I have not had the time to look, does anyone know if there are plans/schematics for the canal, the various tunnels, siphons, etc?

To whomever asked earlier where it ends, it dumps out into O'neill Forebay near San Luis Reservoir and Hecker Pass. It's essentially a lake, up to 57 feet deep (IIRC). There are som monster fish in there and it is very popular for fishing. It is open to the public.

I'm not sure how likely it is, if they are in the water that they will make it down the 25 miles or so to the forebay though. There is a lot of stuff to get caught up on in the canal. Not even sure if they will surface (which if they were going to would be happening in the next several days).

Sadly, it really is a watery graveyard. There are a lot of souls down there that haven't been recovered and who knows if they ever will be.

a commenter on news10 just had a thought that hadn't occurred to me. Not sure why it didn't as it's logical.

If they got out before the car went in, or if Jose pushed it in, there would be footprints, since the tire tracks are in mud.

I thought about that, but not necessarily. If he got out up on the top area and then put it into drive and let it go down the slight slope and in, there wouldn't be any. KWIM?

That mom should not of been on Nancy grace tonight!! I was so upset for her! And then the caller that said that God may of needed the child more ( omg I am glad they seemed to of hung up on that caller). UGH tonights show made me SICK. I don't give a rats butt about raitings that mom shoulnd't of been on tonight. IMO someone should of took control and got her off the show. Exclusive my butt. I am so upset @ tonights show. Such Disrespect to Juliani's mom.

I kept saying a prayer please dont let this mom get the news her baby is gone via Nancy grace show. That poor mom she sat there and gave the interview as they spoke about if the baby was in the car that was being pulled up. It was just wrong on so many levels. :( She is probley not emoctionally thinking correctly and someone anyone should of been there for her and got her away from seeing and hearing them things. ugh ugh I am so upset .

I was very upset with that also. First off NG producers should of realized that being that the car was located it is a wait and see thing. Those moments of wait and see to the viewers is DIFFERENT than wait and see to the mother. I cant even imagine they would do that to her.

The guest I am assuming can hear the other quest talk and callers that call in to ask questions. The mother had to hear what the decomposition level would be.. I think the entire show was cruel to the mother.

I guess she agreed to come on, so it was her choice. IMO when the mother had nothing to offer other than just hoping they were ok and to see the pain on her face.. they should of told her thank you for her time and put a quick end to her due to her emotions and the little baby inside her that is effected also when mother is under stress.

This is a little off subject but NG could cover more information and an additional story each night if she would ask callers not to take up half their call on talking about the twins. Why does talking of the twins seem to be a must of each caller.

Ok, I think there may be some confusion as to which canal we are looking at. There is the California Aqueduct and the Delta Mendota Canal. I think it is the Aqueduct that goes into the forebay vs. the canal which follows the same path much of the way, but then parallels 33 and ends up in Mendota Pool in Mendota.

Last night I was on auto pilot and went straight for familiar territory and the forebay. Now that I've had some sleep and a pot of coffee, I think I may have been focused on the wrong waterway, albeit they're right next to each other much of the way.

Anyone?

I not only felt sorry for Julianai's mother but for Mark Klass on last nights NG. He is truly a hero in my eyes. To relive the horror he went through every time he is on that show. I just can't imagine.
I hope I don't make anyone angry with this observation. I did find it odd that Julianai's mom said she only helped Jose when he needed it but is pregnant with his child. Obviously, there was more to that relationship. Just thought it was odd.

No criticism intended (because you are right about the statement) but I think we need to remember she is 8 months pregnant and her baby has been missing for over a week - now presumed dead by LE (if the deepest condolences, said by the Chief yesterday - means what it sounds like) he has said several times that J and Juliani are most likely in the canal. We should just take everything she says with a grain of salt.

I read several comments yesterday (elsewhere) that spoke harshly of Tabitha because she was in school the day after the kidnapping. She seems to have a rock solid belief that J will not harm Juliani. I hope she has much help and support from her extended family - if they are found in the canal. I also hope this resolves quickly, whatever the outcome, for her sake and that of the family. So very, very sad - such a handsome, precious little boy.

Yes, the sheriff indicated at the last presser yesterday that the canal ends in the mendota pool

I feel so, so bad for this poor mother. What a nightmare she has been living!! I hope they find Juliani soon so that she can have some closure, although it's going to take her a long, long time to heal, if ever.

I was surprised to learn the other day that she is pregnant with this man's child. I can't help but think she may have a hard time bonding with her baby when she is born. Imagine looking at your new baby knowing full well that the father took your son away and caused his death. Gosh, I hope she gets a lot of counselling.

Ok, sent an email in case they haven't thought of it and recommended that they call in mutual aid for water search dogs to work from the pond up the canal. Seems like a viable option in this situation.

I posted upthread last night that they had brought in some dogs at some point, and vaguely indicated that they were water trained HRD. Not 100% on the type or true capacity though.

Yeah, it's my understanding that they were working the banks. I think they need to get them on the water in a boat and work from the pool on "upstream". They may be able to do a tie off system to either side of the canal bank. It's a lot of ground to cover and is going to require a lot of dogs, but I think it's their best bet if they are stuck on something. It would be impossible to dive the whole thing, sonar would take forever too, dogs would be slow, but quicker than any other option that I can think of.

There is still hope that he used dumping the car as a decoy and someone picked him up and they are somewhere else. The focus has been very strong on the silver car, which we now know was dumped very early on. So, if he just dumped the car, then they could have gone anywhere, down to Mexico, you name it. While, yes, it is not promising, as long as there is no body, then there is still hope. Hold on to it!

I wish you were right but it seems like this would have required some planning and I'm not sure that Rodriguez was in his right mind and could formulate such a plan: letting the car roll into the canal, having someone pick them up at an exact spot, etc etc.

I wonder if police have any access to cell phone or other phone records? If he did execute a plan like this, it seems like he would have had to call a friend to pick them up while he was on the run with Juliani. We just haven't heard anything to that effect; no friend has spoken up, that we know of.
