Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Missing Persons Detail are seeking the public’s assistance in locating John Michael Ermer, a 59 year-old White male, who drove away from his home on the 2300 block of Canyon Park Drive, Diamond Bar, with his Jack Russell Chihuahua mix white and black dog, on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., he was last seen driving away in his silver 2003 Saturn L200, with the California license plate number 5BHC120.

Mr. Ermer is described as 5’11”, 200 lbs., has short gray hair, and hazel eyes. He recently checked out of a local motel in the City of Rowland Heights and may be in that area.

His family is very concerned for his well-being. Mr. Ermer has diabetes and kidney issues.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau, Missing Persons Detail, Sergeant M. Rodriguez, Detective T. Abraham or Detective M. Pereida at (323) 890-5500.

Although the missing report did not give an exact address for the local motel in the City of Rowland Heights, the distance from John's residence to Rowland Heights is 5.8 miles. The report also doesn't give a date for when he checked out of the motel.

Odd, isn't it? Why would someone take their dog and stay in a motel five miles from home? I would really like to know how many nights he spent there, if any, and why. MOO

It seems odd that he would be that close to home that many weeks after leaving. I can see how someone might want to have some alone time. But he was close by a month after he disappeared, and he didn't think that he'd had enough time away from home or that he might want to let them know he was okay?
