Jack Stein looked past his roommate like he’d seen a ghost. The 24-year-old went to his room, laced up his shoes and walked out into the midsummer evening. That was the last time anyone saw him.

Snip

[Jack's sister] flew into Los Angeles from Cambridge, Mass., last weekend, continuing the search for her only sibling. [snip] One man — a 53-year-old who goes by the name Leaf-n-Thewind — said he’d hung out with Stein a few times. When K. said her brother kept a sketchbook, the man showed her some drawings he believed Stein had created and said: “This is him.” “You’re giving me some hope right now,” K. said.

[Snip] law enforcement officials think Stein is still alive, likely living between Venice and Malibu. There have been numerous sightings of people who match Stein’s description, Rincon said, and several deputies think they may have encountered him. But so far, they haven’t been able to track him down.

Woman searching for her missing brother highlights media disparity
1 Mar 2022

What You Need To Know
  • Jack Stein, an adult white male, aged 24, mysteriously disappeared from a treatment center in Agoura Hills, California
  • Despite an exhaustive search, Stein is still missing
  • According to recent statistics, nationally, and in California, many more adult males go missing than adult females
  • Research shows that media coverage skews toward missing females, in what sociologists call “missing white woman syndrome”
But K. is also baffled that she had to go this far — literally and figuratively — to spread the word about her brother’s disappearance. Her brother hasn’t garnered a lot of media attention. And she said it has everything to do with his gender. “It’s often a lot more difficult to get attention as a (missing) man than a woman,” ...

Details of Disappearance

Stein was last seen at Inspire Malibu, a treatment facility in the 3700 block of Kanan Road in Agoura Hills, California, at 7:45 p.m. on July 13, 2021. He had be admitted to treatment the previous month, but on the day of his disappearance he walked out of the facility and didn't return.

He has never been heard from again. He didn't have a cellular phone or any identification with him at the time of his disappearance.

Stein is originally from Minnesota and his parents still lived there at the time of his disappearance; his sister lives in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from University of Minnesota in 2020 with a degree in economics, and he had recently accepted a job in Colorado. He has contacts in Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah.

According to his family, Stein experienced a mental health crisis in May 2021, which was what prompted him to quit his job in Minneapolis, Minnesota and travel to Southern California. He stayed for awhile in a sober living home, but had to leave it because of his instability.

His family had him admitted to Inspire Malibu, and on the day of his disappearance his mother and sister went to visit him. They last saw him a few hours before he walked out of the facility.

Stein's family believes he may have been trying to travel back to Minnesota when he vanished. His case remains unsolved.

I hope he is found.

Why do people send their loved ones to treatment facilities across the country where the person can literally just walk out.
