A Southern California woman previously accused Micah of threatening behavior that led her to seek and obtain a restraining order in 2017. “Micah shows signs of mental instability. His behavior is unpredictable,” the petition obtained by Rolling Stone reads. “Micah poses a real threat… and he has been violent with his own family members.”

Wonderful singing voice, so much feeling.
Rest in eternal peace, Jubilant.
My utmost condolences to his loved ones.

It sounds from the Yahoo article he (the son) was living at home; and from the link below (ABC 7 News) starting at about 1:18 ff; the family had tried to get him help for years.

The fact that they had not had the son committed , makes me wonder if out of compassion they let him stay at home and get outpatient treatment ?
So sad !!!!
You can't force someone to get help.
Imo.

11:10 AM -- A neighborhood source tells TMZ, Micah was not living at his father's home but was known in the neighborhood for rambling in public and shouting nonsensical things to no one in particular.

According to our source, Micah had mental health issues, but the official diagnosis is unclear. The source adds ... Jubilant loved Micah and had been optimistic about his condition, as -- just a few weeks ago -- Jubilant told a neighbor Micah was doing really well.

Jubilant's wife was home at the time of the murder and was the one who called 911.

A little more info.
So was Micah living with his mom, then ?
Both parents probably tried to get him help for years.
Not sure if they could have tried to force Micah to live in an assisted living situation ?
Imo.

I've fortunately never had to deal with this myself, but I've heard that it's often incredibly difficult to get somebody into inpatient treatment against their will. The family may not have had many options
